Series Preview: Stanley Cup Finals… California at Brentwood. Looks to be a great series!!
Game #1: California comes out firing… looking to regulate the pace of the game. But in the early going Vasilevskiy stands tall. Eberle (2) scores first and makes it 1-0 Bandits.

The Bandits would go on to outshoot the Regulators 14-7 in the period, up 1-0.

In the 2nd period the Bandits throw 13 shots (to California’s 7) at Bobrovsky but he stops them all.

Go to the 3rd period. Battle of the Russian net minders!

Both teams firing away at each other! Both goalies standing tall!

Reinhart (2) gets one pas Vasilevskiy to tie it at 2 at the 11:03 mark.

Bandits on a PP at the 12:02 mark and fire everything they can at Bobrovsky, but he stones each puck thrown his way. He’s in a zone!

Not to be outdone, Vasilevskiy stones Reinhart on a breakaway with less than 2 minutes left!

We head to OT… playoff hockey in OT! Nothing better!!

Some back and forth to start. Point shots, etc. Brentwood crosses the blueline to setup. Braun stops, fires, Backes deflects… SCORES!!!

The Bandits win in OT 2-1!! It shouldn’t have even gone to OT were it not for Bobrovsky saving 45 of the Bandits 47 shots on the evening.

The Russian Bear was stellar and we’re sure to have more of the same in Game 2 (to be played later this evening or tomorrow).

Game #1 Summary: Game 1 goes to Brentwood. Let’s see how California reacts and comes out in Game 2!
Game #2 Preview: Bandits up 1-0. Game 2 of the Stanley Cup Finals starts… NOW!
Game #2: In a surprise move, the Regulators start Grubauer in net over the Russian Bear. Let’s see if it is the right move!

1:49 in and Eberle (3) makes it 1-0 Bandits.
At the 14:18 mark Neiderreiter (6) makes it 2-0 Bandits.

The 2nd period was a different story as Stone scores 2 goals for California to tie it up 2-2!

3rd period sees Eberle (4) with his 2nd of the night to retake the lead 3-3.

Huberdeau (2) scores at 12:10 to even it up.

We go to OT again!!

Brentwood tests Grubauer early and he is up to the task. Then at 10:33, Staal bares down on Vasilevskiy on a breakaway. He dekes, shoots… SCORES!!!

California wins Game 2 in OT 4-3!!

Game #2 Summary: An exciting and even series goes to California to see if the Bandits can steal at least one off of the Regulators, who will surely be mounting up!

Game #4: California, down 1-2 at home, is in a must win situation.

Game #4 Summary: Series tied 2-2. Back to Brentwood.
Game #5: Series swings back to Brentwood tied 2-2! The most even series of the playoffs, at least for Brentwood!

Can the Bandits hold court at home and put the pressure on California to head home with a must win elimination game? 

This has been a great series thus far. Very evenly matched.
1st period
At the 7:00 mark, on the PP Gaudreau (6) makes it 1-0 Cali.
At 10:42 Fowler nets his 2nd of the playoffs to put the visitors up 2-0.
14:08 Kerfoot scores his 7th to put the Bandits on the board, but the Regulators still lead 2-1.
Barzal gets 4 minutes for a highs stick.
16:41 Backes (3) scores on the PP to tie it 2-2.
California kills the rest of the penalty and we head to the 2nd tied at 2!
2nd Period
Back and forth. No scoring. This period was all goalies… until, 18:30 when Backes (4) gets his 2nd of the game to make it 3-2 Bandits.
3rd Period
Niederreiter (7) puts the bandits up 4-2. A comfortable lead…
Nope! Reinhard (3) makes it 4-3
Then on the PP Faulk (2) ties it 4-4!
At 13:27 Krug rips one from the point to put the Bandits back on top 5-4.
California pulls Grubauer. They fire shot after shot at Vasilevskiy who stands tall until Kessel is sprung on a pass from Tavares, and he buries the empty-netter (his 8th) to make it 6-4, and that’s where it ends.

Game #5 Summary: Bandits win and force an elimination Game 6 at California.

Can the Bandits claim the Cup on the road? Or will we have an exciting game 7?

Game #6: Down 3-2, California has matched Brentwood fairly well this series, but can we do enough to send the series back to Brentwood for a final Game 7?

California scores two in the final period to win, 3-1.

Game #6 Summary: California and Brentwood have been evenly matched all series, tied 3-3 with 17 goals in six games. On to Brentwood!
Game #6 Preview: This is it! What it all comes down to! Game 7 of the Stanley Cup Finals!!

California won game 6 by a score of 3-1 to send us to Game 7.

The Stanley Cup is again in the house… only this time, someone will be drinking from it. Will that be the Regulators? Or the Bandits?

Game #7: 1st period…

El Nino Niederreiter (8) continues to show why he was signed long term a few years ago as he makes it 1-0 Bandits.

Less than 2 minutes later, Lindholm (4) makes it 2-0 for a quick Bandits lead!

It appears that Staal scores, but it is waved off because Vasilevskiy was interfered with! Still 2-0 Bandits! Bandits out-shoot the Regulators 13-8.

Head to the 2nd…

Bandits still in control out-shooting California 16-7, but Reinhart gets loose on a breakaway, bears down on Vasilevskiy… shoots… SCORES!! His 4th of the playoffs cuts the Bandit lead to 2-1!!

We head to the 3rd. Bandits out-shoot Cali again 12-9… but they can’t get any insurance.

Time winding down… Bobrovsky, who has kept his team in this game, heads to the bench for the extra attacker. Shot after shot fired… quite a few blocked. Vasilevskiy stands tall…

Time winding down more… Hornqvist misses an empty net from the blue line.

One final rush for Cali… they come into the zone offside.

Face off… won by Brentwood… they hold the puck and watch time expire as the home town crowd goes insane!!

The Brentwood Bandits are your 2019 MWHL Stanley Cup Champions!!

Series Summary: Congrats to California on a GREAT and VERY EVEN series!! Both teams score 17 goals each!! Couldn’t have been closer!!

Hope everyone had a great time this season, I know I did and not just because of the Stanley Cup win. I love this league. I’m gonna savor this because starting next year, we’re doing a full rebuild.

Anyway… time to drink and plan a parade! 😉
