Series Summary:  Pittsburgh takes the first, then drops the final four to Long Beach.
Missouri Black Bears @ Sugar Land Skeeters
Series Preview:  Division rivals square off.
Game #1:  Sugar Land gets off to a 10-4 lead as Griffey starts 2-HR (15), 6-RBI game. Langston comes in to supposedly mop up, but Piazza cranks a 3-run HR (5) to cap a 5-run 8th, HIS second of the game, to make it 10-9. Sugar Land answers with 2 in the bottom of the frame and Hudek nails it down for his 6th save. 12-9 SLS. Freeman (3-1, 6.19!) gets the win.
Game #2:  Piazza (6) and Griffey (16 already) each homer again in a back-and-forth game. Missouri wins in the 11th, 4-3. Henke gets the win in relief and Wetteland his 4th save.
Game #3:  Sugar Land gets two hits and 3 RBI from Jay Bell to lead a 12-hit attack as SLS wins, 8-1.
Game #4:  Missouri comes back with another win yet again, getting homers from Garcia (2), Bichette (2), and Williams (11) and win 7-5. Milacki (4-0,2.81) scatters 7 hits over 6 IP for the win and Eichhorn gets his 9th save. Henry (3-1,3.67) takes the loss but it was mainly Deleon who got hammered. Thome HR (6) in the loss. Biggio has two doubles and two RBI.
Game #5:  Piazza has another two-HR game (8) with three RBI but no one else contributes for Missouri. Alvarez (4-2,4.94) minimizes the damage. Bell has three hits and six different Skeeters get RBI and six score as SLS wins, 6-3. Hamelin (5) and Bell (3) homer and Hudek gets his 7th save.
Series Summary:  Sugar Land squeaks out a 3-2 series win.

Series Summary:  No News out of Detroit.  Disappointing.
Portland Mavericks @ California Quakes
Series Summary:  Portland out-scores the home team 32-27, but drop 4 of 5 games. California wins the close games, 4-3, 8-6, 7-6 and 8-7, and Portland blows out California 10-0 in Game 5.

Series Preview:  3rd place NL Central Division Michigan takes on 4th place NL Eastern Division Manhattan.
Game #1:  Michigan 3 Manhattan 1
Nagy gives up 1 hit, 1 run and goes the distance. He is now 4-1. Brady Anderson hits his 2nd homer of the year. Manhattan commits 3 errors.
Game #2:  Michigan 6 Manhattan 1
Bret Boone has 2 hits and 2 RBIs to lead the way. Ripken adds 2 hits and a RBI. Reynoso with his 1st win of the year. Dave Martinez with a homer for Manhattan.
Game #3:  Manhattan 5 Michigan 3
Brian Anderson goes to 3-2 and gets the win. Pichardo earns his 1st save. Turner Ward with 4 hits. Bret Boone hits a homer for Michigan.
Game #4:  Michigan 2 Manhattan 1
Bill Wegman throws a solid 7 innings for Michigan. He earns his 4th win of the year. Boever throws a 2 inning save. Benito Santiago with 3 hits for Manhattan.
Game #5:  Manhattan 9 Michigan 8
Pichardo gets the win in relief. Davis earns the save. Boever blows the win for Michigan as he gives up 2 runs. Alicea and Martinez hit homers for the Gas Hornets. Brunansky and Eduardo Perez hit homers for Michigan.
Series Summary:  Michigan wins 3 of 5 from Manhattan.
Blarney Drive Bandits @ Germantown Grays
Series Preview:  Blarney Drive on a 3-7 run of late come to Germantown for a 5 game set.
Game #1:  Belcher (1-5) will face DeJesus (1-0). Grays Alomar leads the game off with a triple, but is thrown out at home on a Mack grounder, Mack to second. Mack scores on a Caminiti single to open the scoring. Grays add 3 more in the 1st. With the score 4-1 in the 7th Bandits Murray lead off with a homer, Bordick walked, PH Bournigal singled him to third, and Henderson grounded one to second to score Bordick, 4-3. Grays quickly made it 5-3 with back-to-back doubles by Alomar and Mack to lead off the bottom half. Sanders and MacFarlane add a couple more with an RBI singles, 6-3.

Game #2:  Bandits Johnson (2-3) v Grays Appier (0-1). In the 2nd Bandits Murray drew a walk, Bournigal batted him to third and he scored on a WP. In the bottom half Mack singled and Brumfield doubled to lead off. Mack scored on a Bournigal error. Pena then batted Brumfield home and Abbott Caminiti. Appier looped a sacrifice fly to score Pena and Alomar sacrificed Abbott home. Grays 5-1.

Germantown 15 17 0 WP Appier; 1-1; H Aguilera; 2b Alomar, Brumfield, Caminiti, Abbott.
Game #3:  Belcher (1-6) again against Finley (2-2). Grays start fast again. In the 1st Huff singled, Alomar doubled and Huff scored on a Thomas grounder to second. Alomar later scored on a Caminiti grounder. Alomar strikes again with a 3-run homer in the 2nd.

Game #4:  Wells (2-2) v. Smoltz (2-1). Bandits start the 2nd with singles by Fletcher, Murray, and Reed to start. Fletcher scored on a Wells sacrifice fly. In the 4th Murray reached on an error, stole, went to third on a Bordick single, and scored on a grounder. Henderson then singled home Bordick, followed by a Klesko 2-run double, 5-0. The gleam of a sweep fades.

Game #5:  Leftwich (1-2) v Scheid (0-0). Grays start fast in the 1st. Huff leadoff with a double and Mack homered. In the 3rd; Bandits Leftwich reached via error, Henderson singled and Klesko banged an RBI single. Grays ditto the 1st in the 6th, 4-1. What!?, Bandits Johnson in to relief 4-1 behind in the 7th. Bandits do put one on the board in the 8th and go down with two in scoring position in the 9th.

Germantown 4 4 0 WP Scheid; (1-0); H Castillo, Assenmacher, Fetters; S Campbell; HR Mack 2.
Series Summary:  Series of blow outs except for the last game, hitters must have been worn out. Grays take the series 4 games to one. Pitching honors to Bandits Wells (7IP; 2R; 8H; 0W; 7K). Though Bandits Murray (12-20 8R 2-2b, 3b, HR RBI W) was excellent, hitting honors go to Grays Mack (7-13, 7R, 2b, 2HR, 7RBI W).
Harper Woods Expos @ Janesville Juggernauts
Series Summary:  Harper Woods takes it 4-1.
Valdosta Bombers @ Winnipeg Goldeyes
Series Preview:  Valdosta visits Winnipeg. Neither team is a contender although Winnipeg likely has a better chance to be .500
Game #1:  Winnipeg ace Benes was great 12 strikeouts 1 walk 4 hits 90 game score.Lofton gets 3 hits and Winning wins 4-0, poor Pat Hentgen still can’t get a win. W-Benes(5-1) L-Hentgen(0-6)
Game #2:  Carr drives in 2 as Valdosta hits Candiotti hard. Voldosta 6 Winnipeg 3 W-Smith (2-3) S-Franco(6) L-Candiotti(2-3)
Game #3:  Beck blows his 2 run save allowing 2 in the 9th but Winnipeg won it in the 10th 9-8. Sierra and Winfield hit pinch hit homers for Valdosta by it wasn’t enough as Roberts homered and drove in 4. Win 9 Vald 8 (10) W-Beck(1-1) L-Nen(0-1)
Game #4:  Neel and Thompson hoemr and beck saves the day coming into the 9th with bases loaded. Win 6 Val 4 W-Glavine (4-2) L-Reynolds(1-6) S-Beck(4)
Game #5:  Cooper homered for Valdosta and Neel did so for Winnipeg. Shaw was asked to close the game and did as Winnipeg wins 8-6. W-Schilling(2-3) S-Shaw(1) L-Gubicza(2-2)
Series Summary:  Winnipeg gets the key hits and wins 4 of the 5 games to crawl over .500.
Pitcher of the week Benes 90 game score 9 innings 4 hits 1 walk 12 strikeouts!
Hitter of the week Neel: 5 for 9 2 doubles and 2 homers driving in 7 runs.
Tennessee Crackers @ Hampton Huskies
Series Summary:  Hampton wins three of five.
Corktown Bootleggers @ Flossmoor Flying Squirrels
Game #1:  Maddux gets backed up by some solid offense and the Flying Squirrels win 8-4.
Game #2:  Tight game as Corktown scores two in the 6th to tie it at three and we go to extras. In the bottom of the 10th its Harold Baines with the walk off homer to give Flossmoor the win 4-3.
Game #3:  Steve Trachsel goes the distance and Keith Lockhart delivers a three run homer as the Bootleggers win 5-1.
Game #4:  Bootleggers get a four run fourth and that is enough to hold off the home side as Corktown wins it 4-3.
Game #5:  Its a tight 2-0 game to the bottom of the 8th when Flossmoor blows it open with a seven spot to win easily 9-0. Grimsley with another solid outing for the Squirrels.
Series Summary:  Flossmoor grabs the series win 3-2 thanks to the rubber match. It was a tight series most of the way between the top two teams in the AL East.
Fort Worth Panthers @ Wausau Timbers
Series Summary:  Timbers take the series 3 games to 2.
