Series Preview:  Manhattan Gas Hornets are in are rebuilding year, Winnipeg is a tweener team who is playing just around .500 ball not a playoff challenger and not likely going to get a team changing player. But as always its about the stats for Winnipeg and we are looking to stay above .500 and maybe sneak a wildcard .
Game #1:  The bats had fun in this one. Gas Hornets got 9 runs as Cordero doubled and homered and drove 3 rbi. But Buhner hits a grand slam and drives in 5 as Winnipeg scores two int he 9th to get the walk off win. WPG 10 MGH 9 W-Reed(1-0) L-Hitchcock(0-2)
Game #2:  Winnipeg shocks the Gas hornets with 6 in the 9th and one int he 10th to win 7-6.W-Veres(1-0) L-Gibson(0-1)
Game #3:  Lopez hits a 3 run homer and Lofton gets 3 doubles as Winnipeg wins 10-5. W-Boskie(3-3) L-Anderson(4-3)
Game #4:  Ward scores 4 runs and cole drives in 4 as Gas Hornets win 10-9. W-Watson(2-6) L-Glavine(5-3) S-Hitchcock(4)
Game #5:  Winnipeg scores early and holds on to win 7-3. Buhner homers and Schilling wins 4-3

Series Preview:  Chicago takes on a very close rival from Corktown in a 5 game series.
Game #1:  Jeffery Hammonds is 2 for 4 with a Home Run & 3 RBI’s, but Slim Hittin Mark Whiten steals the show by going 3 for 4 with 2 Home Runs.

Game #4:  Ramon Martinez showed up and went the distance for the Bootleggers. Ellis Burks & Ray Lankford combined to score 5 Runs out of the 1 & 2 spots in the line up for Corktown.

Series Summary:  Chicago squeaks out the series 3 games to 2. Both teams could be power houses down the road starting in 1996 & beyond.
Harper Woods Expos @ Portland Mavericks
Series Preview:  The AL Central leaders, the Harper Woods Expos head to Portland to face the Mavericks. The Mavs at tied for second in the AL West, but only one game separates the two teams currently.
Game #1:  Two run HR by Walker starts things off right for the Expos, and Chili Davis goes back to back for the 3-0 lead. Darrin Jackson of the Mavs ties answers back with a 3-run blast. 3-3 After a SF Mavs lead 4-3 after 4.
Anthony gives the Expos the lead back with another two-run HR. In extra innings, the Expos break it open with three big runs, and Portland can’t answer back as the Expos get the win in the fun one.

Game #2:  Gary Carter gets a double in the bottom on the 9th inning as Portland steals the 2-1 win off Mussina and the Exports.

Series Preview:  Hampton doing well this season comes to Michigan for 5.

Michigan gets 3 runs in the 7th to come back against the Huskies. Nagy outpitches McDowell and goes to 6-1. Spike Owen with 3 hits and 2 RBIs.

Reynoso pitches 8 scoreless innings for the win. Wickman records the save. Ripken with 3 hits and the games only RBI.

Bankhead earns the win with 2 scoreless relief innings. Eisenreich is the star with 2 hits and 2 RBIs.

Bere goes to 3-3 with 6 solid innings. The pen does the rest. Al Martin hits 2 homers and Mickey Tettleton hits his 4th homer.

Michigan survives the extra inning game as Spike Owen gets the game winning hit. Brady Anderson with 3 hits.
Series Summary:  Michigan narrowly wins the series 3 games to 2.
Fort Worth Panthers @ California Quakes
Series Summary:  California wins 4 of 5 against visiting Fort Worth. The series was book-ended by two 1-run walk-off wins for California, and could have easily gone the other way.
Missouri Black Bears @ Valdosta Bombers
Series Preview:  Missouri visits hot and steamy Valdosta.
Game #1:  Missouri 3-2. John Franco’s problems continue as he gave up 2 9th inning runs to take the loss (0-3).
Game #2:  Missouri 6-2. Mike Portugal (6-2) wins it and John Wetteland saves his 5th.
Game #3:  Missouri 4-3 (10 Innings). John Franco strikes again as he falls to 0-4 after allowing a 10th inning run.
Game #4:  Missouri 3-0. Willie F’ing Banks (3-4) shut out the Bombers for 7 2/3 innings. Wetteland with the save.
Game #5:  Missouri 5-3. Matt Williams hit a grand slam off of Robb Nenn and the Black Bears hang on for the win. Wetteland with his 7th save.
Series Summary:  Missouri sweeps and they find themselves in playoff contention in the NL Central.
Sugar Land Skeeters @ Germantown Grays
Series Preview:  Germantown welcomes league leading Sugar Land Skeeters for a 5 game set.
Game #1:  Sugar Land send an ace, Butch Henry (3-2) to the mound to face workhorse Chuck Finley (3-3). The Skeeters start fast as lead man Biggio singled, Alou doubled, and Zambrano had an RBI single. But the Grays come right back in the bottom half. Alomar singled to lead off. Brumfield place a perfect hit and run grounder through the hole followed by a Thomas 3-run shot, Grays 3-1. Grays fill the bases again in the 2nd and Thomas stroked a 2-out 2-run single, After the Grays add an insurance run, Griffey banged a 2-out 3-run homer to put the Skeeters back in it, 6-4 in the 5th. Griffey adds a solo shot in the 7th, 6-5. Grays Scheid and Campbell hold the Skeeters at bay in the 9th.

Game #2:  Sugar Land responds with Marvin Freeman (4-1) to face Grays Rich Scheid (1-0). Skeeters start fast again. Biggio lead off walk followed by a Griffey homer. Skeeters add another in the 1st on a Bell sac fly, 3-0. Griffey added an RBI single in the 2nd, he’s a wrecking machine. Grays add one in the 2nd and 3rd to get back in the game, Skeeters 4-2. Scheid helps his cause in the 4th banging in MacFarlane from second with 2-out, followed by an Alomar double to tie the game. Scheid circled the bases, not sure how that will affect him in the 5th. In the 5th Griffey singled, Zambrano doubled, and Bell lifted a sac fly, Skeeters 5-4. Skeeter fill the bases in the 8th, 1-out, infield in, PH Gibson lines a single to right, 6-4.

Game #3:  Sugar Land finds another ace, Steve Ontiveros (2-1) to face John Smolts (2-2), This time the Grays strike first. Huff leadoff with a single, worked his way around to third before Thomas banged him home in the 1st. Sanders leadoff the 2nd with a homer, 2-0. Skeeters Daulton ties it up with a 2-run shot and Gibson matched that in the 3rd , Skeeters 4-2, Then Bell matched that in the 4th as did Gibson again!, 8-2.

Germantown 7 15 2 LP Smoltz; 2b Huff, Thomas, Caminiti, Sanders. HR Sanders 2, Caminiti.

Game #4:  Sugar Land calls on Wilson Alvarez (5-2) against Kevin Appier (1-2). Bats take a rest after game 3 and goose eggs fill the board until the 6th when the Grays fill the bases and with 1-out Alomar tests Griffey’s arm in left, but it is cut to take the out at third, 1-0. Skeeters come right back in their next at bat. Bell singled, Parent doubled, and Alvarez singled in a run. Biggio followed that with an RBI double, but Alvarez is thrown out trying to make it 3-1, Skeeters 2-1. Grays counter in the bottom half as Sanders lead off with a single, stole, and came home on a Pena single. Tie game. In the 8th Thomas drew a walk and advanced to third on a Thome throwing error. Caminiti followed with a double and now runners are on second and third with 0-out. Sanders walked to fill them up. Skeeters Nelson Ks MacFarlance and gets Gagne to pop to the catcher. PH Huff then cleared the bases with a double to center, Grays 6-2.

Game #5:  For the rubber match Sugar Land sends Saberhagen (5-1) to face Jim Bullinger (3-0). In the 1st who else but Griffey shoots a 2-run homer over the right field wall. In the bottom half homas drew a 2-out walk and Bell drops a pop. Thomas was hustling and scored from first. Skeeters 2-1. Yet another Skeeter pitcher bangs an RBI hit as Saberhagen floats a double, 3-1 in the 2nd. Skeeters make another error in the 2nd that costs a run, 3-2. Yet another Skeeter error in the 3rd provides a run, 3-3 tie game. Maybe West Nile virus is going around amongst the Skeeters. That was followed by a MacFarlane 3-run shot. Grays can score without help from the Skeeters. As the Grays manager is thinking possibly a series win against the formidable Skeeter team they rip off five straight 2-out RBI hits in the 5th to take the lead 7-6. Grays tie it up again after Sanders stole second and MacFarlane ripped a single through the infield. Tie game. Neither team is giving in. In the 6th Grays Mack pcks on a fatigued Skeeter bullpen doubling in Alomar with 2-out, 7-6. After a walk to Thomas, Caminiti hits a 3-run blast, 11-7. Buckle up this one doesn’t seem to be over. Hamelin and Thome make it second and third in the 7th, but Grays Castillo holds the flood gates. Websters PH 2-run shot seems to wrap it up for the Grays in the 7th, 13-7. Sugar Land committed 5 errors for 5 unearned runs!

Series Summary:  In a wild one the Grays manage a 3-2 series win. Best pitching effort went to Grays Appier (6.1IP 2R 4H 4W 7K). Skeeters Griffey (9-21 5R 9RBI 4HR W) earned the hitting honors.
