Buffalo @ Elyria - No News out of Elyria.

Fremont @ Canton - Fremont and Canton battle to .500 and the division of futility at stake. Game five was a crusher for sweet Lou.

Tijuana @ Detroit - Detroit splits with Tijuana.

Chicago @ Yonge Street - Chicago takes the series and clinches the American League Central.
Game #1 - Josh Beckett improves to 14-7 (3.92) as Chicago takes game one 6 to 0
Game #2 - Yonge Street Storms back and takes game two 5 to 2, Chris Carpenter gets the win 15-9 (3.50) and Jonathan Papelbon picks up his 25th save.
Game #3 - Felix Hernandez 14-6 (3.72) goes 7.2 innings, Vernon Wells blasts a 3 run HR, and Billy Wagner picks up his league leading 40th save.  Chicago wins it 5 to 2.
Game#4 - All C.C. all the time.  Sabathia improves his record to 20-4(3.07) Andrus Jones has the big hit, a 3 run HR off Yonge Street Starter Jamie Shields.  Chicago wins it 7 to 0.
Game #5 - Yonge Street jumps out to a 7 to 0 lead knocking out Mobster starter Barry Zito in the third inning.  Chicago chips away at the lead, tying the game in the seventh, and taking a 8-7 lead in the top of the ninth on a solo shot by Derek Jeter.  Billy Wagner closes the door in the bottom of the ninth for his 41st save.  Chicago wins it 8 to 7 in a heart luck loss for the Stalkers.
Game #6 - A back and forth nail bitter.  Dimitri Young and Juan Rivera both have 3 RBI, 1 HR games for the Mobsters, David Wright blasts 2 HR's and drives in 4 RBI for the Stalkers, but the Mobsters prevail 9 to 8.  Billy Wagner grabs his 42 save for the Mobsters.

Hollywood @ Virginia - Virginia took the series 5-1. The final game was a heart-breaker. Weaver had a no-no going to the 9th...well, read it below.

Gm.1 HOl 8-5 Adam Lind's 2-run homer was the defining blow in a Werewolves 3 run 9th that broke a 5-5 tie.
Gm.2 VIR 7-5 This time it was VIR with 9th inning heroics. Vlad crushes a walkoff grand slam to give the Sluggers the win.
Gm.3 VIR 11-6 34 hits between the two teams, but VIR makes theirs count. Light hitting adam Everett is 3-3 with 3 rbi.
Gm.4 VIR 4-1 F. Garcia pitches a CG scattering 5 hits for his 18th win. Cameron goes deep in a 2-4 2rbi showing.
Gm.5 VIR 15-3 Cameron stays hot, leading a 17 hit attack as he launches 3 homers (including a granny) in a 4-5, 7 rbi performance.
Gm.6 VIR 2-1 Jared Weaver spins a gem for Hollywood...until the 9th. With D. Bell's rbi standing as the lone run in the game, Weaver entered the 9th with a no-no. After getting Bartlett, Jim Thome turns on a fastball and sends it deep into the night. No-no gone, shutout gone. After Helton becomes out number 2, Nick Markakis ends it with a walkoff shot just over the fence to ruin a great pitching performance.

Severn @ Coconut Creek - The Crushers came into this series needing to somehow crush "pun intended" Severn in order to retain postseason hope.

Game-1 was picture perfect. Mcgowan pitched as if he was already a star. He mowed down Severn and the offense provided plenty of support in winning 12-2.

Game-2 was a pitching duel between Zambrano and Sanchez. Rafael Soriano comes on in the 8th inning of a 3-2 Severn game. He promptly gets lit up for 2 homers and Severn wins 6-2.

Game-3 is a battle of lefties...Olsen vs Moyer. Both offenses scratch out 3 runs and the game goes extra innings. It is now a battle between Hoffman and Putz, both grade 20. The Crushers manage to push across a run in the bottom of the 12th inning to win 4-3.

Game-4 sees Severn crank out 5 homers to back Webb in an easy 9-4 win.

Game-5 and the Crushers get 20 baserunners and push 8 of them across in a sloppy 8-5 win.

Game-6 and Boof Bonser is dealing for Severn. After 7-1/2 innings Severn is winning 8-1 and has 1-hit the Crushers. Fernando Rodney-grade 18- is summoned to mop up the victory. Suddenly the Crushers offense realizes we need to win this game in order to have any chance at the division crown. In the 8th inning the Crushers load the bases and Atkins clears them with a grand slam to make it 8-5. Rodney stays on to pitch the 9th. A couple hitters later and Ethier parks one to make it 8-7. Rodney continues pitching and unfortunately manages to close it out and split the series.

Midland @ Kentucky - Midland visits Kentucky with a 0.5 game lead in the National League East. Whoever finished second in the division is in a battle for the wildcard spot against Topeka (Kentucky enters this series with a 2 game lead over Topeka for the final playoff spot). Calling this a big series is an understatement....

Iron City @ Ann Arbor - Sept 14
Garko (8) dials long distance with a 3 run shot in the 10th as the Bluebirds win 4-1.

Sept 15
Borchard belts 3 dingers...the last one in the 10th to replicate game drama as his 3 run shot gives the Bluebirds the win 7-4.

Sept 16
Figgins, Benson, and Renteria homer for Iron City as they win 6-5.

Sept 17
Marquis goes 8.1 and is now 8-17 as the Bluebirds win 5-1.

Sept 18
Sele goes to 13-10 as Iron City wins 2-1.

Sept. 19
Redman gets off the schnied with his first win (1-15) as he goes the distance in the Iron City 4-3 win.

Topeka @  Tempe - The Curse of Huff seems to be alive and well. My theory is - If you trade him, he comes back and beats the crap out of you when the season is on the line.
Not much evidence, but here is what I’ve seen. Hollywood traded Huff to Tempe for Eric Gagne back in the day. Later, the two teams met in the World Series. Gagne gets rocked all series and Huff comes up big and drives in the winning run. Tempe later trades Huff to Michigan/Topeka and Huff (in the biggest series of the year between these two teams) hits 3 game changing homeruns.

G1 – Thompson vs Clemens
Thompson leaves for 16 days after just 2.7 innings so Silva gets the call. Topeka gets a run in the 2nd and two more in the 4th on a HR from Huff off Clemens.
Silva gives up solo shots to Reed Johnson and Alou in the 5th and 6th but the pen holds on to the lead. Tempe leaves 11 runners on base.
Topeka 3 – Tempe 2

G2 – Dontrelle vs Pedro
Tempe scores first with an rbi double in the 3rd but Topeka responds with two runs in the 4th. Quinlan ties it up with a pinch hit solo shot off Dontrelle in the 7th. In the bottom of the 8th Young singles in the go ahead run with two out.
In the top of the 9th Huff again bails out Topeka with a homerun. This time a game tying solo shot off Youman. Topeka then adds the go ahead run on a double with two outs.
Willis stays in the game and pitches the bottom of the 9th. He lets the first hitter reach and then picks him off. He then gets the next two hitters for the complete game.
Topeka 4 – Tempe 3

G3 – McLeary vs Arroyo
Arroyo pitches a complete game 1 hitter for his 20th win of the year. Manny takes McLeary deep in the 1st and Young doubles in a run in the 6th for Tempe’s only runs. McLeary also pitched all 8 innings for Topeka.
Tempe 2 – Topeka 0

G4 – Lackey vs Myers
Tempe loads the bases with no outs on three singles in the 1st but only gives up 1 run. (that basically sums up the whole series for Tempe). In the 3rd Dye triples in 2 runs and later hits a 2 run shot in the 9th to put the game out of reach. Lackey only gave up one run in six innings. He also picked up a key rbi.
Topeka 6 – Tempe 2

G5 – Miner vs Clemens
Clemens puts Tempe on the board with a sac fly in the 3rd. Tempe adds one more in the 4th and two more when Lowell singles with the bases loaded in the 6th. In the 7th, Clemens starts to stumble when Paul hits a key two out double to cut the lead in half. He then falls apart in the 8th when Dye takes him deep with a 2 run shot to tie it up! Littleton (recent pickup) bails out Clemens and pitches three scoreless innings from the 9th to the 11th. So, …with two out in the bottom of the 11th Konerko walks, Bloomquist pinch runs and steals 2nd, and Lowell singles him home for the win!!!!!
Tempe 5 – Topeka 4

G6 – Silva vs Youman
Carlos Silva, a 3 grade and winner of game 1 faced off against Shane Youman, a 16 grade and looser of game 2. . In the top of the 1st, Topeka loaded the bases but Youman got out of the jam without giving up a run.
In the bottom of the 1st Rowand lead off with a HR and Manny also added a solo HR to give Tempe the 2-0 lead. So, with the 16 grade now a 17 and Silva on the ropes it looked like Tempe would escape with a split.
But that all changed when the curse of Huff occurred again! Tempe forgot how to field and made two sequential errors. Then HUFF took Youman deep for a 3 run shot!!!
Topeka 4 – Tempe 2

Topeka thumps Tempe in a series that was suppose be the clincher for the Tempers. Topeka moves to within 3 games of Tempe and 1 game of the Wild Card!

Garden City @ New River - New River takes 4 out of 6 from Garden City.

Northridge @ Los Angeles - No News out of Los Angeles.

Toad Hollow @ Camarillo - Camarillo takes 5 of 6 in the series. Jeff Suppan tosses 2 complete-game shutouts in the series and improves his overall record to 13-11.
