Sugar Land Skeeters @ Long Beach Titans
Game #1: Long Beach scored 3 early runs on a run scoring hit by Maldonado and a 2 run HR by Hill and went on to a 3-0 win. Martinez gave up 5 hits in 7 2/3 innings. When he got in trouble in the 8th Mesa came in and got the last 4 outs for his 13th save.
Game #2: Sugar Land built a 3-1 lead in the 7th behind solo HRs by Biggio, Griffey & Merced. But Long Beach rallied for 4 in the bottom of the 7th with Nilsson driving in the go ahead runs as the Titans won 5-3. Boggs was the offensive spark plug with 4 hits from the leadoff spot.
Game #3: Orlando Merced provided all the offense for the Skeeters with a run scoring 1B in the 1st and a 2 run 2B in the 3rd as Sugar Land went on to a 3-2 win. It got interesting in the 9th when Long Beach scored and had the tying run on 3rd but Hancock got Hill to ground out to short to end the game.
Game #4: This game was all Chris Hammond. He threw 7 shut out innings and hit a 3 run HR in the Long Beach 4-0 win. Samuel added 3 hits and a HR.
Game #5: Long Beach jumped out to a 5-0 lead behind 2 RBI hits from Samuel and Liriano. The Sugar Land offense came alive in the 5th when they cut the lead to 5-3 and knocked out Perez with 1 out and the bases loaded. Henry came in and squashed the threat. In the bottom of the inning Scarsone hit a PH 3 run HR to push the lead to 8-3. Darwin took over and threw 4 shutout innings to preserve the Titans 8-3 win.
Series Summary: Long Beach won 4 of 5 in the series.
Flossmoor Flying Squirrels @ Detroit Stars
Game #1: Greg Maddux throws a NO HITTER 3-0.
Game #2: RAIN OUT.
Game #3: FFS takes this one 5-4.
Game #4: DET squeeks one out 2-1.
Game #5: FFS wins this one 6-5.
Series Summary: FFS wins series with one rain out and a No-Hitter.
Winnipeg Goldeyes @ Santa Rosa Beach Bums
Series Preview: The Winnipeg Goldeyes barrel into Santa Rosa Beach for a five game stint. The Bums have been Jekyll and Hyde so far this season. Miller IV has pulled up some big arms from the farm in hopes not to get steamrolled.
Game #1: Goldeyes send venerable Tom Glavine (7-3, 2.19) to the mound against Albie Lopez (0-0, – ). Goldeyes Lofton single, stole and scored on a McGuire single in the 1st. Goldeyes Buhner leads off the 2nd with a solo shot. Uh oh. In the 3rd Goldeyes Venture reached on a Thomas error and McGwire doubled him to 3rd. Ventura scored on a Buhner sac fly to left, Goldeyes 3-0. The Bums finally get on the board in the 4th with a Sanders triple following a Thomas walk. Brumfield grounded one through the infield to score Sanders and make it a 1-run games. In the 8th Bums Thomas drew a walk. PR Hudler stole and advanced to third on a passed ball. Sanders walked before PH Tarasco grounded to McGwire who went for the two, but failed scoring Sanders. Tie game. In the 10th McGwire goes deep with 2-out, 4-3. Bum PH Hubbard grounds into a DP and the Goldeye streak is eleven.

Santa Rosa Beach 3 8 1 LP: Thomas 2b: Sanders; 3b: Sanders; Sb: Hudler, Tarasco.
Game #2: Goldeyes send Schilling (5-0, 1.33) to face Appier (5-3, 4.25). In the 2nd MacFarlane doubled, advanced to third on a Gagne single and scored on an Alomar bunt single. That was followed by a Caminiti single sending Alomar to third and Gagne home. With 2-out in the 9th Buhner goes deep for one. The Goldeyes will not give.

Santa Rosa Beach 2 11 0 WP: Appier 2b: Nunnally, MacFarlane.
Game #3: Goldeyes send another impressive record to the mound, Abbott (8-1, 2.26) to face the Bums Smoltz (7-0, 3.56). In the 1st Bums Alomar and Thomas doubled for one. In the 3rd Caminiti went deep, 2-0. Bums defense helps Smoltz with 4 DPs.

Game #4: Goldeyes have mortals as Candiotti (4-5, 3.48) travels to the mound to face Bums Vanlandingham (4-4, 5.04) who will make you breathless just saying his name. Bums start fast with an Alomar double and Caminiti RBI single. Sanders singled and the two advanced to 2nd and 3rd on a Candiotti WP. Nunnally singled them home, Bums 3-0. After White singled and a PB, Nunnally scored on a MacFalrlane grounder. And the Bums give Vanlandingham (whew) a nice 1st inning cushion.

Santa Rosa Beach 10 12 0 WP: Vanlandingham; 2b: Alomar, Sanders (2); HR: Sanders, Nunnally; H: Montgomery, James.
Game #5: To salvage the series the Goldeyes send Benes (3-3, 2.93) in against Bums Finley (3-7, 4.81). Goldeyes Roberts doubled, Lopez was intentially walked and then Ventura went deep, 3-0 in the 1st. Ventura must be upset about the intentional walk to get to him as he placed another in the seats in the 4th, 4-0. Bums get one back in the bottom half with singles by Sanders, Nunnally and Tarasco. Benes started the 5th by walking the bases full and Caminiti grounded into a DP but scored a run. But then Thomas finally connected and the game was tied. In the 8th Ventura knocked his 3rd homer of the game, Goldeyes 5-4. But in the bottom half Caminiti lead off with his own to tie the score. Veres cannot continue and Shaw is brought in. In the 11th with 2-out and MacFarlane on second Hudler subbing for Thomas singled into left and Buhner could not gun Macfarlane down.

Santa Rosa Beach 6 7 1 WP: Castillo 2b: Caminiti; HR: Caminiti, Thomas.
Series Summary: Bums get great pitching in the middle three and pull two games out late to take the series 4 games to 1 and slow down the Winnipeg train.
Harper Woods Expos @ California Quakes
Series Summary: California, last in the AL West, hosts Harper Woods, first place in the AL Central. It wasn’t close. Harper Woods takes the series 4-1.
Hampton Huskies @ Blarney Drive Bandits
Series Preview: 5 game set between the Huskies and the Bandits.
Game #1: Doug Drabek vs. Randy Johnson and Johnson dominated. The Big Unit allowed just 1 hit over 6 full, and the bullpen allowed just 1 more hit, for a 2-hit shutout to kick things off. Klesko delivered the big hit, a 3 run jack in the 3rd.

Game #2: Arthur Rhodes vs. David Wells. Both starters allow just 2 runs as this one took extra innings. Tied 2-2 after regulation, Quilvio “The Hidden Power Source” Veras deposits one in the 11th for a walk-off winner. Tettleton led the Huskie attack with a double, homer and 2 RBI.

Game #3: Another nail-biter as the Huskies led 3-2 after 7 full. Juden pitched well over 6 innings, but Delucia struggled in the 8th, eventually costing the game. Seitzer delivered with a big 2 RBI double to steal another W late. Hernandez’s 2-4 2 HR 3 RBI goes to waste for Hampton.

Game #4: Hershiser vs. Weathers, lopsided on paper, and lopsided in results. Orel was solid over 7 innings but Weathers was pummeled. Tettleton though Weathers tasted like chicken as he goes 4-5 w/ 2 HRs 5 RBI. Eisenreich piled on a nice 3-4 3 RBI day.

Game #5: Bobby Jones was good today but Hanson was better. Up 3-2 after 7 innings the Bandit pen struggled today allowing 2 runs over the last 3 innings, fortunately Blarney plated a run in the 8th to secure another 1-run victory.

Montreal Dreamers @ Fort Worth Panthers
Series Summary: Montreal starter Jimmy Haynes had his 2nd consecutive 2 hit CG shutout out dueling Panther starter, Kevin Brown in game two winning 1-0.
Ft. Worth’s offense crushed it in the other 4 games averaging 11 runs and 15.5 hits in their 4 victories.
Castle Rock Hounds @ DeWitt Tigers
Series Summary: DeWitt hosts Castle Rock in a 5 game series. Castle Rock takes the series 3-2 winning games 1,3 & 5. G3 DeWitt led but blew the lead in the 8th & eventually lost in 12.
Manhattan Gas Hornets @ Cincinnati Outlaws
Series Preview: Two sub .500 teams collide in Cincinnati this week.
Game #1: MGH 6-12-2, CIN 10-8-1
Mike Piazza’s three-run homer in the bottom of the fourth provided the winning margin. Jose Vizcaino delivered a grand slam in the first for Cincinnati.
Game #2: MGH 9-15-1, CIN 5-11-0
Manhattan had back-to-back four run Innings in the seventh and eight to put the game away. Tino Martinez delivered a double and a homer for the Gas Hornets.
Game #3: MGH 4-6-0, CIN 5-8-0
Ron Tingley’s two-run homer in the fifth put Cincinnati ahead and John Wehner’s two run single in the sixth put the Outlaws ahead for good.
Game #4: MGH 12-19-0, CIN 5-11-1rady Anderson’s three-run homer in the first put Manhattan ahead with a lead it never relinquished. Martinez had four-hits for the game and drove in five.
Game #5: MGH 5-14-0, CIN 6-13-1 (12 Inn.)
Chipper Jones singled in the bottom of the 12th for a walk-off win for Cincinnati. The Outlaws rallied four times in the game to tie things up and led for the first time on the walk-off. Jose Vizcaino’s single in the eighth forced the extra innings.
Series Summary: Cincinnati wins the series, three games to two and moves into second in the division, while Manhattan drops into third spot in its division.
