Series Preview:  Winnipeg has gone all in, in its attempt to repeat as league champions. Valdosta is in rebuild mode so the Goldeyes have a chance to spread its wild card spread,
Game #1:  Newly acquired Darling was great in his Winnipeg debut as hes allowed just 3 hits in 7.2 innings, and Rojas closed it going 1.1 innings for the save. WGE 3 VAL 0 W-Darling (8-10) S-Rojas(24) L- Moore(3-17)
Game #2:  Winnipeg gets a solid start from Benes 2 runs in 6+ and Beck comes in for an old school 1 run save over 3 innings by Beck. WGE 3 VAL 2 W-Benes( 14-6) S-Beck(15) L Gubicza(4-8)
Game #3:  Valdosta did great hit Schilling hard but Winnipegs bats came through with a 6 – 5 win. WGE 6 VAL 5 W-Schilling(15-6) S-Rojas(24) L-Boever(5-4)
Game #4:  Candiotti was solid for Winnipeg with 1 in 5 innings and Rojas came in and got the 25th save. WGE 3 VAL 1 W-Candiotti(8-10) S-Rojas(25) L-Osborne(10-11)
Game #5:  Finally some hitting as Cooper homered and Buhner answered for Winnipeg. Winnipeg completed the sweep with a 8-6 win. W-Glavine(12-7) S-Beck(16) L-Blair(1-1)
Game #6:  Winnipeg wins its 10th in a row all close games but the combo of Beck 20XZ and Rojas 21XZ came through big with 5 for 5 in saves. They started off the season poorly but now are living up to their grades.
Valdosta simply did not hit enough as Winnipeg was just too much in this 5 game series.

Series Preview:  Sugar Land v Bandits for a 5 game set.
Game #1:  Skeeters bombard Sottlemyre and Langston is sharp for the visitors. Jay Bell drives in 5 for Sugar Land to power their offense.

Game #2:  Bandits led 2-0 after 5 full until hot Jay Bell strikes again witha 3-run jack in the 6th. His dinger ends up being the game winner.

Game #3:  Bandits jump out early plating 4 in the 1st. It would be Blarney Drive’s day as they collect13 hits and Hanson goes 8 strong.

Game #4:  After a day off it’s Magnante vs Young and both pitchers are stellar. Both starters have shutouts through 5 but the Bandits draw first blood in the 6th as Chito Martinez drills a double with two men on. Skeeters would tally 1 in the 8th and threaten in the 9th. Daryl Hamilton, first game back from injury, catches the final out as he crashes into the wall, he’ll be out again for 11 games. Young goes the distance allowing just 5 hits.

Game #5:  Blarney Drive’s Blyleven allows just 3 hits over 7 innings and the Bandit bullpen contains the Skeeters. Butch Henry was solid through 3 innings but lost it badly in the 4th and 5th allowing 5 runs.

Series Preview:  Corktown plays host to the Janesville Juggernauts for a series of 5.

Series Preview:  1st place Germantown comes to Steel City to face a trade-depleted Sluggers squad.
Series Summary:  Steel City takes 3 of the first 4, but drops the final two. Still, a very unexpected series win helps recent trade partners Long Beach and Winnipeg tighten up in the standings. The Sluggers seem poised to be major spoliers down the stretch.

Series Preview:  Tex-mex time 
Game #1:  Panthers feast on the Chihuahuas as they went ahead 4-0 after two innings and didn’t look back. Middle of the order was dominant for Ft. Worth as Martinez, Sheffield, and McGriff combined for 9 for 14 with 4 homers – two by McGriff. Bill Wegman wins his 14th improving to 14-5.

Final Score FWP 8, MEX 1

Game #2:  Ft. Worth scored two in the first and held on to win. Incredibly Zane Smith stayed perfect improving to 14-0.

Game #3:  Two hit complete game shutout by Panther’s Bob Tewksbury, who improved to 18-3. DeShields hit a 2 run homer.

Final Score: FWP 4, Mex 0

Game #4:  Another shutout for Ft. Worth this time a 5 hit complete game by Kevin Brown. The only run of the game was a solo home run by McGriff – his 33rd of the year. Brown goes to 16-4.

Game #5:  Ft. Worth jumps ahead in the first 4-0 with a triple by Hulett and a three-run jimmy jack by McGriff – his 34th, but Mexico City cuts the lead in half in the bottom of the first when Gwyn leads off with a solo home run and Mitchell singles home another run. The two teams traded runs in the 2nd and the Panther’s got an insurance run in the 8th which came in handy when closer Austin struggled in the 9th, but Maddox came in to get the final out. Panther starter Abbott improves to 19-5

Series Summary:  Ft. Worth sweeps extending their winning streak to 8 games and now has a chance to clinch the division title in next weeks series against Chicago. Things got tighter in the AL West for the Chihuahuas who go to Detroit next week.

Series Preview:  Long Beach seeking a playoff spot and has dug deep to bolster their pitching – wow what pitching! Manhattan – 10 game lead a week ago dropped 7 to the Missouri and is clinging to a 3 game lead. And dealing with injuries. What a week to host the Titans.
Game #1:  Dennis Martinez takes the hill in game 1 and gets a 2 run lead in the 4th on back to back homers from Fielder (16) and Justice (19). But the Gas Hornets sting back in the bottom half scoring 3. They get a 4th run (unearned) in the 7th off Lilliquist and Welch, Howe and Jones keep the Titans scoreless the rest of the way.

Game #4:  A day off and it really helps the home team. 3 runs in the second and Melido Perez is struggling. 5-0 going into the 8th when someone (Fielder) gets to Morris with a 2 run homer (17). Jack Morris actually worked the game from both ends, rbi single in the 2nd, SF in the 4th. Gas Hornets tack on 3 runs in the 8th (2 off Lilliquist – 1 unearned) and the Gas guys pull one out. Tino goes down for 5 days.

Game #5:  Viola vs. Hershisher and it’s a nail biter. But 7 walks by Titans pitchers (5 by Viola) allowed Manhattan to score 5 runs (2 unearned – the errors killed them in the series). Pendleton and D.Smith got 2 hits each.
