- Detroit visits red hot Yonge Street. Gm 1) Mussina and Patterson battle valiantly, but it's the bullpens that decide this one. DET's closer, Chris Ray (former Stalker), does his level best, but is pushed a bit past his limit. Ray gave up the deciding run as he started his 5th inning in relief. YSS's 2 pen studs do what they're supposed to do. Nathan and Papelbon combine for 4.2 innings of scoreless relief to win the first game. It's YSS's 15th win in a row. YSS 4 DET 3 (12 innings) Gm 2) A very nice pitchers duel. DET's combo of Nate Robertson and B. Sweeney hold the home team to just one run. Kazmir goes 8 for YSS, but gives up 2 runs in the defeat. YSS 15 gm win streak is halted. DET 2 YSS 1 Gm 3) YSS comes right back behind Roy Halladay. Nick Johnson leads the way on offense with 2 homers and a double, while driving in 5. YSS 7 DET 1 Gm 4) Johan Santana. Thats all ya need to know. YSS put 4 runs on the board off the DET pen in the 9th, but couldn't quite finish off the comeback. Johnny Damon drove in 3 for the visitors, while Duffy and Soriano went deep. DET 7 YSS 6 Gm 5) Another very good duel. YSS tallied in the btm of the 9th to tie the score at 2, but The Crime scored in the 11th, while Steve Kline made it stick in the bottom half. DET 3 YSS 2 (11 innings) Gm 6) John Patterson tossed 6 scoreless and K'd 9, and despite Hector Carrasco trying to give it away, John Papelbon came in to retire the final batter to preserve the Stalker win. YSS 4 DET 3 Division play continues next week, and both teams are home. DET hosts TIJ, while YSS hosts the CHI juggernaut |

the Yinzers. Game 1: Bedard and the pen hold IC to 5 hits and Crede goes 3 for 4 with a HR as the Hens win 10-1. Game 2: Another strong pitching performance by Matt Cain to gain the victory. Hector Luna goes 3 for 5 in a spot start. Mid 3 IC 1. Game 3: Casey Blake goes 3 for 4 with a triple, HR and 5 RBIs as Midland takes it 6 to 4. Hensley picks up the win and Street the save. Game 4: Chacin gets the win with a solid outing with help from Oliver. Blake gets 2 more hits. Midland wins 5 to 3. Game 5: Harang throws a 3 hit shut out with 10Ks and no walks. Hunter goes deep and the Hens win 3-0. Game 6: Bedard tries to match Harang with a 3 hit shutout of his own. Beltran gets a double and HR to knock in 4 and Midland completes the sweep 5-0. |
