- YSS welcomes Buffalo north of the border. Gm 1) Cliff Lee, itchy; due to injury...comes out strong. He held the Braves to one run, a Rich Aurilia RBI single, over 6+IP. Marcus Giles led the Stalker offense, with a 3 run triple. YSS 4 BUF 1 W - Cliff Lee 3-1 L - C. Lidle 1-4 Sv - Papelbon 9 Gm 2) It was John Pattersons turn in game 2. He went 7 strong, allowing 3ER, while striking out 8. Marcus Giles continued his strong series with a HR and 3 more RBI. David Wright also HR'd. Jason Varirek supplied the Braves offense with a HR of his own and all 3 RBI. YSS 6 BUF 3 W - Patterson 2-1 L - Bannister 0-2 Sv - Papelbon 10 Gm 3) Steve Trachsel took the brunt of the Stalkers fury in game 3. Ryan Church belted a 2R HR in the 2nd, Hafner hit a 2R HR in the 3rd, and David Wright yet another 2R HR in the 5th. Jacques Jones added one of his own to supply half of BUFs runs in the loss. YSS 8 BUF 4 W - J. Shields 2-2 L - Trachsel 1-3 Sv - Nathan 1 Gm 4) The Stalkers were set up well...winning the first 3 games behind their "weakest" 3 SP. The Braves scored 1 in the 4th, and added 3 in the 5th on an RBI single fron Shawn Green and a 2R HR from Overbay. The Stalkers tied up the contest with a Hafner solo shot, and a Giles 2 run single in the 7th. Kazmir was left in to face the lefty Overbay to start the 8th, and was greeted with a solo shot that turned out to be the Game Winner. BUF added 2 more in the 9th. BUF 7 YSS 4 W - K. Foulke 3-1 L - Kazmir 3-2 Sv - M. Wise 3 Gm 5) Chris Carpenter threw a CG 2H Shut out. Maddux also pitched well, but surrendered a 2R HR to Jonny Gomes early for the only 2 runs of the contest. YSS 2 BUF 0 W - Carpenter 3-3 L - Maddux 2-2 No Sv opp Gm 6) Tim Wakefiled out dueled Halladay. The knuckler was knuckling. Wakefield went the distance and K'd 9. Halladay also went the distance, but the Braves tallied 3 runs, including another Overbay HR. W - Wakefield 2-3 L - Halladay 2-2 No Sv opp Buffalo comes back nicely, after dropping the first 3 games. They take 2 of the last 3, beating Kazmir and Halladay in the process. Buffalo returns home to host TIJ, and Yonge Street heads to Canton next week. |

| Detroit @ Fremont - Fremont has played a lot of close games so far, and this series was no exception. Fremont wins the first 3 by scores of 2-1, 1-0 and 7-6, loses the fourth game 4-3, loses the fifth 6-1 (though with 10 hits they certainly could have made this a one-run game), and takes the finale 3-2. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

- The Mobsters of Chicago come south to Virginia...I wish they
hadn't. It aint the Slugger team you use to know...where o where did
the pitching go????? Gm.1 CHI 7-3 W-Hamels (2-2) L-F.Garcia (3-2) Bonds sets the tone with a 2-run blast in his first at bat to put CHI up 2-0. Olivo's single ties it at 2 all in the 4th. But But Barry U.S. (which stands for u suck) Bonds gives the fans another souvenir and a 3-2 CHI lead. In the 7th, Andrew Jones and Vernon Wells go back to back for the final 7-3 score. Gm.2 CHI 8-3 W-Sabathia (5-1) L-Vazquez (0-3) Aramis Ramirez gives the Sluggers a 2-0 lead with his 8th home run of the year. After W.Taveras closes it to 2-1 with an rbi triple, ex-Slugger Nomar Garciaparrasays hello to his old home by sending a ball deep into the seats for a 3-2 Mobster lead. Nomar adds an rbi double in the 8th and that Bonds guy keeps one in the park with a 2-rbi pinch hit single in the 9th. Ramirez cranks his 2nd homer of the game in the 9th but it's too little too late. Gm.3 CHI 7-1 W-Zito (4-2) L-H.Ramirez (0-1) Horacio Ramirez gets his first start of the season and wishes he hadn't. A bases loaded walk to Andrew Jones in the 3rd, followed by Vernon Wells' 2-run single puts the Mobsters out in front to stay. Durham's rbi triple in the 6th and Ortiz' rbi triple in the 7th simply add to more runs CHI doesn't need in an easy 7-1 win. Gm.4 VIR 3-1 W-Pettitte (3-3) L-Beckett (4-2) When you need a win give the ball to Andy. A complete game 2-hitter gives VIR a victory over the Mobsters. Aramis Ramirez accounts for all VIR runs with an rbi double and a 2-run homer. Gm.5 CHI 5-4 W-F.Hernandez (2-1) L-Marcum (0-2) A close one. Sluggers start it with a Vlady rbi in the 1st. CHI takes the lead 2-1with an Andrew Jones solo shot and a Ryan (UVA) Zimmerman rbi double. VIR comes right back on Everett's rbi...2-2 and go up 4-2 as the hot hitting Aramis Ramirez rips his 11th homer of the year in the 6th. The 7th was VIR's downfall. Big Papi's SF makes it 4-3 and the pesky Andrew Jones ties it at 4 with an rbi single. Then, with Chipper Jones on 3rd, Will Ohman comes in and uncorks a wild pitch. Chipper siezes the opportunity and races home, just getting his hand under Laird's tag. With a 1 run lead guiess who the Sluggers get to see???? How about Zumaya and Wagner! Can you say "Shut the Door?" They did. Gm.6 CHI 10-1 W-Hamels (3-2) L-F.Garcia (3-3) Hamels, Donnelly, and Coffey combine on a 3 hitter. Thome's 5th of the year is the only blemish. Bonds and Zimmerman (his 1st) leave the yard early as the Mobsters go up 2-0. Thome makes it a 1 run game but then the flood gates open. 5th inning: Jeter - rbi double, Bonds-rbi single. 6th inning: Andrew Jones- home run, Scutaro-rbi single, Jeter-SF. 7th inning: Andrew Jones-rbi double, Zimmerman rbi ground out. 8th inning: Bonds-rbi single. Finally it's over. Well, Chicago is not too bad a team. We did hold them to just 38 runs in 6 games. They only won 5 of 6 but it was mostly luck and very close games. If they had a decent bullpen they could probably do better. And if they ever add a big bat,...look out. Just checking to see if anyone really reads these :) One bright spot for VIR...Aramis Ramirez 10-23 .435 5 runs, 8 rbi, 4 home runs. For Chicago - Bonds 8-19 .421 5 runs 8 rbi 3 home runs. Andrew Jones 8-27 .296 3 runs 9 rbi 3 home runs. |

- The Crushers from Coconut Creek pay a visit to The Bottle
Rockets of Tijuana in this 6 game series.... Game1 An offensive explosion sees Tijuana score in each of the 1st 6 innings. L. Berkman has 5 rbi's to lead The Bottle Rockets to the 13-7 win. Game2 CCC gets a boost from B. Wilkerson's solo blast to break a 4-4 tie in the 7th. CCC adds another and holds on for the 6-4 victory. Game3 R. Johnson goes the distance allowing a lone run while Berkman hits his 13th homer of the season and drives in another 4 runs giving him 35 on the year. Tijuana rolls 11-1. Game4 CCC's turn to score some runs. Homers by A. Ethier(former Bottle Rocket) and R. Paulino lead The Crushers charge as they score 9. That is more than enough for R. Hill who goes 6 scoreless and R. Soriano gets the rare 3 inning save while giving up a run. Crushers take it 9-1. Game5 The lone pitchers duel in the series. CCC's J. Moyer takes a no-no into the 6th and a shut into the 7th but runs into some trouble in the 7th and 8th allowing 3 runs total. J. Lieber pitches brilliantly throwing 8 shut innings. M. Gonzalez pitches the 9th for his 10th save. Tijuana takes it 3-0. Game6 This one is over early as CCC doesn't let J.P Howell get out of the 2nd inning. Lidge comes in to replace him and doesn't fair much better as TIJ finds itself in a 7-0 hole after 2. The Crushers cruise to the easy 11-3 victory. The 2 teams split the series 3-3 in what was mostly lopsided games of offensive explosions. Next Week TIJ@BUF ELY@CCC |

a pinch-hitter in the 13th. Game 2: TOP 10 CAM 1 - This was the first slaughter of the series - 18 hits - no mercy. Game 3: TOP 11 CAM 0 - Delgado hits 9th homer of the season and drives in 5. Game 4: TOP 10 CAM 3 - Camarillo's relievers are spent - 6 RBI for Dye. Game 5: TOP 3 CAM 1 - Huff's 3-run homer in the 7th was the difference.
