Southbend continues to play well at home (costing me valuable draft
positioning) as they take 4 out of 6 from 1st place Tijuana. I'm
sure that makes Chicago happy! Both Matt Harrison and Ty Wigginton have big series for Southbend. Harrison toosses a shutout and only gives up 1 run in 6 innings inhis other start for 2 wins. Wigginton hits 4 HR's in the series which included a 3 HR game. |

Bethesda hosts the Coconut Creek Crushers and although a few of the
games were close the Bandicoots are outclassed and drop 5 of 6. Game Highlights - game 1 - Bethesda reliever Chance Ruffin implodes in the 7th innings walking four batters and turns a 5-3 lead into a 11-5 loss. Mark Reynolds (36) and Corey Hart (22) homer for the Crushers. - game 2 - Matt Garza tosses a 3-hit shutout as CCC takes this one 4-0. Luke Hochevar pitches pretty well for Bethesda but takes the loss with 7.2 innings of work to fall to 5-19. - game 3 - Marco Estrada fans nine in just five innings and Josh Thole and Chris Davis each have two hits as Bethesda hangs on to win 4-2. Mark Reynolds (37) hits another homer for CCC. - game 4 - Corey Hart goes 4/5 and Nelson Cruz drives in three runs with a bases clearing triple in the 5th to boost Shaun Marcum (W, 13-8) and the Crushers to a 4-2 win. Bethesda only managed three hits in the game, but one was the game's only homer - John Mayberry's 16th - which is pretty miraculous given that Brian Matusz (L, 0-9) got the start for Bethesda. - game 5 - Ryan Vogelsong and Brett Myers each had no hitters going into the 5th inning, but Johnny Damon's second double of the game in the 8th made the difference as CCC took the game 1-0. Vogelsong gave up only two hits in the complete game shutout and walked two and struck out eight while Myers also went the distance for Bethesda on five hits, two walks and six strikeouts. - game 6 - Another pitching implosion turned a lead into a drubbing, but this time it was Henry Sosa staying in just a little too long and giving up five runs in the 6th inning as the Crushers closed the series with a 11-6 victory. Cory Hart (23) hit his second homer of the series. Michael Brantley (6) hit one out for Bethesda. Hart was 4/5 in the game with a couple of runs scored and 5 RBIs. Brantley had three hits in five at bats for Bethesda. Coconut Creek [81-57] returns home after this series to face the division leading Hollywood Werewolves as they fight for first or a wildcard spot against the Chicago Mobsters. Bethesda [40-98] braces themselves for their 100th loss of the season as they host the Mobsters. |

- Manhattan @ Clovis for a 6 gamer. Game 1: Man 6 Clo 3, 11 innings. Ramos 2 run homer makes Bergesen the winner, Robertson picks up the save. Game 2: Clo 7 Man 3. Penny k's 10 in going the distance. Bloomquist, Belt, and Heisey all homer in support. Game 3: Clo 6 Man 3: Gonzalez notches 14th win and Wilson gets the save, Gardner knocked in two for the Kings. Game 4: Clo 3 Man 1: Cook goes the distance in 3 hitter, Belt knocks in a pair. Game 5: Clo 4 Man 3: Bailey wins his 3rd straight, Reyes and Heisey both double in a run in 6th to chase Simon. Game 6: Man 4 Clo 2: Hinske breaks up 2-2 tie in 8th with a double, Fowler chips in with another in 9th to salt it away. Was a really good series, no blowouts and every game could have gone the other way with a lucky bounce here or there. |

smacks around Onslaught. OWN bats on vacation as they only manage to score 3 runs in last 5 games!!! CAM shuts them out 3 of last 4............. GM 1: OWN 8 CAM 4 Onslaught charges out of the gate looking strong....David Ortiz (3/5 4rbi) smashes 2 home runs. Bautista matches him for Quest. CAM's Ondrusek gets tossed after beaning Luke Hughes. Hamels pitches a gem for OWN going the distance, allowing only 4 hits and collecting 12 K's! Cole is now 17-7. GM 2: CAM 4 OWN 1 Randy Wells hits 2 batters and just cant get the job done backed by an ineffective offense. Keppinger & Votto go yard for CAM. GM 3: CAM 7 OWN 0 Bautista hits a GRAND SLAM for CAM and its all Quest as Onslaught could only muster 2 hits in this game. GM 4: CAM 11 OWN 2 Keppinger's 4 RBI lead Quest to victory. GM 5: CAM 5 OWN 0 Doug Fister throws a 1 hit shutout; Aybar 3/5 in Quest win. GM 6: CAM 8 OWN 0 Aybars lead off solo HR is all CAM needs as they take their 5th game of this series. |

- The Snappers somehow manage a split with the Thorns in
Valdosta. Game 1: Roseville 7-3 (10 Innings). Matt Downs had a great game, going 4 for 5, 2 HR's and 3 RBI's to power the Thorns offense. Game 2: Valdosta 4-1. Carlos Lee spoiled Carlos Zambrano's (5-13) shutout bid with his 24th HR with 2 outs in the 9th. Game 3: Roseville 4-0. In the first of four straight shutouts Aaron Harang (10-10) tossed a 1-hitter as the Thorns win easily. Game 4: Valdosta 1-0. Ryan Dempster (5-15) with a 4-hitter. Game 5: Valdosta 2-0. Travis Wood (4-7) with another 4 hitter. The game was won in the bottom of the 9th when with 2 outs Alberto Gonzalez reached on a Weeks E. Todd Frazier then PH and launched a 2-run HR for the game winner. Game 6: Roseville 4-0. Justin Masterson (7-13) was masterful as he breezed through the game with a 3-hitter. |

- Tempe recorded the
surprising sweep over the defending champions. All of the games were
close and George could have easily won the series if he had received
normal production out of Pujols who went 0 for 20. Crazy Stat -
Cliff Lee was beaten three times by Matt Cain during the series.
Both pitchers started game one and game six. They each also came in
during an extra inning battle in game four after all relievers were

relatively quiet as there are four shutouts in the six-game series.

WP--Hellickson LP--Karstens Gm 2: 6-1 MCM: Moseley answers with a CG of his own, marred only by CarGo's second HR of the series, in the top of the 9th. Ordonez has 4 RBI on a 3-R HR and RBI 2B. Moseley also has RBI 1B. WP--Moseley LP--Hanson Gm 3: 5-0 IRN; Lincicum tosses a CG 2-hitter. Pierzynski has 3 RBI on 2-R HR and RBI 1B. Ibanez has a solo shot. WP--Lincicum LP--Morton Gm 4: 9-4 IRN; Maholm pitches well, chips in an RBI 1B. Carroll 2 RBI, Rios bases loaded 3B. Young has 3 RBI for MCM.
