Long Beach Dirt Bags @ Selkirk Steelers

Series Preview: Long Beach(11-2) is off to a great start, Selkirk is a very disappointing 4-9. Selkirk so far has not pitched nor hit.
Game #1: Winker 3 run homer Ian Anderson and the bullpen was great as Selkirk wins 3-0
Game #2: Selkirk bats wake up Profar, Winker Lewis, and Alonso homer Perez completes a 3 hitter.
Game #3: Pete Alonso 3 homers 7 RBIs! With Fried it was over allows just one hit over 6.1 innings. 8-3 Selkirk
Series Summary: Wow after horrid luck Selkirk does it all. In 3 games Long beach only got 10 hits while Selkirk bats came through.
The batter of the week Pete Alonso 4 homers 10 RBIs.
Pitcher – M Perez 82 game score 3 hits over9 innings & 1run. Anderson (just 2 hits no runs) and Fried (1 hit no runs) were awesome but pulled in the 7th.
It might be too late but this sweep was huge as Selkirk gets to 7-9, the worm turned on Long Beach but 11-5 is still playoff bound but the lineup is getting tired and injured.

Sacramento Capitals @ Pittsburgh Lumber Company

Series Summary: Pittsburgh’s anemic offense is bailed out by its strong pitching and wins 2 of 3.

Columbus Explorers @ Corktown Cycle

Series Summary: C-Bus takes all 3 games, including 2 where they won in the 9th or later.

Motor City Muscle @ Tijuana Bottle Rockets

Series Preview: Tijuana hosts Motor City for 3.
Game #1: 14 innings later Tijuana sneaks out the 3-2 win.
Game #2: Z. Davies goes the distance allowing only 2 runs. The Muscle breaks Tijuana & takes 2 out of 3 from Motor City it open with 3 runs in the 7th and cruises to a 6-2 victory.
Game #3: A reversal of game 2 sees Tijuana win 6-2 behind a strong start from T. Roark.
Series Summary: Tijuana takes 2 out of 3 from Motor City.

Tempe Tempers @ Portland Lumber Jax

Series Preview: The cream of the crop, the Tempe Tempers (12-1) visit the Portland LumberJax (7-6). Can the Jax cut them down, or will the Tempers continue to roll?
Game #1: Tempers get 3 runs in the first inning on an Ona HR, and that is all they would need. Darvish gives the only run for the Tempers, and Valdez gets the save.
TEM 4 POR 1
Game #2: Tempers jump out to the lead again with 2 runs in the first, but Portland counters with 4 big runs in the bottom of the second inning… and rides a complete game by Eflin to a victory. Three LumberJax jacked (unlikely homers) Gosselin, Trevino, and Arroyo (2)… which is 1/2 the amount all three hit last year.
POR 7 TEM 4
Game #3: Wainwright on the mound for the Tempers, with trade rumors dancing in his head. He gives up 3 runs in the first 3 innings, but after Temper’s lead 4-3, it is new Temper Gleyber Torres who gets a game-winning 2-rbi double in the 7th inning to get the win for Portland.
POR 5 TEM 4
Series Summary: Somehow, someway, Portland wins 2 of 3 from the Tempers.

Southwest Detroit Fighting Chihuahuas @ Fremont Cannons

Series Preview: Two AL East rivals off to good starts match up for 3 games.
Game #1: The teams combined for only 6 hits in a low-scoring affair. Brandon Lowe starts off the scoring with a two-run homer off of Danny Duffy in the first to give Southwest Detroit the lead. Fremont scratches a run across in the second against Corbin Burnes with a single, an error, and a Travis Shaw sac fly. Fremont gets out in front in the fourth inning with a Carlos Correa two-run homer. Tanner Scott locks down the Chihuahuas for a two-inning save and Fremont wins 3-2. Corbin Burnes is the hard-luck loser, going six innings and allowing just two hits and one walk with 11 strikeouts.

W: Danny Duffy (1-0)
L: Corbin Burnes (2-1)
S: Tanner Scott (1)

HR: SWD- Brandon Lowe (1); FRE- Carlos Correa (3)

Game #2: Dylan Bundy holds the Fighting Chihuahuas to just one hit over seven innings, and Mike Yastrzemski and Byron Buxton each homer twice. Southwest Detroit scratches across 3 in the ninth to make it a more respectable-looking 7-3 loss.

W: Dylan Bundy (2-1)
L: Erick Fedde (1-2)

HR: SWD- Dominic Smith (2); FRE- Mike Yastrzemski 2 (4), Byron Buxton 2 (3)

Game #3: After appearing in relief the day before, Chris Paddack gets the start in game 3 for Southwest Detroit. Fremont gets to him early with a two-run Mike Yastrzemski homer in the first. Dansby Swanson singles in two in the second to tie it for SWD, but Fremont starter Carlos Rodon limits the damage by getting Dominic Smith to ground out with the bases loaded. His success would be short-lived, as the Chihuahuas would chase him from the game after allowing 5 runs through three innings. Despite committing three errors, Southwest Detroit doubles up Fremont 8-4.

W: Chris Paddack (2-1)
L: Carlos Rodon (1-1)

HR: SWD- Brandon Lowe (2), Colin Moran (4); FRE- Mike Yastrzemski (5)

Series Summary: Fremont takes the home series 2-1.

Detroit Crime @ Hollywood Werewolves

Series Summary: Detroit takes 2 of 3 from Hollywood. The reigning champs are looking more like a .500 or below team this year, most likely missing the playoffs for the first time since 2010.

Chicago Mobsters @ Coconut Creek Crushers

Series Preview: A preview of two teams competing for playoff seeding……next year.
Game #1: CHI gets six quick runs and coasts behind Bauer to win 7-3.
Game #2: Snell and the bullpen post a shutout and give CCC a 3-0 win.
Game #3: Urias and Smith start a pitching duel and the bullpens kept it going. Will Myers singled in the winning run in the bottom of the 11th. CCC wins a tight one 1-0.
Series Summary: CCC pitching pulls off two shutouts and wins the series 2-1.

Virginia Sluggers @ Dallas Cougars

Game #1: Eloy Jimenez hit 2 homers for Virginia and Jose Abreu hit 2 homers for Dallas – the difference in the game was Eloy drove in 3 compared to only 2 for Jose. Virginia takes game one 5 to 4.
Game #2: The Cougars take lead in the bottom of the 6th on a 2 RBI double by Abreu and get two more from some of their sub .200 hitters to go up 4-1, but closer Edwin Diaz blows the save in the 9th as the Sluggers score two to tie the game at 4. Dallas wins the game in the bottom of the 10th on a bases-loaded single by Ramon Laureano.
Game #3: Dallas blows the game open with a 9 run 4th. A.J. Pollock went 4 for 4 with two home runs and 5 RBI, Laureano went 3 for 6 with 4 RBI, and Jose Abreu continues his unbelievable hot start by going 6 for 6 (all singles) with 5 RBI raising his average to .556
Series Summary: Dallas wins the series two games to one.

Triple Creek Patriots @ Rosemere Renegades

Series Preview: The season opener for the Renegades against a pretty good team.
Series Summary: Hard-fought series. All closed games.   RMR takes the series 2-1.

Harsens Island Walleye @ Valdosta Snappers

Series Summary: The Walleye take all 3 games in Valdosta as the Snappers continue what is going to be another rough year.

Jersey Nor’easters @ Bethesda Bandicoots

Series Summary: Jersey takes 2 of 3.

Cincinnati Skyliners @ Yonge Street Stalkers

Series Preview: The Skyliners visit a battered Yonge Street squad that is fresh from losing both games at home to CHI. Let’s get it on!!
Game #1: Taijuan Walker was close to stellar. He went 8 innings and allowed 2 runs on 5 hits and a walk while whiffing 13. YSS scored 2 clutch runs in the bottom of the 8th to head to the 9th with a 5-2 lead. The YSS closer Jorge Alcala entered the contest and s&#t himself. A guy named Lopes tied the game at 5 with a 3R HR. The Skyliners took the lead on a passed ball from the normally reliable Mike Zunino. A base hit that knocked in 2 more runs finished the story. YSS couldn’t muster anything in the bottom half. CIN 8 – YSS 5
Game #2: A weather delay gave us a matchup of grade 1 SPs. Yippee!! CIN starter Brubaker threw 7 scoreless grade 1 innings. YSS starter Wes Benjamin wasn’t so fortunate. Michael Taylor homered, while Lopes continued his hot play with a double and 2 RBI. CIN 7 – YSS 0

For CIN – T. Edman injured for 3 days

Game #3: YSS was shut down again, this time by Anibal Sanchez (grade 3). YSS supplied their own grade 3 SP. Adrian Houser allowed 10 H in his 3 innings. He was relieved by Tucker Davidson. Tucker allowed 10 hits of his own in his 4+ innings. The “glass half full” version of this game would mention that YSS pitchers didn’t allow any homers. CIN 15 – YSS 3
Series Summary: CIN crushed the YSS spirit with the first game comeback. CIN will return home to host CCC, looking to continue their winning ways. YSS remains home to welcome a tough FRE team.

Mesa Solar Sox @ Southbend Lynx

Series Preview: Southbend opens their Home Season after a long road trip. Mesa is looking to get back into the playoff hunt. Southbend’s cry is… Wait until next year!
Game #1: Mesa pounces all over Houck for 4 runs (albeit 2 were unearned) in 5 innings, tho he did manage to fan 7. Mesa steals 4 bases including a steal of home by S.Marte in the 7th. Mesa A.Duvall’s 2-run HR in the 3rd was a key hit. SBL pull within 1 in the B5 on rbi-1bs by Tucker and Bichette, But it was not to be as Mesa holds on for the 6-4 win. Mesa Henricks goes 7 strong and Bailey gets the save.

MSS 6, SBL 4

Game #2: SBL get out to an early lead on a 2-rbi 2b by Tucker in the B1 and Joyce rbi-1b in the B2. But Mesa ties it with a T.Anderson solo-HR in the T3 and a Suarez rbi-FC and Kipnis rbi-1b in the T4. Mesa finally gets the winning run in the T9 when Duvall 2bs, PR Robert steals 3rd, and scores on a Grichuk Sac Fly. Mesa Javier goes 8, gives up 3ER, fans 8 to get the win. Armstrong on for the Save #4 for Mesa.

MSS 4, SBL 3

Game #3: The SBL lone bright spot in the entire game is a rbi-2b by Tucker in the B1 for a 1-0 lead. SBL C.Hernandez looks good through 5 but gets touched for 3 in the T6 when Mesa Duvall 2bs, Rosario hits a 2-run HR, and S.Marte hit a solo-HR. That’s all Mesa would need, even tho they added 2 more runs, as Mesa J.Dunn is dominant after the 1st. J.Dunn goes the distance only giving up the lone hit to Tucker while fanning 7 and walking 4.

Mesa 5, SBL 1

Series Summary: Mesa sweeps Southbend 3-0 behind some timely hitting and pitching.
