Tied at 8 going into the late innings T. Salmon hits a solo shot in the bottom of the 8th which turns out to be the game winner for Tijuana. M. Ann Arbor @ Toad Hollow - Melvin Mora and the Ann Arbor Blue Birds played the Toad Hollow Predators to a 3-3 series split, where bullpen arms forgot how to play baseball and Mora tried to hit a home run for each one of his children.

Julio Lugo with a home run, and Brad Asmus leads the way with 3 hits.

Game 2: AAB 3, THP 7
Edgar Gonzalez hit Lastings Milledge in the head the first time through the lineup. Milledge hit a Gonzalez fastball out of the yard to tie the game, 2-2 the next time around. The home run ignited the Predators, as they went on to score six runs in the innings, and fend the Blue Birds off for the remainder of the afternoon.

Ann Arbor was able to blast its way past the Predators. Melvin Mora had a pair of jacks. Jose Reyes and Ryan Garko also found the seats.

Game 4: AAB 1, THP 2
Dan Haren took a no hitter into the ninth, and retired the first two batters but Joe Borchard doubled to shatter the Predator's first hope of making any kind of news this season. Still, Mike Napoli's 2-RBI triple in the third inning provided Toad Hollow, which made four errors, with all the runs it would need.

Game 5: AAB 6, THP 7
Mike Sweeney went 3-for-4 with a bomb on his way to a 4-RBI afternoon. Matt Garza and Jason Isringhausen shut down the Blue Birds in the 8th and 9th to wrap up the game.

Ann Arbor scored twice times in the eighth and once in the ninth – including a 3-run Melvin Mora jack – to come back and knot the game 4-4.

Tempe @ Iron City  - After winning the opener to provide false hope, the Iron City Yinzers lost five straight to the Tempe Tempers…

Game 1 – Iron City 3, Tempe 0
WP: Aaron Sele, 2-1
LP: Bronson Arroyo, 2-1

Sele tossed a three-hit shutout in the opener. Russ Martin extended his hitting streak to eight games and Ronnie Belliard drove in a pair for the Yinzers.

Game 2 – Tempe 5, Iron City 0
WP: Brett Myers, 3-0
LP: Mark Redman, 0-4

Myers went seven shutout innings, striking out five and yielding four hits. The Yinzers committed four errors, which led to three unearned runs. The Tempers had just six hits, with Manny Ramirez driving in a pair.

Game 3 – Tempe 12, Iron City 3
WP: Josh Hancock, 1-0
LP: Eric Milton, 2-2

This one was ugly. Milton had to leave with an injury (10 days). Fernando Cabrera, his replacement, was ejected for plunking Roger Clemens in the ribs. Clemens himself was tossed the following inning for hitting Brady Clark. And this was still in the second inning. Hancock went 3 2/3 of one-hit relief for the win. Moises Alou homered and drove in five for the Tempers.

Game 4 – Tempe 7, Iron City 6, 10 inn
WP: Soloman Torres, 2-0
LP: Kirk Birkins, 1-2

Tempe had leads of 4-1 and 6-3, but the Yinzers scored three times in the ninth to tie the score, only to cough it up in the 10th. Eric Chavez and Paul Konerko each homered twice, with Chavez driving in four runs. Russ Martin went 3-for-5 to extend his hit streak to 9 games, but struck out with the winning run on second and two outs in the bottom of the ninth.

Game 5 – Tempe 6, Iron City 1
WP: Bronson Arroyo, 3-1
LP: Paul Maholm, 0-3

Some more shoddy Yinzer defense led to four unearned runs as Arroyo went 7 2/3 strong innings for Tempe.

Game 6 – Tempe 6, Iron City 0
WP: Brett Myers, 4-0
LP: Sean Marshall, 1-1

Myers made a claim for pitcher of the week honors by going 8 1/3 shutout innings, giving him 15 1/3 scoreless IP for the series. He struck out 10 in this start. Paul Konerko and Eric Chavez both homered again. Reed Johnson was hurt and will miss 15 games. The only bright spot for the Yinzers was Russ Martin extending his hit streak to 10 games. He’s now hitting .422 in an early push for Rookie of the Year honors.

Los Angeles @ Topeka  - Los Angeles takes 5 of 6 from Topeka. Willis (Topeka) throws a no-hitter for the Talons only win.

Camarillo @ Garden City  - The Gangstas manage to take 4 of 6 from the quest. No time for a write up. Highlight was Verlanders no hit bid being broken up with 2 outs in the bottom of the ninth. Ouch.
