Series Preview:  Blarney Drive has Randy Johnson but not much else as they are in last place. Winnipeg is in a hot streak and has jumped into the race even though they are not likely to keep it up as the pitching has more flaws then usual.
Game #1:  Lofton is great again has he gets 3 hits and 4 rbis and homer. Benes is solid again allowing 2 in 6.1 innings. WIN 7 BDB 2 W-Benes(6-2) S-veres(5) L-Belcher(1-10)
Game #2:  Three more hits by Lofton and Lopez hits a homers and 4 rbis.Eddie Murray hits a 3 run hoemr but it wasn’t enough. WIN 10 BDB 4 W-Roper(1-0) L-Weatehrs(0-4)
Game #3:  Randy Johnson pitches well and gets the win to improve to 3-5.Greenwell and Reed homer for the Big unit as Beck blows it. BDB 5 WIN 5 W-Johnson(3-5) L-Beck(01-2)
Game #4:  Tom Glavine was great for Winnipeg throwing a 4 hitter and Ventura hit a 2 run homer int he Winnipeg win. WGE 4 BDB 0 W-Glavine(6-3) L-Leftwich(1-5)
Game #5:  It looked like Blaney would win up 5-1 int he 8th. But the Blaney pen fell apart as Winning scored 4 in the 8th and a walk off in the 9th, WIN 6 BDB 5 W-Veres(2-0) Bottilico (0-1)
Series Summary:  Winnipeg does get the 4 to 1 series win which will keep them in the hunt for 1st place.
Pitcher of the week Tom Glavine 9 innings 4 hit shutout.
Batter of the week Ventura .455 10 for 22 6 runs 5 rbis and a homer.
Sugar Land Skeeters @ Long Beach Titans
Game #1:  Sugar Land jumped on Martinez early, knocking him out in the 5th and rolled to an 11-0 win. Gibson led the offense with 3 RBI and Henry threw 6 shutout innings to pick up the win.
Game #2:  Long Beach had a 5-1 lead after 6 innings and held on for a 6-4 win. Sugar Land had the tying run on base in the 8th and 9th but the Titans escaped. Baerga had 2 HRs to lead the offense.
Game #3:  The Skeeters offense exploded again in a 9-1 win. Saberhagen gave up just 3 hits in the complete game win. Thome had 2 HR and 3 RBI to key the offense.
Game #4:  Again the Skeeters offense was too much. Long Beach had an early lead but couldn’t hold it as Sugar Land won 5-4. Biggio had 4 hits to key the offense from the top of the order. Baerga had his second 2 HR game of the series.
Game #5:  For the third time in the series Sugar Land scored 9 runs or more as they won 9-5. Every starter had 2 hits except Alou and Gibson had 2 HR and 4 RBI.
Series Summary:  Sugar Land was too much for Long Beach in taking 4 of the 5 games.
Wausau Timbers @ Detroit Stars
Series Summary:  Wausau wins the series 3 games to 2.
Janesville Juggernauts @ Chicago Demolition
Series Preview:  Janesville comes into the Windy City for a 5 game series.
Game #1:  10 Hits and 9 Runs are what the Juggernauts put up in beating up the Demolition.

Final Score: Janesville 9 – Chicago 5

Win: Cal Eldred 3-3 (3.07)
Loss: Todd Stottlemyre 3-5 (5.21)

Game #2:  4 Hits for Jeff Branson, along with 3 RBI’s from Jack Voigt & Tom Pagnozzi put a hurting on the Chicago squad once again.

Final Score: Janesville 11 – Chicago 5

Win: Denny Neagle 3-5 (6.51)
Loss: Rene Arocha 1-5 (6.81)

Game #3:  Pedro Martinez takes exception when Tom Pagnozzi points toward the Outfield fence indicating he’s taking Pedro deep. Martinez then plunks Pagnozzi in the ribs with a 99 MPH Fastball. Starting a bench brawl. The only play ejected is Pedro Martinez, but Pagnozzi ends up with 4 days out of commission.

Final Score: Chicago 7 – Janesville 2

Win: Pedro Martinez 2-3 (3.62)
Loss: Kevin Tapani 0-8 (5.35)

Game #4:  Tony Fernandez is 3 for 4 with a Home Run & 3 RBI’s as Janesville get back to beating up the Demolition. This one takes an extra frame as the Juggernauts win it in 10.

Game #5:  Not sure why or how but Rene Arocha starts on 2 days rest and gets lit up. Danny Tartabull has 2 Hits, both Home Runs & 4 RBI’s for the Juggernauts.

Win: David Nied 5-3 (4.18)
Loss: Rene Arocha 1-6 (6.86)

Series Summary:  Chicago looks forward to the future as in the present they suck.

Series Summary:  Forth Worth wins the series 4 games to 1.
Flossmoor Flying Squirrels @ Portland Mavericks
Series Preview:  The first place team in the AL East… and just one game back of California for the best record in the league, head to Portland to play the Mavs.
Game #1:  A nice game by Berroa spurts the Squirrels to the 2-1 win. Key is now 6-1 with a 3.13 ERA for Flossmoor.

FLO 2 POR 1

Game #2:  A ton of runs in this with… with both teams sharing almost 30 hits. But Flossmoor’s hits tend to be of the extra base variety, with five doubles, one triple, and four homeruns including a grand slam by Jeff Bagwell. In the end, Flossmoor almost doubles Portland’s score. Maddux improves to 6-1 with a 1.60 ERA.

Game #3:  Portland gets a close with on a Sandy Alomar two-run HR in the 9th. Alomar also had a triple and 4 RBI in the game.

Game #4:  Another close one, and another Portland win.

Game #5:  This time it is the Squirrels winning a close one with two big runs in the 9th inning.

Series Summary:  Flossmoor takes 3 of 5, and Portland is happy to escape with two wins after losing the first two.
Hampton Huskies @ Valdosta Bombers
Series Preview:  Hampton visits last place Valdosta.
Series Summary:  A pretty ho-hum series in which the Bombers win 3 of 5. The teams scored 18 runs each in the series.
Harper Woods Expos @ California Quakes
Series Preview:  California’s offense just got a whole lot better after acquiring Kevin Mitchell just before AL Central Division leading Harper Woods rolled into town. Let’s see if the upgrade paid off …
Series Summary:  Yep. California sweeps Harper Woods in the 5-game set. The series could have been a lot closer had it not been for late-inning heroics by the Quakes. A 3-run 9th inning in Game 1, a 2-run 9th inning in Game 2, and a 4-run 8th inning in Game 3 gave the Caps the upper hand in this one.
Tennessee Crackers @ Steel City Sluggers
Series Summary:  Sluggers drop 3 of 5 to the Crackers.
Missouri Black Bears @ Manhattan Gas Hornets
Series Preview:  Former division rivals Missouri and Manhattan meet up in a season that is a total rebuild for the Gas Hornets – and yet, they have a lot of offensive punch, and Missouri is sporting a pretty non-robust rotation this week ….
Game #1:  Wil Cordero gets 3 hits and 2 rbis Scott Leius homers (3) and drives in 2 and the Gas Hornets take game 1 7-3. Haney (1-1) the win in relief, Jim Converse (0-2) the loss. Williams (16) homers for the Black Bears.
Game #2:  Tino Martinez homers (3) and drives in 5 runs. John VanderWal (1) and Craig Shipley (1) get their first homers of the season and Andy Ashby pitches a 3 hitter for 7 innings. Matt Williams (17) connected in the 2nd for 2 runs (and a 2-0 Missouri lead at the time). But then things went all Manhattans way as they pounded out 14 hits and scored 12 times. 3 4-run innings!

Game #3:  Again it’s the Gas Hornets on top at the end but it took a 9th inning 2 out, 2 run walk-off homer by Wil Cordero off John Wetteland to give them the 9-8 victory. For Cordero it was his 2nd of the game (7, 8). Also hitting 2 homers was Barry Bonds (10-11) for Missouri – 3 hits, 3 rbis game! Dante Bichette (4) also homers as the Black Bears build a 8-2 lead going into the bottom of the 6th. But Manhattan explodes for 5 to make it 8-7 Missouri and then the 9th inning homer makes it 9-8 Manhattan! WP Bob Patterson (2-1), LP John Wetteland (1-4) BS (2)
Game #4:  Black Bears finally get things their way as they do the comeback thing scoring 3 times in the 5 and 7th to win 6-5. Vince Coleman gets 2 hits and 3 rbis and Carlos Hernandez gets 3 on a big double (and 3 hits during the game). Missouri wins 6-5. WP Mike Periez (1-1) Save Henke (1). LP Allen Watson (2-7).
Game #5:  Matt William hits #18 and gets 3 rbis to pace a 12 hit, 8 run attack which gave the Black Bears an 8-3 victory in the series finale. WP Joe Magrane (1-0), LP Terry Mulolland (2-6). Final score 8-3 Missouri.
Series Summary:  Gas Hornets win a series, they actually win a series 3-2. Amd tjeu are all set for next week.
Germantown Grays @ Michigan Mauraders
Series Preview:  A strong hitting Germantown team comes to Michigan for five.
Game #1:  Michigan 7 Germantown 4

Chris Hoiles hits a 3 run homer and a 2 run homer for the Mauraders. Jim Edmonds has 3 hits. Charles Nagy gets the win and goes to 7-1. Albie Lopez loses his first game of the year. Shane Mack with 3 hits for the Grays.

Game #2:  Germantown 6 Michigan 1

The Grays dominate the game with 14 hits to Michigan’s 4. Vanlandingham earns the win and he is now 4-0. Frank Thomas hits his 8th homer.

Game #3:  Germantown 2 Michigan 1

Good close game. Finley goes 8 innings and wins his 5th. Fetters earns his 4th save. Shane Mack hits a big 2 run homer. Brunansky with a homer for Michigan.

Game #4:  Germantown 4 Michigan 2

Appier goes 7 innings and gives up 2 to earn his 2nd win. Reggie Sanders goes yard. Bernie Williams with a homer for the Mauraders.

Game #5:  Germantown 6 Michigan 5 (10)

Heartbreak game for Michigan. They have a 3 run lead based on an excellent Sanderson start. Bob Wickman gives up a hit and a walk. Then, he gives up a 3 run tater to Ken Caminiti to tie the game. In the 10th, Germantown takes the lead on a Thomas homer off of Boever. The Mauraders pen fails the team.

Series Summary:  Michigan fans are dejected as they lose 4 of 5 to Germantown. Game 5 was a tough pill to swallow as the pen blows up.
