YSS 7 CHI 3 Gm 3) Roy Halladay CGSO. Gabe Gross drives in 3, while D. Wright and Church knock in 2 apiece. YSS 8 CHI 0 Gm 4) YSS wins the battle of the bullpens. Nathan and Papelbon combine for 3 scoreless to end it. Jeter HR's for CHI, and Spezio HR's for YSS. YSS 10 CHI 6 Gm 5) Carpenter outduels Beckett. Jeter and Andruw HR for CHI, but Papelbon gets the final 4 batters for his 16th Save. YSS 3 CHI 2 The ALC is all knotted up. YSS surprises and takes 4 of 5 from The Mobsters. Divisional play continues next week, CHI returns home to host DET, while YSS visits TIJ. |
| Hollywood @ Virginia - Hollywood has a season high 3-game winning streak when they take the first 2 games of the series. Game 3 was exciting when Hollywood ties it with a 7-spot, but loses it to a Thome 2-run HR in the 8th. This would have given them a 4 game streak.... Well, Virginia goes on to win the next 3 games and the series 3-2. |

The teams split the two 1-run games. Severn takes 2 of 3 in the
blowout games. Cabrera and Howard both have good offensive series.
Game-3 featured the Crushers #3,4 & 5 hitters each blasting two homers each with Howard and Atkins also getting 6 RBI each. |
| Midland @ Kentucky - Kentucky gets lucky in winning 3 games out of 5 from division rivals Midland. Midland has double digit hits in every game of the series, and Midland pounds out 13 homeruns to Kentucky's 3 homers. Kentucky now leads the National League East by 2 games. Midland is the best roster the NL East has seen in several years with pitching, defense and a TON of hitting. |

Topkea Talons vs Tempe Tempers - This was a tough series between division rivals G1 - TEM 8 - TOP 6 Tempe squeezes out the win. Topeka pounded out 12 hits, took 7BB, and reached base on two TEM errors...but they hit into 3 DP and also left 12 runners on base. HR - Matsui and Manny G2 - TEM 5 - TOP 3 Alou hits a sac fly in the bottom of the 8th to break a 3-3. HR - Alou, Manny, and Dye G3 - TEM 6 - TOP 4 Topeka jumps out to a 4-1 lead on a 3 run hr and solo hr from slugger Damian Miller. Tempe chips away on the lead with a 2 run pinch hit double by Thomas and goes on top with 2 run pinch hit homer by Quinlan. HR - Miller (2), Quinlan G4 - TOP 8 - TEM 2 Topeka slugged 4 homeruns and Chris Young took a shutout into the 8th. HR - Dye (2), Delgado, Huff, Thomas G5 - TOP 4 - TEM 3 The score was tied 1-1 in the bottom of the 7th. The Tempe manager resisted the urge to pinch hit for ace Clemens and the move paid off. Fossom beaned Clemens and he eventually scored. In the bottom of 8th Clemens came up with 3-1 lead, 2 outs and runners on 2nd and 1st. The Tempe manager decided to go for the kill and brought in the Big Hurt. Thomas singled but it only loaded the bases and Topeka was able to get out of the inning. In the top of the 9th Dye led off with a solo homerun to make a 3-2 game. With two outs and runners on the corners pinch hitter Saenz slugged a double to give Topeka the 4-3 lead. Meredith closed out the bottom of the 9th to pick up his 19th save. I wonder if the micro would have left Clemens in the game :). Well, at least Topeka isn't doing any better at home.
