Coconut Creek @ Yonge Street
- The Crushers from Coconut Creek visit Yonge Street. Gm 1 - Ervin Santana pitched around 7 walks in 7.1 innings while Ryan Howard supplied the "O", with a 3 run HR. Austin Kearns homered and doubled in the loss. CCC 6 W - Santana 5-2 YSS 2 L - Lee 4-2 Gm 2 - This time it was Anibal Sanchez pitching around 6 walks in 6.1 innings, while Chris Duncan started to show the signs of his big series. Four errors weren't nearly enough to slow down the Crushers. Duncan led the way with 2 HR's and 3 RBI. Langerhans added his first HR of the year. CCC 8 W - Sanchez 4-0 YSS 2 L - Patterson 2-2 Gm 3 - I'm beginning to notice a trend. Rich Harden works around 7 walks in his 7 shutout innings, allowing just 2 hits. Brad Hawpe hits the games only HR. CCC 4 W - Harden 1-2 YSS 0 L - Shields 2-4 Gm 4 - Rich Hill only walked 5 in his 7 innings, and CCC scored 2 runs in the top of the 9th to win their 4th in a row to open the series. Langerhans and Duncan homered for CCC, while Hafner hit a worthless 3 run bomb early. CCC 6 W - Putz 2-3 YSS 4 L - Medders 0-1 Gm 5 - In a strange twist, Jamie Moyer only walked 1 Stalker, but got lit up for 6 runs in his 6.1 innings. Halladay pitched just well enough to win. Chris Duncan hit 2 more homers in the losing effort. YSS 6 W - Halladay 4-2 Sv - Papelbon 11 CCC 5 Moyer 3-4 Gm 6 - A great pitchers duel to end it. Ervin Santana (7.2 IP) and Cliff Lee (8.1 IP) are both masterful. The game was tied at 1 going to the 10th. CCC scored a run in the top half off Joe Nathan, but YSS scores twice in the bottom off Putz to win it. YSS 3 Nathan 1-0 CCC 2 Putz 2-4 Chris Duncan played in just 4 of 6 games, but had 5 HR and 9 RBI. Ervin Santana pitched 15 innings, allowing just 2 ER on 6 hits. The 10/11 K/BB ratio never jumped up and bit him. Next week, CCC continues on the road to Canton, while YSS heads to Hollywood to try to right themselves. |

Hollywood @ Tijuana
- Hollywood visits Tijuana for a 6 game series this weekend.... Game1 Hollywood sends out young stud Jered Weaver who throws 7 strong allowing only 1 run but Tijuana ace J. Peavy 1-ups him by throwing 8 scoreless. M. Gonzalez pitches a perfect 9th to pick up his 13th save on the year as Tijuana takes the opener 1-0. Game2 Hollywood bangs out 14 hits(3 of them homers) yet only manages 5 runs. Tijuana on the other hand manages only 7 hits but thanks to 8 walks(all courtesy of Werewolf starter T. Gorzelanny) pushes across 8 runs and takes this one 8-5. Game3 A. Beltre leads the offensive charge for The Bottle Rockets knocking in 5 as the home team cruises to an 11-4 victory. The Big Unit goes 7 solid innings to pick up the win and raise his record to 4-1 on the year. Game4 P. Fielder blasts his 8th homer of the year in a tie game in the bottom of the 9th to propel Tijuana to victory. M. Gonzalez picks up the win and also his 1st blown save of the season as he allowed 2 inherited runners to score in the 8th to tie the game. Tijuana wins by the score of 7-6. Game5 J. Lieber pitches a CG shutout and P. Fielder provides the only offense of the game with a 2-run blast in the second inning. Hollywood loses another close game 2-0. Game6 **********RAIN OUT************ The rain out prevents Tijuana from calling it a sweep but they do take the first 5 putting them into position to possibly take over first place in the ALC. | New River @ Kentucky - Kentucky wins 4 games out of 6. Troy Glaus raises his average from .206 to .219, but he hits 2 homers and 11 RBI in five games. Ben Sheets makes a start worthy of POW consideration. |

Ann Arbor @ Camarillo
- Game 1 - Camarillo 7 Ann Arbor 0 Joe Saunders, making his first appearance of the year, went 6 scoreless innings, along just 2 hits to pick up the victory. Josh Barfield doubled, singled, and drove in 2 runs in the victory. Game 2 - Camarillo 9 Ann Arbor 2 Livian Hernandez pitched 8 strong innings and also added 3 hits, scored twice and drove in a run. Shea Hillenbrand had 4 RBI. Game 3 - Camarillo 10 Ann Arbor 3 A five run 7th put the game away for Camarilo. For Ann Arbor teammate Gary Matthews had 3 hits, scored 3 times, and drove in 3 runs. Seldom used Chris Shelton had 3 hits. Game 4 - Ann Arbor 3 Camarillo 2 Kirk Saarloos improved his record to 4-3, going 7 1/3 innings without allowing a run. Rob Mackowiak's 2-run homer, his first of the year, was the difference. Game 5 - Camarillo 17 Ann Arbor 2 Tied at 2 going into the bottom of the 6th inning, Camarillo exploded for 15 runs over the next two innings and went away with the easy victory. Chris Shelton added 4 more hits to an impressive series thus far. Game 6 - Camarillo 10 Ann Arbor 1 Jeff Suppan pitched the complete game and improved his record to 3-5. He struck out 7 and allowed just 3 hits in the victory. Juan Uribe drove in 5 runs, giving him 25 on the year. Gary Matthews went 2 for 5 and improved his batting average to .355. Series Note: Camarillo took the series 5 games to 1 and improved their overall record to even for the year. Ann Arbor just doesn't field a competitive team and will be lucky to win 40 games this season. They have many young prospects, so look for them to be a factor in the coming years. |

Los Angeles @ Tempe
- Riots continue their dirty play throwing at Tempe players and
hitting 7 in the 6 game series. G1-Alou and Young go deep and Arroyo cruises G2-Bay makes a shoestring catch and then throws out the tying run (17 speed) at home to preserve the 8-7 win. G3-Pujos goes deep twice. G4-Riots play dirty as usual and bean Clemens. The Rocket shakes it off and throws an 11 inning shutout for a 1-0 win. G5-Tempe jumps out to a 8-0 lead and then barely hangs on for a 8-7 win. G6-Riots throw the winning run out at the plate in the 6th and then get the go ahead HR from Ross in the 11th. Tough series could have easily gone 4-2 for either side. |
