Manhattan Gas Hornets @ Hampton Huskies
Series Preview:  The Huskies settle in to get gassed by the Hornets with a handful of games to go and players all jockeying for qualifying playing time.
Game #1:  The Gas Hornets smash the be-jeebers out of the Huskies pitching in the late innings homering three times in the final four frames to come away with a 7-3 win. Turner Ward (6), Jody Reed (1 …yay!), and John (Wonder Wall) Vanderwal (2) get the big hits for Manhattan. Andy Ashby goes the distance for Manhattan after allowing three runs (none earned) on seven hits to improve to 4-10.
Game #2:  An extremely rare power outburst for Hampton results in a 7-2 win for the home team. almost as surprisingly the team makes no errors compared to Manhattan’s two. Mike Stanley (7), Mickey Tettleton (9), and Brian McRae (3) homered for Hampton while Scott Leius (7) countered for the Gas Hornets. Leius had three hits on the day to lead all hitters.
Game #3:  Mein gott in himmel …
Hampton homers three times again to take the game 8-3, but it was four errors by the Gas Hornets that helped make it possible.
Back to regular form, the Huskies screwed up three fielding plays in what was quickly becoming a great exhibition by the two teams of how not to field a baseball. Al Martin (7) doubled and homered to drive in three runs for Hampton.
Mike Stanley (8) and Jim Eisenreich (1) also homered for the Huskies. Wil Cordero popped #13 on the year for the Gas Hornets.
Game #4:  Allen Watson junk-balled his way through nine innings, completely baffling the Huskies’ hitters as the Gas Hornets came through with a 1-0 win. Manhattan had all of two hits in the game with Benito Santaigo’s sacrifice fly in the top of the 9th that scored Craig Shipley being the difference. Hampton had a whopping three hits against Watson while walking twice and striking out thrice.
Game #5:  Eric Young was a stellar 4/4 including his 7th homer of the year and drove in four runs to pace Hampton to a 5-3 win over Manhattan. Not much else to say about this one save that Tino Martinez drove in two runs for the Gas Hornets to give him 70 RBIs on the year. Al Martin hit into a couple of double plays which was also noteworthy I suppose.
Series Summary:  Hampton takes 3 of 5 over Manhattan in a fine display with no gold gloves within 1000 miles of us.
Corktown Bootleggers @ Mexico City Chihuahuas
Series Summary:  Mexico City takes the series over Corktown.
Portland Mavericks @ Detroit Stars
Series Summary:  Portland beats up Detroit 4 games to 1.
Missouri Black Bears @ Winnipeg Goldeyes
Series Preview:  Winnipeg is close to the playoffs but the odds are long. The black Bears have a magic number of 5 for the wild card over Winnipeg and Winnipeg behind Long Beach who have a magic number of 9 with ten games to go.
Game #1:  It looked like an easy Black bear win up 2 in the 9th with Whetteland and Eichorn pitching. But Winnipeg gets 3 for the walk off win. Sadly Matt williams hit 3 hoemrs in the loss. WGE 5 MBB 4 W-Beck (5-4) L-Wetteland (5-6)
Game #2:  Bichettes homer wasn’t enough as Winnipeg wins 4-2. Lofton got 3 hits and 2 steals in the win.
Game #3:  Ventura two homers and 5 rbis, a Mark McGuire homer as Winnipeg blows out Missouri 12-1.
Game #4:  Great start by Portugal and Gonzalez 3 hits were enough to stop the bleeding as MBB win 3-1.
Game #5:  Ventura the Winnipeg MVP comes through again with a homer and 5 rbis as Winnipeg wins 12-6.
Series Summary:  A shocking 4-1 Winnipeg win while its likely too late they did leave Missouri with a Magic number of 3 and Long Beach 8. Ventura was player of the week as he came through big. going 10 for 19 with 11 rbis and 3 homers.
Sugar Land Skeeters @ Steel City Sluggers
Series Summary:  In their final home stand, the Sluggers can only win one game.

Valdosta Bombers @ Germantown Grays
Series Summary:  Germantown takes 4 of 5 from Valdosta
Flossmoor Flying Squirrels @ California Quakes
Series Summary:  California takes 4 of 5 from visiting Flossmoor. The series was much closer than the W-L columns suggest.
Blarney Drive Bandits @ Tennessee Crackers
Series Summary:  Blarney Drive loses 4 out of 5 to the home town Crackers.
Chicago Demolition @ Wausau Timbers
Series Summary:  Chicago wins 3 of 5 & looks to be falling short in catching Harper Woods.  Wausau was trying to get to .500, but odds are falling short of them reaching that goal.
