Mexico City gets a man to 3rd in the 9th, but Henke shuts it down with Trammell popping up. We’re going to extras! Castle Rock threatens in the 12th, but Bonds grounds into a double play to end it. We’re in the 14th inning now, with the depth of both bullpens getting tested (not what you want to see in the first game of the series). In the bottom of the 14th, Clayton gets to 3rd on a single, stolen base and sacrifice. Lampkin singles him home and the Hounds are victorious, 3-2!

WP: Meacham (1-0)
LP: Gunderson (0-1)

Game #2: The grades go down for Game 2 as Bosio and Wall face off. After that 14-inning game, though, both teams are looking for their starter to go deep today. The Chichuahuas score 2 in the 4th and plate another in the 5th off of a Gwynn single. But, the Hounds tie it up in the bottom of the 5th with a Luis Gonzalez 3-run shot. Mexico City loads the bases with nobody out in the 7th and Gwynn hits a sac fly. Jefferies follows that up with a grounder through Easley’s legs for two more runs. Bonds is the tying run at the plate in the 9th, but he grounds out to end the game, 6-3 for Mexico City.

WP: Bosio (2-1)
LP: Wall (0-3)

WP: Pettitte (4-2)
LP: Givens (1-3)

Game #4: A battle of 3’s in Game 4, between Loaiza and Bautista (at least Loaiza has a future!). Scoreless through 4. Wallach hits a two-run homer in the 5th to get Castle Rock on the board. The Hounds put up two more in the 7th, with Wallach getting a single. Bautista pitches an absolute gem for Castle Rock, getting a CG shutout, moving his record to an inexplicable 5 wins and 2 losses on the season. 4-0, Castle Rock is the final.

WP: Bautista (5-2)
LP: Loaiza (3-8)

Game #5: Bergman vs Rekar in Game 5, as Castle Rock looks to take 4 games in the series. Mexico City gets on the board first, but Castle Rock scores 2 in the 2nd to take the lead. Gwynn keeps getting hits in the series, but the Chihuahuas have trouble bringing him in. Castle Rock picks up another in the 4th to make it 3-1. But, Mexico City ties it up in the 8th with a Gwynn SF. But, Castle Rock picks up a run in the bottom of the inning. Henke comes on to close it out, but the Chihuahuas score to tie it up. We head to extras again. The Chihuahuas twice intentionally walk Bonds and Snow can’t deliver. But, in the bottom of the 12th, Wallach gets a SF. Final is 5-4, Castle Rock:

Game #4: Hampton snatches a 5-4 win when they plate the winning run in the 8th and Assenmacher and Hudek (S – 1) nail it down with 2 shutout innings. Eisenreich gets 2 this, 2 rbis and a homer (2). Boskie hung around for 8 and gets the loss (2-5)
