WEEKLY PREVIEW: | Bathgate brings in one team to the Round Garden this week – Lafayette, the teams were off to a similar start but the Rangers have actually shown some defense the past week. Can they keep that up? |
Lafayette Homesteaders @ Bathgate Rangers | Rangers start the scoring in the 1st when Lindblom is called for high sticking. Anderson sticks on in the net for the 1-0 lead. However, Kucherov retaliates with a goal 5 minutes later and the period ends tied 1-1. That Kucherov goal ends up being the last one for the Homesteaders as Halak stops everything that comes his way the rest of the game. And there were plenty of shots 33 that were on net and 74 total. Rangers blocked 25 shots!

Bathgate Rangers @ Thunder Bay NorWesters | Bathgate opens the scoring Hertl(10) but that is the only score in the first period. A close tight game with both defenses continually disrupting play.
The second period opened up more and each team scored 2 goals. Bathgate goals by Lindholm(1) and Zadarov (2). Thunder Bay goals by Connor (5) and Parayko (2). 3-2 Bathgate on top. The third period Thunder Bay seemed fresher and just quicker to the puck. Alexander Barkov tied the game 3-3 with his 7th goal of the season. Then Sean Couturier scored the game winner his 4th of the season. Final Score Thunder Bay 4 Bathgate 3. |
Guentzel Gunners @ Thunder Bay NorWesters | Thunder Bay and Guentzel meet for the first time after their trade. Nolan Patrick played for the visitors and Luke Kunin subbed in to give Jasper Bratt a rest.

Then Andreas Johnsson (8th) and Kyle Connot (6th) followed to give Thunder Bay a 3-0 lead after 20 minutes No goals were scored in the 2n period. WEEKLY SUMMARY: | Two solid wins at home. The offense continues to be three lines deep. |
LA Great Danes | |
---|---|
WEEKLY PREVIEW: | Danes come into week 4 with a 3-2-0 record at home and a 1-6-0 record at home. So just what we don’t need – 3 more home games this week! |
Brentwood Bandits @ LA Great Danes | Despite LA outshooting Brentwood 45-32, this game was never really in doubt. Brentwood scores on their first shot and rolls to a 5-2 win. It was Brentwood’s third line doing almost all the damage – Galchenyuk the hat trick and 4 points, Kerfoot 4 assists, and Neidereiter 1G-2A. |
Alamo Defenders @ LA Great Danes | Not a good start for LA, falling behind 2-0 after one with Alamo scoring 2 goals 54 seconds apart in period 1. But the Danes get even at 2-2, with the 4th line and 3rd D pairing tying the game versus Alamo’s first line. But so much for momentum as Alamo regains the lead 28 seconds later, and a minute after that Alamo scores again and LA is down 4-2 after 2 periods. With a PP chance to get back in the game in the 3rd, LA gives up a SHG and the home losing streak continues with another 5-2 loss. Ekblad and Heinen had 2 goals each for Alamo. |
Gilbert Sharks @ LA Great Danes | The last place Sharks come to town, and Gilbert jumps out to a quick 2-0 lead on goals by Domi at 0:48 and Voracek at 8:12. A Jamie Benn deflection goal gets LA within one after one. It’s a scoreless second period despite the Danes holding a 7-1 scoring chance advantage, so a tight one goal game heading into the 3rd. In the 3rd, a Pominville slapshot blows by Andersen at 7:59, but the Danes keep the pressure on the Sharks. A Pietrangelo shot beats Nilsson but hits the crossbar, but a bit later Scheifele scores at 14:40 to make it 3-2. LA peppers Nilsson in the last minute, but Atkinson scores the empty-net goal and Gilbert comes away with the 4-2 win. Gilbert D-man David Savard earns the game’s first star with his first 3 assists of the season. |
WEEKLY SUMMARY: | A 1-9-0 record at home so far. The Danes need a long road trip. |
Jagr Mullets | |
---|---|
WEEKLY PREVIEW: | Just one home game this week – but it’s a BIG one: The Battle of the Brothers ™. |
Brentwood Bandits @ Jagr Mullets | Well that sucked.
Brentwood goes up 1-0 just 79 seconds into the contest, as Konecny scores his first of the year. Jagr carries the play, but just can’t get past the Vasilevskiy Wall (c). It’s Brentwood up 3-0 late in the 3rd, when the Mullets pull Kuemper and throw the kitchen sink at the wall. Ovechkin (6) finally penetrates the frozen barrier to make it 3-1, but the Mullets play with fire too long, surrendering a pair of empty netters by Josi and Debrusk to ultimately fall 5-1. Also of note – both goalies belonged to the other teams last season, so Vasilevskiy wins this round as he thoroughly outplays Kuemper. Scoring Summary Star 1: BWB Vasilevskiy 42 saves GWG: John Tavares Notables: BWB Vasilevskiy 42 saves |
WEEKLY SUMMARY: | Do-over? We wish. |

WEEKLY PREVIEW: | The Cincinnati Inferno head into the week with four home games. Is this the week they finally move among the top contenders in the MWHL? |

The Defenders score three times in the first period in putting this one away early. Leon Draisaitl scores a pair of goals to lead the charge and Robin Lehner stops 28 in picking up the victory. |

Thunder Bay NorWesters @ Cincinnati Inferno | Thunder Bay got 24 saves from Pekka Rinne in a 4-1 win over Cincinnati.

WEEKLY SUMMARY: | Gilbert is looking at a long season with the way they have played so far. |
Charlotte Buzzards | |
---|---|
WEEKLY PREVIEW: | Charlotte, leading the Atlantic division for the first time ever, seeks to build on its momentum with home games versus Bucks County and Guentzel. |
Bucks County Raccoons @ Charlotte Buzzards | The Buzzards run into a buzzsaw by the name of Jack Campbell. The Raccoons goalie made an astonishing 50 saves against 52 shots in turning back Charlotte, 5-2. Meanwhile Carey Price (just 25 saves) was less then stellar and three goals in the first six minutes of the game — two from Melkar Karlsson and another from Andrew Shaw gave the Raccoons a 3-1 advantage, a lead they never relinquished. Karlsson, Campbell and Shaw garenered first, second and third star honors respectively. |
Guentzel Gunners @ Charlotte Buzzards | The inspiration behind the Guentzel Gunners franchise — Jake that is — delivers. Guentzel’s Guentzel scores two second period goals to overcome a 3-2 deficit and lift the Gunners to the 5-3 victory. Jake Guentzel grabbed first-star honors followed by second star Patrick Kane (1 goal 2 assists) and third star Garnet Hathaway who kicked off the scoring for Guentzel with the first goal of the game early in the first period. Braden Holtby delivered with 43 saves for the Gunners. While Charlotte outshot Guentzel 46-38 and won 46 of 72 faceoffs, it spent less time in the attacking zone, with the Gunners winning that TOA battle 5:47 to 4:29. Charlotte didn’t give up any power play goals but doomed its chances to generate any offensive momentum by racking up seven penalties. |
WEEKLY SUMMARY: | Indicative of several of the Buzzards losses this year, Charlotte throws the kitchen sink at its two visitors. But an eye-raising 98 shots only yields 5 goals — and no points — in these last two home games, with opponent netminders having the last laugh. The Buzzards continue applying massive offensive pressure, yet still manage to somehow slide back in the Atlantic. |
Bucks County Raccoons | |
---|---|
WEEKLY PREVIEW: | BC looks to pick up some points against two teams at the bottom of their respective divisions |
Guentzel Gunners @ Bucks County Raccoons | The Racs explode for four 2nd period goals on the way to a 6-2 win over the Guentzel Gunners. BC controlled play through out, attempting 70 shots to the visitors 44 and generating 21 scoring chances for the game. Zach Hyman notched two goals for the home team in victory. |
Toledo Walleye @ Bucks County Raccoons | Evander Kane broke a 12 game goal less streak at 9:33 of the third period for his first of the year, breaking open a tight checking contest as the Bucks County Raccoons skated to a 4-1 victory over the Toledo Walleye. After killing off a 4 minute penalty at 13:19 of the 3rd, Kevin Hayes scored on the rush to give the Racs some cushion. Two empty net goals surrounded an Arvidsson goal in the last 90 seconds to set the final score. |
WEEKLY SUMMARY: | Mission accomplished, winning both home games against teams currently struggling a bit… |
California Regulators | |
---|---|

This all leads to a Bandits 4-3 victory. |
WEEKLY SUMMARY: | One home game, two points, and the “surprising” defending Cup Champs may hold onto first place in the Metro for another week before Jagr rights their ship and rolls over the division.
Will we try for the repeat, or sell for a rebuilding year? Time will tell! |
Toledo Walleye | |
---|---|
WEEKLY PREVIEW: | 2 home games in Toledo this week. Doing this late, busy weekend with the grandkid. |
Gilbert Sharks @ Toledo Walleye | Toledo 2, Gilbert 1 –
PP goal in the 1st by Pettersson makes it 1-0 Binnington saves 32 of 33 in the win. |
Chicago Cosa Nostra @ Toledo Walleye | Chicago 5, Toledo 2.
Toledo offense continues to sputter, while Chicago gets it going this game. Chicago scores the first 3 of the game (DeBrincat, Chabot, Pastrnak) before Toledo responds with 2 (van Riemsdyk and Arvidsson). But thats all the Walleye have. Pastrnak and Pirri each add one more in the 2nd and then Saros goes stone wall the final 40 minutes to make it stand. 5-2 |
