Southbend hosts Detroit Game 1 Barn burner has Detroit jump out to an 5-1 lead, only to see Southbend chip away and take the lead at 7-5. Detroit ties it at 7. Southbend takes a 10-7 lead in the 6th on rbi-1bs by Wigginton, Gomes, and Cedeno. That's how it ends as the pitchers finally decided to pitch. SBL 10, Det 7. Game 2 All SBL Niese as he tosses a 4 hit shutout with 8 Ks. Wood's 2-run 2b in 5th are all the runs in the game. SBL 2, Det 0. Game 3 Another strong outing by a SBL starter as Harden goes 7 giving up only 1 run. Putz and Motte handle the 8th and 9th out of the pen. Morse and Huff with solo-HRs for most of the SBL runs. Peralta drives in lone Detroit run with rbi-1b in the 6th. SBL 3, Det 1. Game 4 SBL continue to get strong outings from its staters as Harrison goes 6.1 giving up only 2 runs. SBL took the game over with a 2 run 6th (Huff bases loaded 2-run 2b) and 3 run 7th (Cedeno 2-run 3b and Crisp rbi-1b). Detroit got 3 in the 9th to make it close on a Longoria 2-run 2b and he eventually scored on Motte's wild pitch. But Motte fanned Smoak to end the game. SBL 7, Det 5. Game 5 Detroit finally gets in the win column behind a solid outing by Carrasco. After Deroit took a 2-0 lead in the first (Rbi-1bs by Beckham and Suzuki) Carrasco gives up a 3-run HR to Joyce, but he settles in and doesn't give up any more runs the rest of the way. MacDougal and Alburquerque close out the game for Detroit. Detroit tied the game in the 5th on a Saltalamacchia solo-HR and got the game winner in the 6th when Mabin was bb'd, stole 2nd, and scored on a Sweeney rbi-1b. DET 4, Sbl 3. Game 6 Again, SBL get a strong outing by a starter as Holland tosses a 2-hit shutout, fanning 6. Only 2 runs of the game came on a Joyce 2-run HR in the 6th. Detroit wastes strong outing by Moscoso who only gave up 3 hits. SBL 2, Det 0. Game 7 SBL Niese follows his sutout giving up only 2 runs in 7.1 innings. Niese does give up 8 hits but is able to pitch out of several jams and Putz and Motte close it out for the Lynx. Morse has an rbi-1b in the 1st and 2-run HR in the 5th to account for most of the SBL runs. SBL 4, Det 2. So, Southbend takes the series 6-1. A surprise to say the least! I figured I'd be competative but not to this degree. Morse has a big series for Southbend going 10-28, w/7 runs scored, 7 rbi, 3-2bs, and 3-HRs. |

- After a rocky start to the season, Severn finally gets above .500. Game 1 saw Pittsburgh SP Dan Haren go 7 strong for the win and Hanrahan get the win. Pittsburgh only amassed 2 hits off of hard luck loser Roy Halladay, but was able to plate 3 in the 3-1 victory. Game 2 Yovanni Gallardo pitched a complete game 2 hit shutout in the 3-0 win. Cabrera/Konerko had an RBI each. Game 3 Severn jumped on Anibal Sanchez early enroute to a 9-3 victory. Hudson went 7 innings for the win. The offense was led by Brian McCann's HR and 2 RBIs. Game 4 Halladay got plenty of run support in this game as the Express won 9-1. Halladay pitched a CG 4 hitter. Bryd, Konerko and Raburn all homered for the Express. Game 5 Blake Beavan got the start and allowed 1 run in 6 innings as the Express won 4-1. Downs picked up the save and Miguel Cabrera had a HR and 2 RBIs. Collmenter pitched a complete game in the loss. Game 6 Pittsburgh jumped out to an early 3-0 lead on a 2 run homer by Adam Lind. Severn inched their way back and was able to tie the score at 4 in the 7th on a 2 RBI double by Cabrera. McCann knocked in the game winning run in the bottom of the 9th as Severn won 5-4 and took the series 5 games to 1. |

- Game 1: Ian Kinsler leads off the Hollywood first with a homer.
That's really all that's needed, but rookie, Paul Goldschmidt,
clubbed 2 homers, including a Grand Slam. Hollywood wins 8-0. Game 2: Clayton Kershaw goes the distance in the 2-1 Hollywood win. Game 3: Jered Weaver went the distance in the 5-4 Hollywood win. Weaver gave up 4 unearned and lowered his ERA sub-1.00 in the win. Game 4: Nelson Cruz hammers 2 homers for Coconut Creek off David Price. Matt Garza and staff hold Hollywood to 1 hit - a Jay Bruce homer in the 1st. CCC wins 4-1. Game 5: Corey Hart hammers a homer in the 1st off Mark Buerhle and that's all that CCC needs. They cruise 10-0. Game 6: Alex Gonzalez homer lifts CCC to a 2-1 win, tying the series. Game 7: Kershaw goes the distance in the no-decision. Heath Bell gives up the winning run in the 10th. CC comes back and wins 4 after dropping the first 3 in the series. |

- The Bandicoots come into the Windy City and heads
back north with their tails between their legs. Game #1 – Brandon Morrow couldn’t escape the 1st inning, going only 2/3 of an inning allowing 6 earned runs. Chicago’s bats knocked out 13 hits, including 2 Home Runs. Francisco Liriano picks up his 1st win on the year. Game #2 – Josh Beckett goes 5 scoreless and gets pulled. The bullpen hold the shut-out on for Chicago. Neil Walker hits a 6th inning Grand Slam. Beckett improves to 5-0. Game #3 – Chicago’s bats continue to boom with 16 hits. Andrew McCutchen goes 3 for 4 with 4 RBI’s. Felix Hernandez goes 6 solid, allowing 1 run (Unearned) and the bullpen locks it down for the Mobsters. Game #4 – Fausto Carmona (Or whatever the hell his name is) goes the distance in a 7-1 Chicago win. Buster Posey goes 2 for 4 with 4 RBI’s, & McCutchen goes 3 for 4. Game #5 – Brandon Morrow comes back with a vengeance going 9.2 innings for the Bandicoots. C.C. Sabathia matches up with Morrow for 9 innings. Both pitchers allowing only 1 run through nine innings of play. Bottom of the 10th, 2 Outs, Bases Loaded (Jeter at first, B.J. Upton at second & Jim Thome on 3rd) for the Mobsters with the score tied 1-1. Denard Span at the plate, the runners take their lead - Morrow fires - It's a Chopper in front of the plate ... J. R. Towles charges out ... he's up with it, throws himself at the runner ... and he's out! ... no, wait ... it's all over! ... THOME scores he missed the tag and THOME missed the plate ... he slid by and reached back and touched it - what a play! Game #6 – Brett Myers goes 8.2 innings and Drew Storen picks up his 2nd save of the year for the Bandicoots. Diory Hernandez & John Jay knock Home Runs – Final score 5-3 Bethesda. Bethesda has some tired players headed into the off day and the on to south Florida at Coconut Creek. Chicago is well rested and set up to face division rival Yonge Street Stalkers next weekend. |

- DAL visits YSS Gm 1) An ugly affair. Each team committed 4 errors (Venable had 3) . Nova pitched well enough. YSS 8-4. Gm 2) Not the strongest outing for Luis Perez. HR's from Hundley and Betancourt pace DAL. DAL 11-4. Gm 3) Esmil Rogers was awesome. Carp & Conger HR'd. YSS 6-1. Gm 4) An insane affair. YSS tied the game at 2 in the btm of the 9th. Then came 10 scoreless innings. Kudos to both teams pens. The Cougars tallied 3 runs in the top half of the 20th. Gritty, Gutty YSS rallied for 3 to tie it in the bottom of the 20th, and pulled out the win in the 21st. YSS 6-5. Gm 5) Dallas Braden injured (38 days) in the 1st inning, the day after a 21 inning loss. Let's go to the pen! 3 DAL RP hold YSS to 1 run. :( DAL 4-1. Gm 6) Nova continued his strong start and the home teams took the finale. Emaus inj (5 days) YSS 5-2. Their were 2 error-less games. The teams combined for 19 errors in the other 4 games. DAL returns home to host SEV, YSS heads to CHI. |

WP--Schlereth LP--Pavano SV--Parnell Gm 5: 10-5 JNE; Tired Motor City bullpen can't hold down the Jersey offense. Thames is the hitting star for Jersey with 3 RBI. - A truly pathetic showing by the Snappers results in the
Capitals trouncing Valdosta 6-1. Lewis and Lee will both battle for
pitcher of the week honors. Game 1: Sacramento 10-3. 3 HR's by Capitals hitters propel Cliff Lee to his 2nd win of the year. Game 2: Sacramento 4-1. The newest addition to the Atlanta Braves and the Snappers leader in lifetime wins, Livan Hernandez (3-2, 3.71), pitched ok but with just 2 hits from his offense there was no hope. Eric Bedard (1-1, 1.29) collected his 1st win of the year. Game 3: Sacramento 11-1. Colby Lewis improved to 5-0 as he scattered 8 hits in 6 1/3 IP. Zambrano (3-1) was tatooed for 8 runs in 7 IP. Game 4: Sacramento 6-0. Verlander (7-0, 0.72) allowed just 1 hit while striking out 10 in 8 IP. Ryan Dempster (0-4, 8.74) K'd 13 but also allowed 13 hits. Game 5: Sacramento 5-0. Another day and another 1 hitter. This time it's Cliff Lee (3-0, 2.16) going 7 2/3 of 1 hit nall. Game 6: Valdosta 3-1. Even a blind squirrel finds a nut once in a while. Travis Wood moves to 2-2 and Craig Kimbrell collects his 9th save. In fact Kimbrell has a save in all 9 wins this season for the Snappers. Game 7: Sacramento 11-2. Back to reality as Lewis moves to 6-0 and Livan gets pounded again. |

- G1 - Paulino vs Cain Two run homerun in the bottom of the 8th gave Tempe the 3-2 lead. Encarnacion hit a two out double to tie it in the 9th. Thorns loaded the bases with one out in the 10th but Tempe turned a double play. Beltre knocked in his 3rd RBI in the bottom of the 10th. Tempe 4-3 G2 - Masterson vs Colon Masterson had a one hitter going until until the 7th when Beltre hit a solo shot. Tempe added three more runs for insurance. Tempe 4-0 G3 Vargas vs Chacin Baker made an emergency start at SS and led off with a HR. Posada also hit a bases clearing double as Roseville jumped out to an early 5-0 lead in the 1st. Tempe started the come back in 2nd on a Gonzalez two run HR and jumped ahead in the 6th on a bases clearing triple by Pedroia. Tempe 8-5 G4 Haran vs Stauffer Roseville made the most of two hits and were leading 2-1 until Tempe rallied for two in bottom of the 6th. Tempe 4-2 G5 Beachy vs. Cain Duda's two out, pinch hit double drove in two and broke open a tight game. Weeks and Tulo had solo shots earlier in the game. Ruiz out for the next 5 games after being hit by Beachy. Tempe 5-2 G6 Paulino vs Colon Paulino stranded eight Tempe runners and pitched a complete game shutout. Posado and Encarnacion each hit homeruns. Roseville 5-0 G7 Masterson vs Stauffer Tempe smacked Masterson and Thorn's pen around. Stauffer went the distance for the complete game shutout.
