Game 2 - Garland pitches CG, 4 hit shut out as Express win 2-0. McCann has a HR and 2 RBIs. Game 3 - Bonser improves to 3-0 as Severn wins 7-2. Chris Woodward had 3 hits and 2 RBIs. Game 4 - Webb improves to 4-1 in the 10-2 victory. Morneau and Bill Hall hit HRs. Game 5 - Olsen gets the win in the 6-3 victory. ARod goes 4-4 with 2 Hrs and 4 RBIs. |

Kentucky @ Ann Arbor -
Game 1 The red hot Kentucky Head Hunters who arrive in Ann Arbor with a 7 game win streak have little trouble making it 8 in a row. Glaus (4) and Posada (4) belt homers and Ohka (2-1) gets the win. Headhunters win 8-1. Game 2 If Game 1 was easy, game 2 was a breeze as Ben Sheets whiffed 15 Bluebirds in 8 innings. The hometown Bluebird fans were disappointed that Big Ben didn't pitch the 9th but Kentucky management figured 32 batters was enough for Sheets. Giambi homered and Glaus (.165) blasted 2 more homers and batted in 6. Game 3 The Bluebirds put an end to the 9 game win streak as Jason Vargas and Edgar Gonzalez combined to contain the Headhunters as the Bluebirds doubled up Kentucky 6-3. Glaus (7) still homered but an 11 hit attack that was spread out through the line-up was too much for the Headhunters E. Ramirez (2-1) as he lost his first game of the year. Game 4 Business as usual as the Headhunters win 15-2. The only question is did Glaus homer? The answer is yes, as did Blanco, Posada (twice), and Kendrick. Game 5 Fourteen men left on base is a hard stat to overcome and even the powerful Kentucky Head Hunters didn't have enough offense to compensate for the lost opportunities as the Bluebirds got dingers from Jenkins and Mora and went on to win 5-3 in spite of being out hit and outfielded. So, Kentucky clearly overpowers the Bluebirds from start to finish but only manages to win 3 of 5. |

Another home stand, another single victory for the hapless Yinzers…This
time it’s Midland who takes four of five from Iron City. Game 1: Midland 6, Iron City 1 Clay Hensley improves to 3-1 with a 0.88 ERA with a CG victory, allowing just six hits and one run. Carlos Beltran and Mark Teixeira homer in the victory. Mark Redman fall sto 0-5Russ Martin extends his hitting streak to 11 games. Game 2: Midland 6, Iron City 5 Midland jumps out to a 3-0 lead, but Iron City scores three in the sixth to tie it. The teams trade runs in the seventh and eighth, but Midland’s run in the ninth off of loser Kirt Birkins is the decider. Huston Street gets the win for Midland. Beltran homers for the second straight game and this time Matt Murton joins him. Martin homers to extend hit streak to 12 games. Game 3: Midland 5, Iron City 0 Aaron Harang tosses a three-hit shutout to improve to 2-2 for Midland. Mark Teixeira drives in a pair of runs. Kris Benson picks up his first loss of the season for Iron City. Game 4: Iron City 10, Midland 1 Paul Maholm gives the Iron City a respite by tossing a CG, two-hitter. A Torii Hunter homer in the ninth spoiled the shutout. Russ Martin had three hits and three RBIs (13 game hit streak) and Eric Byrnes drove in a pair. Game 5: Midland 5, Iron City 3 Matt Cain gets the win with six good innings. Huston Street gets save No. 8. Joe Crede hits two homers and drives in a pair while Brian Roberts homers and drives in three as Sean Marshall gets the loss. Martin gets three more hits to raise his average to .456. |
