Fremont comes to Southbend Game 1: Fremont gets the scoring going with C.Johnson's rbi-1b in the 1st. In the 4th Patterson 1b's, steals 2nd, and scores on Colvin's rbi-1b. SBL get one in the 6th when Morse grounds into a 1st & 3rd DP. Fremont is in control with Venters in the game in the 8th. But Venters control gets hi is trouble as Crisp bbs, steals 2nd, and Lowrie draws a bb bringing up Morse. Morse atones for the earlier DP with a 3-run HR, Joyce 1bs, and Wigginton puts the game away with a 2-run HR. SBL 6, FRE 2. Game 2: Fremont again opened the scoring in the 1st with a Swisher solo-HR. In the SBL 1st Crisp 1bs, Petersen 1bs, Morse bbs, and Wigginton rips a 2-run 1b. Fremont loses C.Johnson for 21 days when he's hit in the lower back by Z.Stewart in the 2nd inning. SBL makes it 3-1 in the 2nd when Moustakas hits a solo-HR. In the 4th Moustakas bbs, Fremont then loses Gomez for 10 days when he slams into the wall catching a deep fly by Cedeno. Moustakas moves into 2nd then scores on a Jaso rbi-1b. Fremont battles back in the 6th when Viciedo 1bs, Phillips 1bs, Swisher 1bs to load the bases, Morrison rbi-1b chases Stewart. SBL brings in Putz and Janish rips a 2-run 1b to tie the game 4-4. Putz then gets Colvin F9, and Escobar 4-3 but the damage is done. Solid work by both bullpens carry the game to the 12th where SBL finally win the game with a Wigginton solo-HR. SBL 5, FRE 4. Game 3: Another exciting game! Fremont again scores first in the 2nd on a Patterson rbi-1b. In the SBL 2nd Rivera gets an rbi-groundout after back to back 1bs by Lowrie and Barmes put runners at 1st and 3rd. In the 3rd Huff's sac fly makes it 2-1 SBL. In rthe Fremont 5th Blake bbs, Phillips FC, Swisher is HBP, Barajas rbi-1b, Iannetta reaches on a Rivera catchers interference call, and Viciedo rips a 2-run 1b for a 4-2 Fremont lead. In the SBL 6th Joyce bbs and eventually scores when Patterson drops a Lowrie fly ball. In the SBL 7th Rivera 1bs, Gomes is HBP, Crisp rbi-1b ties the game, Morse then follows with a 2-run 2b for a 6-4 SBL lead. In the Fremont 8th Iannetta 1bs, Escobarbs, Patterson 1bs to load the bases. Pestano comes on for SBL and Dejesus plates a run on a FC grounder. SBL gets an insurance run in the 8th on a Rivera rbi-groundout. Motte comes on and closes out the game for a SBL win. SBL 7, FRE 5. Game 4: SBL get on the board first in the 2nd on a Jaso rbi-groundout. SBL add two more in the 4th when Crisp 1bs, steals 2nd, Altuve bbs, and Morse rips a 2-run 3b. SBL Niese is dominant through 7 innings scattering 6 hits while walking 1 and fanning 7. But the SBL defense lets him down in the 8th after he fans Dejesus, Morse misses the bag on Escobar grounder, Cedeno then throws away Phillips grounder, and Swisher bbs to load the bases. But MM Miller I makes a strange call as Barajas flys out to Joyce in RF. He sends Escobar home, Phillips to 3rd, and Swisher to 2nd on the throw. SBL cuts the ball giving up the run as Swisher is nailed at 2nd. It would end up being a crucial play as Motte comes on in the 9th and Iannetta puts a scare in the home crowd with a solo-HR, but Motte is able to retire the next 3 for the save. SBL 3, FRE 2. Game 5: Fremont opens the scoring in the 1st when Blake bbs, Phillips 1bs, and a Swisher rbi-1b. In the Fremont 2nd back-to-back 2bs by Iannetta and Viciedo make it 2-0. SBL get on the board in the 2nd with a Huff solo-HR. In the Fremont 4th Iannetta bbs, Viciedo 1bs, Escobar sac, and a Patterson 2-run 2b make it 4-1 Fremont. In the bottom half after 2 out Huff reaches on a Blake error, Oswalt shaken by the error gives up a Moustakas 1b, a Ludwick rbi-1b, and a Barmes 2-run 2b to tie the game at 4-4. After Oswalt convinces Miller I to stay in the game Jaso rips an rbi-1b for a 5-4 SBL lead. That would be the final run as the bullpens take over and Motte eventually closes out the game for his 18th save. SBL 5, FRE 4. Game 6: SBL is looking for its first ever sweep in franchise history. Harden gets the job done as he tosses a CG Shutout, giving up only 4 hits, fanning 10, with no walks. SBL got all the runs they would need with rbi-1bs by Rivera and Crisp in the 5th inning. SBL added 3 more runs later for a 5-0 win. SBL 5, FRE 0. The Southbend Lynx earn their first ever sweep as they take the series over Fremont 6-0. Southbend was given a break when Fremont lost both C.Johnson and Gomez to long term injuries in the series. Southbend expects their magical mystery tour to end with Cocunut Creek coming to town in the next series. |

RBI's. Final Score Chicago 11 - Virginia 1 Chicago takes the series 6 games to 1, but it was a lot closer in each game than they show. Playing Head 2 Head on join.me is well worth it. |

- Bethesda hosts Hollywood and Hollywood in turn roasts Bethesda. Game 1-Hollywood scores three runs off reliever Shawn Kelley in the 10th to take it 5-2 after Heath Bell had blown the save in the bottom of the 9th. Game 2-A slight mismatch of Jered Weaver over Brendan Morrow. This one starts with a leadoff homer by Carlos Pena ... yes, Mr. K leads off, but the manager looks brilliant in making the call. Alex Gordon also homers. Morrow manages his usual 9 Ks in about six innings and falls 8-0. Game 3-Bethesda makes the most of a start against a potential ace and pounds Jeremy Guthrie and Co. for its lone series win 8-1. Kelly Johnson homered and had three RBIs on a couple of hits. Game 4-Hollywood scores four runs in the 9th when Shawn Kelley loads the bases and then gets none out to win 6-3. A nice little head-to-head collision after a foul ball knocked Kurt Suzuki and Mr Leadoff Carlos Pena out of action for a few days. Starting pitcher for Hollywood, Mark Buehrle, also loaded the bases with none out in the 9th but his bullpen allowed only one run to score to preserve the win. Game 5-David Price outduels Luke Hochevar as Hollywood scores 3 early and Bethesda scores two too late in another Hollywood win 3-2. Game 6-Dice-K goes the way of Andrew Dice Clay and allows 8 Hollwood baserunners to cross the plate in the 3rd inning. At this point, I was nodding off and more interest in cleaning goop off my keyboard so I think the game ended 9-1 Werewolves but not sure. |

- Severn visits Yonge Street Gm1) Of course Latos was great and Halladay fell to 4-7. Perfectly reasonable. YSS overcame 4 errors to win 3-1. Gm2) YSS had 3 more errors, (all 5 of SEVs runs unearned). SEV had 4 hits...but 2 were Cabrera HRs. SEV won 5-2. Gm3) Esmil Rogers took (at least) one for the team. Jemile Weeks went 5-6, and hit for the cycle. SEV won 25-7. Gm4) Tim Hudson was awesome. CGSO, 5H, 0BB, 11K. James Shields was good too. SEV won 2-0. Gm5) McCann and Pagan homered in support of Garland. SEV won 7-1. Gm6) Halladay came back strong and picked up the win. Luis Perez K'd 13 in 6.2 IP in the losing effort. SEV won 4-3. Gm7) Konerko and A-Rod homered. Gallardo spun 7 scoreless. SEV won 12-1. The visitors lost the opener but struck back with 6 straight wins. Both squads jump into the fire next week...SEV returns home to host TIJ...YSS heads to HOL. |

- The
series was more competitive than the record with three of the Tempe
wins coming in the later innings. We played the first two games head
to head online and either game could have ended differently with one
or two plays not being made. G1 - TEM 6-2 McCarthy W3-3, Hanson L4-4 Gonzalez doubled in the 1st and scored on a single by Peirzynski. In the 4th, Tulo tripled in two runs and then scored on a sac fly to put Tempe up 3-1. The Yinzers chipped away at the lead with another Gonzalez double and RBI by Peirzyinski, but Tempe's pen prevented further damage in the 6th. A two out triple in th 9th inning by Punto secured the win for Tempe. G2 - TEM 4-1 Clippard W 2-1, ByrdaK L 1-1, Holland S 12 Both starters dominated only giving up one run. Niemann's only mistake was surrendering a lead off homerun to Granderson. Cain waited until the 7th to surrender a solo shot to CarGo. In the 9th, the Yinzers pen fell appart and surrendered three runs. G3 - TEM 8-6 Holland W 5-0, Maholm L 4-8, Cippard S 4 Tempe knocked Maholm out of the game with five runs on six hits in three innings. Rodriguez who replaced Maholm didn't fair much better surrendering HR's to Duda and Pence. The Iron City bats woke up in the bottom of the fourth scoring 5 runs on Tempe's starter Stauffer including an Ibanez three run hr. Both teams added one more run in the 8th, but Tempe hung on to win another tight game. G4 - IRN 7-4 Ziegler W 1-0, Holland L 5-1 BS, Cordero S 13 Tempe blew a three run lead as Iron City rallied for five runs in the bottom of the 8th to come from behind and win their first games of the series. Murphy capped the rally with a three run homerun. Cordero shutdown Tempe for the save. G5 - TEM 6-1 Cain W 10-1, Linceum L 7-4 Lincecum surrendered four runs in the 1st and that was all Cain needed going another seven strong innings. G6 - TEM 8-2 McCarthy W 4-3, Rodriguez L 1-4 Adrian Gonzalez hit a two run HR in the 1st and then added RBIs on his next two at bats. Ruiz and Granderson each hit solo shots. |

- The Snappers use some timely hitting and solid starting
pitching to take 5 of 6 from the Musclemen. Game 1: Valdosta 5-2. Ryan Dempster (1-6) picked up his first win of the year and Brandon Allen hit his first HR of the year to push the Snappers past the Muscle. Game 2: Valdosta 2-1. Shelly Duncan's 6th inning 2 run HR was all rookie Randall Delgado needed as he picked up his first ML victory. Game 3: Valdosta 2-0. Kevin Correia (2-5) allowed just 4 hits with the CG victory. Snappers managed just 2 base knocks. Game 4: Valdosta 6-1. The Snappers' career win leader improved to 5-5 as Livan K'd 8 and allowed just 4 hits in 8 IP. Game 5: Valdosta 10-1. Carlos Zambrano (4-4) gave up as many hits as he collected (2) as the Snappers cruise to a rare easy win. Game 6: Motor City 6-2. Charlie Morton (4-5) scattered 9 hits and goes the distance as the Muscle salvage a game. |
