YSS 4 CAN 2 Gm 2) Jamie Shields and Jamey Wright have almost identical pitching lines, the only difference is one important run. They both go 6.2 innings, give up 9H and 2BB, and strike out 5. Shields surrenders 1 run, Wright surrenders 2. YSS 2 CAN 1 Gm 3) Former Stalker Jake Westbrook goes the distance and beats Chris Carpenter and his old squad. 9 innings, 4H, 4BB, 8K and 1 run. Josh Bard continues a strong series with 2 doubles and an RBI. CAN 3 YSS 1 Gm 4) Luke flippin' Hudson goes the distance for the home team surrendering 3H and 3 BB while striking out 9. The one Canton run is unearned. This "lowers" Hudsons ERA to 6.80. YSS 8 CAN 1 Gm 5) YSS got out quick behind a Jonny Gomes Grand Slam, and led 5-0 after 3. CAN tied it at 5 in the 8th behind a barrage of singles. However...YSS pulled away in the bottom half of the 8th and held on. YSS 8 CAN 5 Gm 6) Greg Maddux goes 7 strong and Gomes hits another HR. The Stalkers prove to be too much. YSS 7 CAN 3 Josh Bard was a machine for Canton. He played and had at least 1 hit in all 6 games. Actually...the only game he didn't have an RBI was game 4, but he had 2 in game 5. He finished the series 10-24 with 2 doubles, 2 homers and 6 RBI. The road doesn't get any easier for Canton, as they return home to host Severn, while YSS heads to BUF. |

- VIR loses the first game of the series but then reels off 5
straight for a 5-1 series victory over Detroit. Gm.1 DET 8-2 J. Santana shuts down VIR. B. Molina 3-5 homer and 2 RBI. A.Ramirez hits #30 for the Sluggers. Gm.2 VIR 5-0 McClung throws a complete game, 3-hit shoutout. O.Hudson has 2 hits and Vlady goes deep. Gm.3 VIR 1-0 Another complete game 3-hit shutout. This one by J.Vazquez. A.Ramirez hits #31 for the only run of the game. Gm.4 VIR 5-3 Pettitte gets the win but it's V.Guerrero's 2 home runs and 4-4 4 RBI performance that assures the victory. Gm.5 VIR 4-1 F.Garcia goes the distance with a 4-hitter. Langerhans' homer is Crime's only run. Helton pops one for VIR. Gm.6 VIR 4-0 Marcum with a 4 hit shutout against J.Santana. Abreu 2-3 a home run and 2 RBI. Crime had a serious lack of offense in this series, scoring 6 total runs in 6 games. For once, the Sluggers mediocre pitching got lucky. |
