Game #3 | After splitting the first two games the tensions were high on both ends teams jumped out quick and were looking to get that edge here in New Jersey. The east has not not a good ole Wild West shootout like this both teams were flying from the gate. Matthews for Jagr and Gibbons got both teams on the board in the first. The second had shots and opportunities but non led to scoring chances. The third was a tight battle then the game went wild has Dustin Byfuglien choose to penetrate from the point with a mere 24 seconds left in the game and find the net behind Gibson. New Jersey then added a insurance goal to make it 3-1 but then just before the clock expired Jagr added another and clearly sent a message to New Jersey. Keith Kinkaid said ” Jagr’s last goal was me losing focus. I assure you and my teammates that I will be back in form for game 4.” |
Game #4 | Game 4 was polar opposite of game 3. The teams that jumped out quick and firing were playing more open. The net was open as well. Jagr and New Jersey traded 2 goals each in the first to end up 2-2 after 1 period. Dustin Byfuglien stated in the intermission interview “These two Jagr goals were clearly my fault for taking dumb penalties. We need a better 40 minutes to come” New Jersey was able to find their game, Jagr struggled taking penalties. New Jersey was able to get a late 2nd period goal and add another goal in the third to get the commanding 4-2 lead. Keith Kinkaid was stellar at holding off Jagr until the end when he again gave up a goal late. Coach Hynes was happy with his team but knows the work is not complete.
New Jersey has taking a commanding lead 3-1 in the series, The old barn in New Jersey has been a tough place to play. After two very tough losses on the road, the Mullets return home down 3-1. |
Game #5 | Arvidsson (2) scores at 3:34 to give the Generals the early lead, but Zach Parise (1) scores his first of the playoffs at 12:56 to tie it up.
And that’s when things go nuts. The Mullets absolutely dominate the Generals in the first two periods, outshooting them 37-18. But after two periods, it’s 5-2 Generals. The Mullets throw the kitchen sink at Kinkaid, but it seems every opportunity the other way goes in the net for New Jersey. But never doubt the mullet. Jagr scores FIVE unanswered goals in the 3rd period to come from behind and beat New Jersey 7-5. The Generals don’t help themselves, as they surrender two PP goals to allow Jagr to tie and pass them. TJ Brodie seals the deal with the empty netter at 18:54. Scoring Summary Star 1: JAG Parise 2 G GWG: Taylor Hall Notables: NJG Kinkaid 50 saves |
Game #6 | In a series that was close and well fought this game was completely one sided and the Pru Center was jumping. 1:22 into the game and Jasper Bratt gave New Jersey the lead after Taylor Hall took a penalty at the start of the game. the Bratt goal set off a rampant run by New Jersey who proceeded to pump in 5 more goals to get out to a 6 goal lead in the first two periods. The last period saw Jagr get one and New Jersey put the final nail in the coffin and the series late in the third. Brentwood has won so the it will be another tough series ahead. Jagr was a really good team all year and have a lot of great players |
