Stockton Wings @ Flossmoor Flying Squirrels
Game #1:  Maddux has to leave the game in the 2nd inning making things tough on the Flossmoor bullpen. But the Squirrels hitters back them up with four runs and the pen gets the job done for a 4-3 Flossmoor win.
Game #2:  This one is all Squirrels as they jump on Drabek early. Kirby Pucket delivers the big blow with a grand slam in the fourth. Rijo goes the distance to give the Flossmoor pen a much needed rest. 11-2 Flossmoor wins.
Game #3:  Stockton gets a pair off Jimmy Key in the first, but the Squirrels answer with eight straight runs. Key settles down and keeps the Wings off the board through the next six and Flossmoor takes it 9-3.
More bad news for Stockton as Larry Walker and Robby Thompson collide in the outfield costing Walker 5 games and Thompson 15.
Game #4:   Cone vs Rueter in a solid pitching match up but in the end the Flossmoor offense is just too much. Cone goes 7 innings allowing just two solo shots, Charlton and Olson take care of the rest for a 5-2 Flossmoor win.
Game #5:  This was a wild one as Stockton jumps out to a 5-0 lead. But things get weird in the 6th as a ton of walks help the Squirrels and Jeff Bagwell makes it 6-5 with a pinch hit grand slam.
But the Flossmoor middle relief cant get it done and gives up a pair in the next inning and another in the 8th. Stockton salvages one with an 8-6 win.
Series Summary:  The win for the Wings in the finale snaps the Flying Squirrels nine game winning streak. But they will take four of five any day of the week. Forty games in and the Squirrels have won 30 of them so far.
Sugar Land Skeeters @ Blarney Drive Bandits
Series Preview:  Division leading Skeeters swarm into Irish Village to take on the Bandits.
Game #1:  Sugar Land racks up 6 extra base hits. This would become a common theme in the series as the Skeeters pretty much played racquet ball off the outfield wall.

SLS 7 BDB 4

W – Jackson (3)
L – Black (2)
S – Poole (7)

Game #2:  Bandits jump out quick with 4 in the 1st to spot Johnson a big lead. Skeeters nibbled away and nearly pulled it out. Sugar Land collected 4 extras.

SLS 4 BDB 5

W – Johnson (7)
L – Tapani (2)
S – DiPoto (2)

Game #3:  Skeeters hang TWO 4-spots as David Wells was rocked. Wilson Alvarez was dealt his own sport in the 4th as well and could only manage 4 innings. Sugar Land POUND out 8 extra base hits today and hang on to the W.

SLS 11 BDB 9

W – Merker (2)
L – Wells (4)
S – Langston (1)

Game #4:  After an off day the Skeeters continue to rake, sprinkling 6 extras into their 14 hit performance. Jay Bell and Griffey each with 4 RBI. Bautista allows 5 XB in his 4.2 innings of manning the mortar launcher.

SLS 14 BDB 4

W – Greene (6)
L – Bautista (3)
S – None

Game #5:  Bandit hurlers, tired of the abuse, send a message to Devon White via Fastball Express. Devon will miss 1 game and Langston’s retaliation effort drills Phil Clark into DL land for 10 days. Clean game after the 1st inning as Langston suffocated the Blarney Drive bats with a 3 hit CG effort. ONLY 3 extras today for Sugar Land.

W – Langston (7)
L – Hanson (1)
S – None

Series Summary:  Judges score the 5 round xb fight 27-12 for Sugar Land as they take 4 of 5. Local chiropractor Ima Stretcher has been retained to work on the multiple Bandit pitcher whiplash injuries due to Sugar Lands now infamous wall rockets.
Valdosta Bombers @ Manhattan Gas Hornets
Series Preview:  Valdosta makes the trip to Manhattan as the NL East also rans provide an entertaining (if somewhat futile) series. Two 13 inning games bookend the series.
Game #1:  Gas Hornets take 1-0 lead into the 7th – Bentito Santiago solo homer (3) the run. Sterling Hitchcock pitches brilliantly trying to counter Pat Hengen, but gives up an rbi doulbe to Chris Gomez in the 7th to tie the game. Then the bullpens keep it scoreless until Scott Servais drives in the winner in the 13th.

VAL 2-11-2 LP Mike Moore (2-5)
MGH 7-11-1 WP Pete Smith (1-2)
BAD NEWS – Dave Stewart leaves the game in the 3rd and will be shelved for 17 days (and a trip to the DL – third major starter to bite the dust).
Game #3:  Eric Karros hits a 3 run homer (5) in the 1st, a solo homer (6) in the 3rd for 4 rbis in the game. He drives in all the Bombers runs. But Benito Santiago matches the 2 homer outburst (4, 5), and matches his 4 rbis, but gets help from a Luis Alicea ph rbi singles in the 7th to take the Gas Hornets to victory.
VAL 4-10-1 LP Jamie Moyer (2-3)
MGH 5- 8-0 WP Andy Ashby (2-4) S Greg Harris (3)

MGH 8-11-0 WP Darling (2-3)
Game #5:  3 Gas Hornet homers (Magadan [2], Maas [2], and Shipley [2] – all their 2nd homers!) fuel an 8-2 win. Scott Servais and Tim Wallach get 2 hits each for Valdosta but Charlie Hough gives up 5 walks and 9 hits in 6 innings. Allen Watson gives up 10 hits, but only 2 runs for the win.
VAL 2-11-0 LP Hough (1-6)
MGH 8-13-1 WP Watson (1-1)
Game #6:  Gas Hornets would have won this game 2-1 if it were not for a Felix Fermin error in the 1st. His error allowed 6 (yes 6!) unearned runs in a 6 run Bombers 1st inning. Tim Wallach took advantage and crushed a grand slam (2) during the free scoring period. Sterling Hitchcock pitched well, 5 hits, 10 Ks, 1 earned run in 8 innings, but …. Pat Hentgen pitched another strong game – 8 innings, 3 hits, 1 run (did have 5 walks).
VAL 7-7-0 WP Hentgen (2-3)
MGH 2-4-1 LP Hitchcock (0-1)
Game #7:  OK, this one goes 13. It was 6-0 Valdosta in the 4th which included a 2 run Scott Servais homer. But Bentito Santiago (who went nuts this week) hits a 3 run homer (6) in the 4th. Manhattan then takes the lead in the 7th with 4 runs. But .. Bombers tie it in the 8th when Greg Harris blows the save. Moving to the 12th, former Gas Hornet Kevin McReynolds cracks a 2 run homer (1) to make it 9-7 Valdosta. But Chad Kreuter hits a PH homer (4) in the bottom half and then a error allows Manhattan to tie the game. But the game finally ends in the 13th (again) when again the Bombers score the winning run.
VAL 10-21-2 WP Jeff Brantley (3-6) BS (1)
MGH 9-12-3 LP Bob MacDonald (1-1)
