Southbend 5-2. VIR 6-5 A 4-run 8th gives VIR the win. Vlady 3-4, homer, 5 RBI. SBL 9-3 4 run 9th breaks open a close game for SBL. M.Morse 3-5, home run, 3 RBI. VIR 10-5 Sluggers up 10-2 after 5th and cruise. Markakis a homer and 4 RBI. Stanton a homer with 3 RBI. SBL 18-0 28 hits for Lynx!. Joyce 5-6, 5 runs. Moustakas 4-6, 2 homers and 7 RBI. VIR 8-0 T.Chatwood tosses 4 hit shutout. Markakis goes yard again and Schierholtz 3-5, 2 RBI. VIR 5-4 Markakis hits 2-run home run in 1st but his SF in 4th is decisive RBI. J.Garcia solid in the win. SBL 8-6 Lynx put up 6 spot in the 5th on A.Huff's Grand Slam. Bull pen holds off Slugger rally. |

- After being on the road for much of April, Hollywood finally heads
home. Game 1: Ian Kinsler gets Jered Weaver out to a 3-run lead in the first with a 3-run homer. He than homers again in the 4th to make it 6-1. Weaver is pulled with the 8-1 lead. Hollywood wins 8-4. Weaver goes to 6-2, lowering his ERA to 1.52. Game 2: Alex Gordon homers in the first to give Hollywood & David Price a 1-0 lead. Pedro Alvarez gives Pitt their first lead of the series with an RBI double in the 5th. It's followed by a Brendan Ryan single and a 3-1 lead. Colby Rasmus quickly answers in the bottom half with a 2-run homer to tie it. Wilson Betemit comes thru with a 2-out homer in the 8th to give Price a late 5-3 win. Price strikes out 13 in the win and picks up win #4 and Heath Bell, Save #3. Game 3: Gordon knocks a SF in the 6th to give Hollywood an early 1-0 lead. Jonathan LuCroy hammers a solo shot in the 7th to tie the game. Kemp homers in the 9th tog give Pit the 3-1 win. Game 4: Hollywood takes a 1-0 lead when David Ross hammers a double to center. Then when Carlos Pena hammers a double to left-center to get the 2-0 lead, Cody Ross and Andre Either collide into each other and are both lost for several days. Kinsler hammers another homerun in the 8-2 win. Guthrie goes a strong 5 and Edison Volquez finishes it for 4 innings. Game 5: Jason Kubel reaches on a FC in the 2nd, scoring Godon for the 1-0 lead. Starlin homers in the 3rd to stake Kershaw to a 5-0 lead. The Hollywood bullpen holds on as they win 5-4. Game 6: Starlin hammers his second homer of the series in the 1st for a 3-1 lead. Weaver cruises to win 7 in the 7-3 win. Game 7: Great pitching duel here. Ervin Santana goes 9 innings and David Price goes 9 inning as well, but strikes out 14. Jason Kipnis reaches on a FC, than scores to give Pitt the 1-0 lead in the 10th. Pinch Hitting, Jay Bruce doubles to lead the bottom half off. After Carlos Pena walks, Betemit sacrifices them over. Hanrahan settles down and gets the last 2 batters out to end the game and secure the Pitt 1-0 victory. Well, that was my first home series win of the year (Hollywood 5 to 2) and now I head back on the road.... |

- Elyria came to Yonge Street Gm1) The Indians 19 hit attack backed Zimmerman. Wieters HR'd and drove in 3. ELY 11-5. Gm2) The visitors tied it at 6 in the 7th, A 12th inning HR and 7+ scoreless relief IP made my head hurt. ELY 7-6. Gm3) M. Pineda was freakish. Furcal, Hafner, & Seth Smith HR'd in the blowout/CGSO. YSS 9-0. Gm4) Jurrjens was a bit hittable, but very effective. Cabrera/Craig combined 7-10 w/ 3 RBI. ELY 4-1. Gm5) ELY plated 5 (unearned) runs in the first and didn't look back. Lester moved to 9-0. ELY 7-3. Gm6) Zimmerman went the distance and fanned 11. Three Indians Homers were plenty. ELY 10-2. Ivan Nova was equally brutal as the SP in each of the bookend games. 2 GS, 13 IP, 22H, 6BB, 4K. 14ER. Yuck. Elyria kicked ass and took names. YSS will lick it's wounds and wait for SEV to arrive. What could go wrong? |

WP--Jansen LP--Herndon SV--Soria Gm 3: 6-0 WCS; Huff throws a CG 5-hit SO. Trumbo has 2 RBI and a run scored. Victorino and Torrealba continue to collect RBIs. Utley injured for 11 days. WP--Huff LP--Morton Gm 4: 12-2 WCS; Victorino Victorino has a HR and 4 RBI, Nunez contributes a 2-R HR. Andino has both MCM RBI. WP--W. Rodrigues LP--Karstens Gm 5: 6-4 WCS; MCM wastes two Chris Young HRs as Victorino (2 RBI) and Zimmerman (solo HR) lead the WCS attack. | Camarillo @ Bay State - The Quest venture into the Valley for a series with the Minutemen. The Baystaters take the first two with Jason Hammel spinning a complete game victory while Brandon Crawford paced the offense with three RBI in Game 1. Game 2 saw the Colonials battle back for an exciting bottom of the 9th victory on an Eli Whiteside two RBI pinch hit single. The Quest quickly put an end to the rebels uprising by taking the next 4, with stellar pitching and the Deadly Duo of Votto and Bautista. All and all another fun series. the Minutemen did get men on base but could not get the hit to push them across in the final four games.They continue to get good work out of the pen as the team relief ERA sits at 2.47. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

- Tough series for Manhattan G1 TEM 8-0 Colon W 5-1, Simon L 3-3 Simon was knocked out in the 2nd as Tempe scored six runs and sent 11 men to the plate. Gonzalez was 3-4 with a HR and 4 RBI. G2 TEM 3-2 Holland W 3-0, Joaquin L 0-1 Manhattan scored two runs on RBI hits by Ploufe and Drew in the 1st. Porcello had to leave the game after just two innings due to sore arm (INJ 6G). The Manhattan relief was almost unhittable until the Ruiz connected on a two run HR to tie it in the 8th. In the bottom of the 9th Granderson walked, stole 2B and came home on a base hit by Pence. G3 TEM 3-0 Holland W 4-0, Blackburn L 1-7, Clippard S 3rd Chacin was hit by a pitch in the 2nd (INJ 7G) but a Gonzalez's two run HR in 5th was all Tempe's pen needed. G4 - TEM 8-5 Philips W 1-0, Duffy L 1-3, Holland S 11th Freeman's two run HR in 1st helped Manhattan jump out to a 3-0 lead, but Tempe got three of their own to tie it in the bottom of the inning. In the 2nd, Duda hit a bases clearing triple to put Tempe up 6-3. Ruiz solo shot in 6th. G5 - TEM 8-2 Cain W 9-1, Burnett L 3-3 Gonzalez SAC fly in 1st. Ruiz three run HR in 4th. Cabrera three run HR in 7th. Hinske solo for Man in 8th. G6 - TEM 8-1 Colon W 6-1, Simon Manhattan scored one run on an rbi single by Freeman in the 1st, but Tempe hit through the order and scored 3 runs in the bottom of the inning. Tempe added four more in the 7th to put the game out of reach. Pence went 5-5 with the final hit a solo homerun in the 8th. |
