PREVIEW: California travels to Alamo for the semi-finals. California was the division leader until late in the season when Alamo passed them up.

GAME #1 at Alamo With 8:57 to go in the 1st period, trouble maker Brad Marchand scores on a short handed goal. Heinen and Matheson get the assists. Heinen had just been moved onto the 2nd penalty kill unit. After 1 period, it’s 1-0, Alamo.

Late in the 2nd period, Van Riemsdyk scores his 2nd goal of the playoff season, and the Regulators tie the game. Nelson and Getzlaf get the assists. Its, 1-1 after 2 periods.

3rd period – Early in the 3rd, the Defenders strike on a short handed goal. Draisaitl scores his 6th goal of the playoffs. Glendenning gets the sole assist.

The game was a good defensive one, and Alamo holds on for the win. Alamo out shoots California 21-17. Alamo has 15 blocks to California’s 18.

GAME #2 at Alamo This was another close checking game – just like game 1.

At the 9:26 mark of the 1st period, Brad Marchand gets the Defenders on the board. Wheeler and Stamkos get the assists. The period ends with Alamo up, 1-0.

With 3:35 to go in the 2nd period, we have a repeat score by Alamo. Marchand gets his 2nd goal of the game and 4th of the playoffs. Wheeler and Stamkos get the assists.

There is no scoring in the 3rd period, Alamo out shoots California, 11-4 in the 3rd, and dominates the 3rd period.

Alamo wins as Lehner pitches a shutout. He stops all 24 shots.

GAME #3 at California In the 1st period, California catches fire and Huberdeau scores his 3rd goal of the playoffs with 12:04 to go in the period.

2nd period – the Regulators turn on the jets and net three goals. Nelson scores 2 and Spurgeon scores his 1st goal of the series. Getzlaf contributes with 2 assists. California out shoots Alamo, 14-5.

3rd period – Alamo outshoots California, 19-8, but can’t find the net.

Khudobin saves 31 shots and earns the shutout.

California 4 Alamo 0 – California holds serve in the series.

PREVIEW: California is coming off a 4-0 win and new life. Alamo still leads 2-1, as we are set to play in California.

GAME #4 at California California has a change in goal as Grubauer starts in goal.

Both Grubauer and Lehner battle it out. No one scores through 2 periods. California out shoots Alamo 9-5 in the first, and 10-4 in the second.

We go to the 3rd. Alamo leads in shots, 10-4. They score at 9:42 of the 3rd period on a Stamkos power play goal courtesy of a Chara 5 minute penalty! He is guilty of checking from behind. Stamkos scores his 6th of the playoffs. Marchand and Wheeler, his line mates get credit for the assists. There are no more goals, and once again we have a shutout.

GAME #5 at Alamo No scoring in the 1st period.

In the 2nd, it wouldn’t take long. 30 seconds into the period, Huberdeau scores his 4 of the series to put California up. At the 10:41 mark, Marchand scores for Alamo to tie it.

3rd period. Score is 1-1. With 2:03 to go, Spurgeon scores his 2nd of the playoffs. Nelson and Silfverberg get the assists. Alamo fails to score and California wins.

SUMMARY: Similar to the quarterfinals where Alamo fails to clinch it at home in the 5th game. We go back to California with Alamo up, 3-2.

GAME #6 at California This game was another grind of defense and a few penalties.

1st period – SOG -Alamo 8-6.
2nd period – SOG -California 12-6. Lehner playing well again.

3rd period – Only goal of the game. The slumping Draisaitl puts one in the net. It’s his 7th. Seguin and Hornqvist get the assists. The goal was scored at the 6:02 mark.

SOG – 3rd period – California 9 Alamo 6

Lehner tosses another shutout.

Alamo 1 California 0 – to take game 6 and win 4 games to 2.

1st star – Lehner 27 saves.
2nd star – Draisaitl 1 goal.
3rd star – Hornqvist 1 assist.

SUMMARY: Alamo wins a game 6 on the road, 1-0 to win the semi-finals. This is the 2nd upcoming finals for Alamo who will take on a tough team.

4 of the 6 games were decided by shutout. Lehner gets 3 shutouts and wins the semi-finals MVP award.
