In the 7th, Fort Worth finally got to Astacio with RBI hits from McGriff and Winfield. Smith and Austin slammed the door after that. Fort Worth suffered an early blow as Tim Hulett was lost for the series when he collided with DeShields going for a first inning pop-up. |

Martinez, Sheffield Stockton jumped out to an early 4-0 lead after two innings, but Fort Worth came roaring back with two in the 5th, and one each in the sixth and seventh. Both bullpens were excellent from then on until the 14th inning, when Fort Worth touched a gassed Eckersley (pitching his third inning of the game and fifth in two days) for two runs on Winfield’s double that scored Sheffield and Edgar Martinez. Edgar was the hitting star of the day, going 3-6 with three runs scored, two RBI, a HR and a double. |
