Coconut Creek @ Fremont - The Cannons take it to the Crushers in this series, winning 5 of 6. Lot's of unearnd runs for both teams. Scripts attached.

Game 1: Humber gets 10 K's and the Crushers lead the whole way, winning 6-2.
Game 2: Ricky Nolasco's mediocre outing beat Shaun Marcum's terrible outing, as the Cannons win this 9-5
Game 3: Hiroki Kuroda went the distance for Coconut Creek, but was clearly laboring at the end. Two runs in the eighth iced it for Fremont in the 8-5 win. Juan Nicasio picked up his first MWBL victory. Barring a freak injury, the future looks bright for the youngster.
Game 4: A matchup of the #1 pick in the 2012 draft against Fremont's longtime ace, both pitchers lived up to their billing, pitching complete games. In the end, it was only a Chris Johnson HR that separated the two, allowing Roy Oswalt to defeat Ryan Vogelsong for the 1-0 Fremont victory.
Game 5: Chad Billingsley scattered 10 hits with 10 strikeouts, holding on for the Fremont 6-3 victory. A 2-run HR by Ryan Howard in the eight brought the Crushers within striking distance but they were unable to get any more.
Game 6: Carlos Quentin's second homerun of the game in the eighth inning brought the Crushers to within one run, but that was it as Fremont won 4-3.

Jersey @ Camarillo - Camarillo takes 5 of 6 from New Jersey. Camarillo bats finally show up in this series - they improve 10-10 overall.

Tempe @ Bay State - Series highlighted by Mike Minor no hitter in Game 2.

Motor City @ Long Beach - Long Beach and Motor City split the 6 game series.

Sacramento @ Clovis - Oh the pain....Whatever dreams the Clovis Wheat Kings had of regaining some self respect this year came to a grinding halt this week when the Sacramento Capitols came in for seven. The Caps took 6 of 7 to put the Wheat Kings in their place. Most of the games were close but the Capitals just had more power bats than the Wheat Kings could contend with.
Game 1: Two run bombs from Molina and Hardy lead the Caps to a 6-2 win.
Game 2: a pair of Josh Willingham homers lead the Caps to a 4-1 win, Lewis goes to 4-0 on the season.
Game 3: George Kotteras' 11th inning triple proved the big blast in a 9-8 Capital win, Cano added a grand salami as well.
Game 4: Great pitching duel between Verlander and Francis, Caps take it 2-1 after homers from Youkalis and Pill.
Game 5: Roberts blasts a 3 run shot to lead the Capitals to a 9-4 win.
Game 6: Belt lifts a big fly worth 3 runs in the bottom of the tenth to pace Clovis to a 4-1 win, their only bright spot of the series.
Game 7:Verlander goes to 6-0 and Pujols starts to break out of his slump with a homer and a double to lead Sacramento to a 4-1 win.
Next up Valdosta gets a chance to slow down the Sacramento juggernaut and Clovis will try to rebound against Iron City.

Iron City @ Owensboro - After starting the season with a 13 game road trip, Owensboro finally comes home to play its first Home series of the year, against divisional 1st place, Iron City, and its nonstop stable of good starting pitchers.

After several well fought battles, Owensboro emerged slightly victorious, with a 4-3 edge against its division foe:

GAME 1 - OWN 4; IRON 0
W - Hamels (3-1) - CG SHO; L - Lincecum (2-1); Sv - none
HR: Ortiz (3)
Owensboro starts its series with high hopes behind a solid performance from Hamels. The Yinzers only manage 3 hits.

GAME 2 - IRON 6; OWN 2
W - Niemann (2-0); Wells (1-1); Sv - Cordero (5)
HR: C.Gonzalez 2 (5,6); Ibanez (3)
Iron City evens the score with a commanding performance by Niemann. Gonzalez drills 2 solo shots to put the Yinzers on top. PRIDIE is lost for 17 days in this contest - may want to DL him.

GAME 3 - IRON 4; OWN 3
W - Maholm (2-1); L - Vazquez (1-2); Sv - Cordero (6)
HR: Gonzalez (7)
The Yinzers prove that they came to to play as they take another close contest by a count of 4-3. Neither SP dominated and this one was basically decided by the 4th inning. Gonzalez goes 2 for 3 with a HR and 2 RBI in the contest.

Game 4 - OWN 3; IRON 2 (10 innings)
W - Varvaro (1-0); L - Frieri (0-1); Sv - none
HR: Berkman (2)
Gonzo goes off again (this time in a losing cause), but his heroics arent enough to push the visitors over the top as Owensboro evens the series at 2 games a piece. Hellickson pitched very well but was denied the win by the bullpen, as Frieri and Frasor coughed up the winning run.

Game 5 - IRON 6; OWN 4
W - Hanson (2-2); L - LeCure (0-1); Sv - Cordero (7)
HR: Murphy (2); Hughes (2)
Iron City storms back after the game 4 extra inning loss to pound out 12 hits and 6 runs off a spotty performance from LeCure. Byrdak does his best to make us feel good about ourselves, as he coughs up a bunch of sympathy runs without recording an out. Four Yinzers have two (2) hits each.

Game 6 - OWN 6; IRON 3
W - Hamels (4-1); L - Lincecum (2-2); Sv - none
HR: Murphy (3)
Not too much to report here. Owensboro strung together its share of luck hits in this contest, which were enough for the win. Hamels sends Lincecum to the loss column for the 2nd time in the series.

Game 7 - OWN 1; IRON 0 (12 innings)
W - LeCure (1-1); L - Niemann (2-1); Sv - none
HR: None
RUBBER MATCH - seems appropriate that this evenly matched series would come down to an extra inning game in the rubber match, ending in a narrow 1-0 victory by the home squad. Owensboro only manages 4 hits against Niemann and Cordero, but they are just enough to hold on for the victory.

SUBMITTED FOR YOUR REVIEW is Carlos Gonzalez's (Iron City) body of work for this series:
7 games; .379 average; 11 hits; 3 runs; 2 doubles; 2 triples; 3 HR's; 8 RBI; and 1 SB.

A little better than your average bear.

Valdosta @ West Coast -  From the Field of Dreams in Union City, CA...

Valdosta and West Coast meet for an early season showdown to help determine the runner up to Tempe in the NL Central and injuries galore!

Utley lost to WCS in the first game for 11 days. Floyd throws a complete game in game 1 for the 11-3 cruise-control win.

In Game 2, Correia and Huff in a pitchers' duel. Huff throws 9, but it goes to extras with the score tied 2-2. Perez gives up two homers in the top half of the tenth, but Kimbrel allows 3 to score in the bottom half to give West Coast a 5-4 triumph. Trumbo has 2 solo homers and a double, with Trayvon Robinson getting the game winning RBI.

Game 3 has Travis Wood taking it on the chin for the Snappers after Baker spotted them 2 runs in the top of the first. He gives up 6 runs in 3+ innings. Victorino has 3 hits for the Swing.

Livan Hernandez allows the Swing to score a run in the first after the first two hitters get on, but then settles in to throw 8 innings. Wandy Rodriguez allows two in the fifth on a Denorfia RBI double. Kimbrel pitches a racist (KKK) ninth for the save.

Game 5 sees the Swing's vaunted bullpen explode to the tune of a 3-run eighth and a come from behind 4-3 win. Hamilton has 3 hits and 2 RBI for the Snappers.

In the first inning of game 6, Bay and Gonzalez collide on a pop up, with Bay down for 10 games and Gonzalez for 6. The play was ruled a
double for Bogusevic. Floyd is again solid for the Swing. Pierre and
Cuddyer each get 3 hits.

In the final game, Victorino hits a 3-run blast in the third and the Swing score twice more in the fourth against Correia. Millwood allows a 4-run fifth, but his bullpen pitches 3 scoreless, though Perez is lost for a couple of days after straining a muscle.
