Game #1: | It looked good for Long Beach as Schilling allowed a homer to Fielder as the Titans scored 2 runs int he first. But Ventura answered with an rbi hit to cut the lead to 2-1. In the 6th Fielder came up big driving in Baegra again. However in the bottom of the 6th Ventura Winnipeg best clutch hitter came through with a 2 run hit off Guzman. With the Game tied 3-3 Selkirk went to the pen. Beck pitched a clean 8th. In the bottom of the 8th Javy Lopez came off the bench and got a rbi single off Perez to give Winnipeg a 4-3 lead. Game #2: | Glavine was great not only on the mound going 7.1 shutout innings but with the bat as he went 2 for 3 with a rbi plus causing a huge Gonzalez error to score two runs. After 2 Games: | Winnipeg takes the first two at home through strong pitching and clutch hitting. Games 3 4 with Candiotti, and Schilling and taking the hill at Long beach. If the series goes 5 games Glavine will be asked to come through again for Winnipeg.

Game #3: | Long Beach opened the scoring in the 3rd on run scoring hits by Pendleton & Fielder to take a 2-0 lead. Smith added a solo HR in the 4th to make it 3-0. Winnipeg cut the lead to 3-2 in the 6th on a Devereaux RBI 1B and a McGwire SF. The Goldeyes got to the Long Beach bullpen when Lofton hit a 3 run HR in the 7th to move Winnipeg to a 5-3 lead. That’s the way it ended as Beck and Rojas threw 3 no hit innings to close out the series. The Titan bullpen which had been so strong all year let them down in the most important game of the season. |
