Coconut Creek @ Yonge Street  Game #163 One Game Playoff - The Yonge Street skipper went with his gut. James Shields got the call in the decisive playoff game. Dustin McGowan retired Freel on a ground out, but Hafner and Edmonds got to Sweeney in the first with matching RBI singles. The Creek came back to tie it in the top half of the 3rd on a Freddy Sanchez 2 run HR. Rafael Furcal responded in the bottom half with a 2 run single of his own. David Wright stole a base, and came around to score on 2 Sweeney wild pitches. 5-2 YSS after 3. Connor Jackson drove in a run in the 4th, as Matt Capps started rolling. An Andre Ethier solo shot in the 6th cut the lead to 5-4 YSS. Rafael Soriano came on for the 8th. Furcal greeted him with a solo shot. He walked Schneider and then gave up the final blow...a 2 run shot to Ryan Freel. Capps went 4.1 scoreless in the losing effort. YSS takes it 8-4.

Elyria @ Fremont - Needing only one win to secure the division, thanks to Buffalo's shocking win over Canton, Fremont cruised to an 8-0 win in game one. The only drama left was to see if the Cannons could finish over .500, which their 3-2 series win ensured (they finished at 82-80).

Canton @ Buffalo - The Buffalo Braves upset the Canton Indians by taking the series 4-1!

Scores:

9-3 Indians

5-4 Braves

9-6 Braves

3-2 Braves (14)

8-4 Braves

Detroit @ Chicago - Chicago takes 3 out of 5 and more importantly to the Chicago manager stays healthy heading into the 2007 MWBL playoffs.

Yonge Street @ Tijuana - With a playoff spot on the line Yonge Street ends the season with a visit to Tijuana for a face to face match up. Cliff from Coconut Creek will be pulling hard for the hometown Bottle Rockets as there are 2 unlikely scenarios that will extend his season. The 1st would be the sweep, which would send Cliff to the playoffs and a 1st round match up with Severn. The 2nd would be 4 victories from Tijuana , which would force a 1 game playoff between CCC and YSS. With an offense full of "A"vailables and a bullpen full of W's Tijuana will try to make it interesting.

Game 1
Both clubs throw their aces. Peavy for the home team and Cy Young favorite R. Halladay for the visitors. Halladay was not sharp and combined with spotty defense Tijuana pounded out 9 runs in 3 innings.
Halladay and a reliever settle down and end up not allowing another run.
Meanwhile The Stalkers offense chips away scoring a run in the 5th and 6th to close the gap to 9-5. Enter the 9th H. Kuo allows 2 base runners and forces Tijuana to go to their closer. M. Gonzalez......He promptly allows those 2 guys to score plus a base runner of his own before finally shutting the door. *TIJ 9 YSS 8

*Game 2
YSS jumps all over A.J Burnett knocking him out after 6 runs and 1 inning. The home team tried to comeback by scoring 5 runs in the 6th but they just didn't have the bullpen to keep it close late. YSS in a rout and 1 win away from clinching a playoff berth. *YSS 14 TIJ 6

*Game 3
A battle of lefties as R. Johnson faces off against S. Kazmir. Due to football neither manager was paying attention to the beginning of this game and we had to assume that there was a rain delayed start since after the 1st pitch each starters grade dropped.....Johnson went from a
9 to a 6 and Kazmir went from 14 to a 9. It was a rough start for The Unit as he gives up 2 solo shots in the 1st. TIJ answers back by scoring a run in the 1st and 2nd...and 2 runs in the 3rd to go up 4-2. Another solo shot in the 6th brings YSS to within 1 but TIJ gets it back in the bottom half on L. Berkman's 50th homer of the season. The bullpen(the little we had left) takes over from here to blank YSS the rest of the way and lead TIJ to the win. *TIJ 5 YSS 3*

Game 4
The Bottle Rockets destroy G. Maddux scoring 8 runs(6 earned) in 3 innings. With the big lead D. Cabrera relaxed and was effective allowing
5 hits 4 walks and 4 runs while striking out 11 en route to the complete game victory.* TIJ 11 YSS 4*

Game 5
The visiting Stalkers need this one to clinch a playoff berth. A loss sends them back home for a 1 game playoff vs The Crushers from Coconut Creek. Tijuana wanting to spoil sends out A.J Burnett on only 2 days rest(he wasn't tired) because all other options would be like giving up(can you say J. Lieber or J. Pineiro). The Stalkers decide to go with C. Lee against a left handed heavy Tijuana lineup. While he may not have had the "T" AJ sure pitched tired. The Stalkers got to him for 5 runs in
3.2 innings before he was ejected for hitting his 2nd batter of the game. Fortunately for the home team C. Lee was not at his best either as he allowed 3 runs before getting tossed in the 4th for a retaliation throw that hit P. Fielder. With both starters gone the home team trails 5-3. From this point, the battle weary Tijuana bullpen stepped up. For the Stalkers the pen would not be as kind. L. Hudson gives up 2 in his 3 innings and allows TIJ to tie it up. J. Papelbon would complete the letdown by giving up a run in the 8th to allow TIJ to take the lead.
With the most excitement since opening day The Bottle Rockets trot out their wild closer to try and lock it down. R. Freel steps up and routinely flies out. 1 down. Next batter N. Johnson coaxes a walk uh-oh.
MVP candidate D. Wright flies out for the 2nd out. Taking a gamble they pitch to Hafner who takes a walk(oh boy!!). 2 men on Speizio steps up and hits a routine fly!!! game over!!!! *TIJ 6 YSS 5*

Tijuana sends The Stalkers home wondering what the heck just happened as they take 4 of 5 games and keep Coconut Creeks post season hopes alive.

Coconut Creek @ Hollywood - Well, Coconut Creek needed to come to Hollywood and sweep them if they were to have any hopes of the playoffs. Well, Hollywood turns it around and sweeps Coconut Creek right out of the playoffs.....

Wait a second.....I just woke up from my dream....As it turns out, Coconut Creek does just that, sweeps Hollywood. Only 1 game was close, the rest was a blood bath....

Yonge Street's magic number is 2...They need just one victory in Tijuana to assure themselves a 1 game playoff, 2 to secure themselves a meeting with Severn

Virginia @ Severn - Severn wins 3 of 5 from Virginia

Kentucky @ Iron City - Kentucky sweeps Iron City to finish at 102-60; the same as the Midland Mud Hens.

Game 1
KEN 10 9 0
IRN 1 5 1

All Kentucky in this one. Hanley Ramirez, making his best case for ROY, goes 4-4 with 5 runs scored, 3 RBI, a homer, and 4 stolen bases. Mussina finishes the year at 15-9.

Game 2 (10 innings)
KEN 5 5 1
IRN 4 7 1

Kentucky scores 2 in the top of the 10th, and Iron City plates 1 in the extra frame but it isn't enough.

Game 3
KEN 6 10 0
IRN 3 9 2

Hanley Ramirez and Ichiro go deep for Kentucky. Eric Byrnes and Travis Lee homer for Iron City. Kentucky scores 3 runs in the final two innings to break a 3-3 deadlock.

Game 4
KEN 7 12 0
IRN 5 6 0

Joes Contreras pitches well enough to earn his 18th win against only 5 loses. Kentucky held a 4-1 lead before scored 2 in the 8th. The Yinzers score 4 in the bottom of that inning bringing the game to 6-5. Kentucky adds one run of insurance in the 9th for the final score.

Game 5
KEN 4 8 2
IRN 2 3 1

BY Kim pitches a gutty 8 innings for the victory. Marcus Thames hits a pinch hit two run homer to make it close. Eight different Head Hunters get one hit each for a balanced attack.

Ann Arbor @ Midland - Midland clinches a tie for the division title by taking 5 of 6 from Ann Arbor. Now we just have to wait to see how Kentucky does against IC.

Game 1: Eric Bedard gives up 2 hits over 8 innings and the offense provides 6 runs as Midland wins the makeup game 6-0. Beltran and Crede go deep.

Game 2: The Mud Hens score 5 in the first and 5 in the third to coast to a 15-3 win. Hunter gets 3 hits including 2HRs. Sowers gives up 2 hits over 6 innings.

Game 3: In a close game Midland hangs on to win 3-2. Cain gets the win with help from the pen. Beltran goes deep again.

Game 4: Jose Reyes and Brent Clevlen get HRs off reliever Reyes in the 7th to give the Birds their lone win. Gonzalez gets the win and Sanchez the save. AA 7 MID 5.

Game 5: Harang goes all the way to lead Midland to 5-0 win. The offense is keyed by Drew's base loaded triple.

Game 6: Eric Bedard gets his 2nd win of the series and 16th for the season as Midland wins 8-4. Tori Hunter and Brian Roberts crack dingers for Midland and Jose Reyes gets one for AA.

Tempe @  Garden City - Tempe comes into Garden City and takes the life out of the Gangstas.

Game One - Tempe outhits the Gangstas and in the end outplayed them. Brett Myers tosses a three hitter thru seven. Gangstas come back and get two off of the relief but the Tempers take it 4-2.

Game two - Woody Williams does his job and secures a victory 5-3.

Game Three - a Rain delay knocks Myers from an 11 grade to a 6 but he still manages to toss 7 innings of two hit ball. Johnson does his best and gives up one unearned run through 8 but the tempers get two of Saul Rivera in the top of the ninth in route to a 3-0 win securing their spot atop the central.

Game Four - 19 Grade Shane Youman (Yes Shane Youman) comes in and knocks Ian Snell and the Gangstas back.
Gangstas can only manage 1 off an Alex Rios solo shot.
Tempe wins 3-1.

Game Five - Verlander tries for the elusive 90th win a franchise high for the Gangstas against 3 Grade Jorge Sosa. What the hey you got to do what you got to do to keep a guy, and the Gangstas they likey. Gangstas get a 5-3 win.

All close matchups that could have gone either way.
Sorry to those who were pulling for my boys but we gave it our all. The mighty Tempers move on, but the Gangstas are ELATED with a NINETY win Season.

New River @ Topeka - New River takes 3 of 5 from Topeka.

Los Angeles @ Toad Hollow - Los Angeles sweeps Toad Hollow 5-0. All the games were close but Toad Hollow couldn't get a key hit when they needed one and finish 70 games behind LA.

Camarillo @ Northridge - Camarillo takes 3 out of 5 from the Quakes
