Game #1:  Game one is a close one, with the Juggernauts taking it 3-2 behind a quality start from Cormier, who wins his 3rd of the season. Two errors by the Quakes leads to a Janesville unearned run which is the difference in the game.
Game #2:  Tartabull hits his second homer in as many games as Janesville wins another nail biter, 4-3.
Game #3:  This one is over in the first inning, as Armstrong gets roughed up for 9 runs, and the Quakes win walking away 18-2.
Game #4:  California scores 5 runs in the first three innings and cruise to a 6-2 win, evening the series up at two apiece.
Game #5:  Janesville can’t get their bats moving, and the Quakes roll to the series win 4-2, despite a quality start by Leibrandt of the Juggernauts.
Series Summary:  The Quakes roll to a 3-2 series win. Next up for California is a home series against division rival Fort Worth, while the Juggernauts cruise on down I-90 for a road trip against Chicago.
Blarney Drive Bandits @ Manhattan Gas Hornets
Series Preview:  Weak Manhattan hosts good Blarney Drive, looks like the Bandits should easily steal this one.
Game #1:  Really good game until the 9th and then long time Gas Hornets nemesis, Eddie Murray, unloads for a solo homer (7) to break a 3-3 tie. Two batters later, Danny Bautista does the same thing (1) and that was the game.
BDB 5-12-1 WP Jerry DiPoto (1-0), S Randy Myers (5)
MGH 3- 4-1 LP Pete Smith (0-2)
Game #2:  Chris Haney goes 8 innings and gives up 4 hits, 1 run (another Eddie Murray homer [8] – to go along with his double) and that was enough for the Gas Hornets to pull this one out 5-2.
BDB 2-5-4 LP David Wells (1-3)
MGH 5-7-0 WP Haney
Game #3:  6 run second innings paves the way for a Bandits rebound win. Chip Hale (2) and Darryl Hamilton (1) crack homers and Pete Incaviglia drives in 2. Randy Johnson gives up 1 hit, walks 2 and fans 8 in 7 innings for the win.
BDB 8-9-1 WP Johnson (6-2)
MGH 3-3-1 LP Dave Stewart (3-1)
Game #4:  Eddie Murray goes 3 for 4, drives in and scores 1 (double), Pete Incaviglia hits a 3 run homer (4) in a 4 run 5th. Darrin Fletcher (2) hits a solo shot in the 8th and the Bandits steal this one big time 6-1. Erik Hanson goes 8, gives up 4 hits and a run for the win.
BDB 6-11-0 WP Hanson
MGH 1- 5-1 LP Andy Ashby (1-4)
Game #5:  Blarney Drive came to town with a 4 man rotation. Bud Black was slated to make his 2nd start of the series, but he was (and the rest of the starters) were fatigued/gased/just not ready. So Derek Lilliquist was tapped to start this one (a rare event for him this year). So, the Gas Hornets get single runs in each of the first 3 innings which included a Kevin Maas solo homer (1). Then in the 5th with runners on 2nd and 3rd and no out, Ron Darling comes through with 2 outs. BUT Darryl Hamilton steps up and he punches one to the left side, Fermin dives, knocks it down but can’t get off a throw, 1 run in. Mike Greenwell lines one to center driving in a 2nd run. Pete Incaviglia follows with another base hit and Hamilton scores – tie game.
Top of the 6th and Eddie Murray launches his 3rd homer of the series (9) to put the Bandits up 4-3 and they never give up the lead. Scoring another in the 9th they put it away as Randy Myers saves another one. Jerry DiPoto gets his 2nd win of the series in relief.
BDB 5-11-2 WP DiPoto (2-0) Save Myers (6)
MGH 4- 6-1 LP Greg Harris (1-2)
Series Summary:  Blarney indeed easily steals this series – but they didn’t even have to do it acting like Bandits. Eddie Murray has big week with 3 homers and the Gas Hornets fans really don’t like him in spite of his famous grin.   NEXT WEEK: Blarney Drive heads home to host Sugar Land. Manhattan stays home to host Valdosta.
