Janesville  Juggernauts @ Portland  Mavericks
Preview
The Janesville Juggernauts come to Portland with a 65-90 record.  Portland stands at 90-65 in their first year in MWWL existence, with a magic number of one, to be number one in the AL West. Portland fans are in their weirdest, hoping to celebrate their first season. The pesky Flying Squirrels are hoping for a miracle, while Portland fans are raising a glass to the law of averages. LETS PLAY BALL!!!
Game #1: Allan Anderson 4-7 4.61 JAN vs Ken Hill 12-8 3.74 POR
Bobby Bonilla silences the buzzing Portland crowd with a three run ka-fu$%ing-boom shot in the first inning with two on. 3-zippo JJ. In the top of the 2nd Hill gets out some aggression by nailing Donnie Hill, who will not see any more action in 1991. With two outs and the bases loaded, Hill pitches around Bonilla and gives up a walk 4-0 JJ. The Juggernauts get THREE more on a THREE run by Lance Johnson. His first of the year. He was saving up for a big one. Rob Deer then stuns the Portland crowd with his own 2 run shot. Nine to nothing for the Nauty ones before the harvest ends. The Juggernauts get 10 runs before chasing Hill off the field.  And that, was all, he wrote. Because no runs where scored… and all the Portland fans were buying beer so no one noticed.
Game #2: Walt Terrell 11-7 4.49 JAN vs Mike Moore 11-10 4.12
Portland jumps out to 2-0 lead. Rob Deer scores on a 2-out single by Danny Tartabull to close the gap to one for JJ, and then a double by Wilson gives the Juggernauts a 3-2 lead. Portland ties it up in the 6th, and then take the lead 4-3. And then… in the twilight of a mid-summers eve, Will ‘The Thrill’ Clark sends one deep… deep… deep into the sky for a two-run shot that has Portland fans dancing in the isles. Going into the top of the ninth… Portland fans are all standing, 3 outs from a playoff birth. The answer my friends… is yes!!!!! The Mavericks break the ice in their first season and win the AL West with a 6-3 win, and the shoulders of local idol Will Clark.
Game #3:
Jack Armstrong 3-6 5.46 JAN vs Steve Avery 12-9 3.14 POR Janesville wins 10-5 with HRs from Tartabull and Surhoff.
Game #4:
Ramon Garcia 5-6 6.67 vs Charlie Hough 9-10 4.46 Portland gets the win in the bottom of the 10th 3-2.
Game #5:
Rich Delucia 7-10 5.60 JAN vs Greg Swindell 17-6 2.31 POR Four of 5 Portland runs come off HRs in a 5-0 win. Swindell completes a very nice season for Portland.
Game #6:
Allan Anderson 5-7 4.40 JAN vs Ken Hill 12-9 3.99 POR All Portland in this one as they cruise to a 15-1 win.
Game #7:
Walt Terrell 11-8 4.55 vs Frank Castillo 5-1 4.09 POR A Grand Slam and 3-run HR by Will Clark caps Portland’s season in a 14-0 win. Frank Castillo goes all the way for the shutout.
Summary
Portland wins 5-7 and will represent the AL West in the playoffs.

Missouri  Black Bears @ Manhattan  Gas Hornets
Preview
Missouri Black Bears travel to Manhattan to take on the Gas Hornets and pad their record. Final series of the season for both teams with dreams of next year (or next decade)….
Game #1:
Burkett breaks up Harris’s no-hitter with a 2 out single in the 7th. O’Brien breaks up the shutout with a 2 run homer (15) in the 7th that put the Black Bears up 2-1 for the game and that’s the final.
MBB 2-4-1 WP Burkett (10-14) S K.Patterson (13)
mGH 1-7-0 LP Harris (5-13)
Game #2:
Nothing but Bear growls in this one – 14 hits, 4 homers, 10 runs to support Dennis Rasmussen. Bonds 4 for 4, 2 Homers (14,15) and 3 rbis. Allanson 3 hits, double, HR (2) and 3 rbis. O’Brien goes long again (16).  Santiago (11) homers and having another good season.
MBB 10-14-0 WP Rasmussen (4-6)
MGH 2 – 5-1 LP Pertry (4-12)
Game #3:
Gas Hornets again playing it close with 1-1 tie through 7. But another 2 run O’Brien HR (17) followed by a Matt Williams blast (27) in the 8th gives the Black Bears a 4-1 lead. Single run by Gas Hornets not enough in the 9th for Manhattan.
MBB 4-8-0 WP Bielecki (10-8) S Orosco (1)!!
MGH 2-7-2 LP B.Patterson (2-5)
Game #4:
Jimmy Key loves to pitch in this ballpark (doesn’t matter if it’s for or against the Gas Hornets). He goes 6.2, 8 hits, 1 run. His team gives him 4 runs of support and that was fine as the bullpen shuts out Manhattan. O’Brien 2 run DOUBLE (not homer) biggest hit.
MBB 4-12-1 WP Key (8-12)
MGH 1-10-0 LP Stewart (3-19)
Game #5:
3 run Santiago homer (12) in the 1st and Gas Hornets were off an running. Vanderwal adds a 2 run triple and Leary gets his 2nd win of the year – and 2nd straight win! O’Brien only managed a single in this one.
MBB 3-13-0 LP Portugal (4-11)
MGH 6-12-1 WP Leary (2-7) S B. Patterson (5)
Game #6:
Black Bears take charge in game 6 behind the 2 hit pitching of Jack Morris! 7Ks, 0 runs in his 8 innings. 2 run Sierra HR (23) in the 1st was all that was needed, but they scored 4 more along the way including Dave Howard’s 1st HR of the year. O’Brien hitless.
MBB 7-15-1 WP Morris (12-10)
MGH 0- 2-2 LP Ashby (1-7)
Game #7:
Rematch of the opening game of the series between John Burkett and Greg Harris and again it’s a 1 run game. And John Burkett, who had 5 hits in the Real 1991, gets 2 hits in this game (3 hits this series) and drives in all 3 runs Black Bears scored. And Burkett’s rbis were just enough to carry the day and Manhattan can only muster 2 runs – both driven in by Chico Walker. So it was Burkett 3, Walker 2. O’Brien again hitless.
MBB 3-9-0 WP Burkett (11-14), S K. Patterson (14)
MGH 2-8-1 LP Harris (5-14)
Summary
Fun season, ends earlier than usual, but still a blast watching a lot of talent along the way (most of it on the other teams). Missouri takes the series 6-1 for 75-87 record while Manhattan drops to 35-127 – worst record in the league this year. Wow a difference in a year – last year they won 113 for the most in the league. Oh, well, rebuild in progress.

Chicago  Demolition @ Flossmoor  Flying Squirrels
Preview
Flossmoor wraps up their inaugural regular season with a series with local rival Chicago.
Game #1:
Ricky Bones and the home side fall behind 3-0 early in this one but battle back behind three homers from Ron Gant. Bones settles down and goes 8 strong innings for the win.\
FFS 9 – CHI 3
Game #2:
Near disastrous first inning for Flossmoor as Maddux leaves the game on the second pitch, out for four days. Then on the third batter, Teufel and Gant collide and both are out for multiple games. Demolition jump out to a 3-0 lead in the fourth, all coming with two outs. Baines homers in the bottom of the inning to get one back. Chicago tacks one on in the 7th to regain the 3 run lead. Another run in the 8th for the Demo and that is all she wrote
CHI 5 – FFS 1
Game #3:
Two in the 2nd for the visitors who score first in the third straight game.  Two more in the third for Chicago, Flossmoor gets one back. Clemens pitches through traffic with the help of some double plays to go 7 innings.  Flossmoor gets one in the 9th but that’s all.
CHI 4 – FFS 2
Game #4:
Another big inning early for Chicago as they score 3 in the 2nd. Demo add another in the 3rd but Flossmoor gets two back to make it 4-2.
Bichette goes yard for the Squirrels in the 4th to cut the lead to one.
Then in the 7th Bichette with his second solo shot to tie it at four.
Flossmoor takes the lead in the bottom of the 8th on a two out RBI hit from Travis Fryman.
Olson comes in to close it out for his 32nd save.
FFS 5 – CHI 4
Game #5:
History made as Jeff Bagwell is hit by a pitch for the 27th time this year, setting the single season mark in the MWWL. However, he is out for 2 days.
Squirrels take the lead in the 3rd as a double steal by Puckett and Gant results in an errant throw, scoring Puckett and putting Gant at third, who comes home on Baines’ sac fly. 2-0 FFS.
Chicago come back with a six run 4th and Puckett is hurt for 4 days. Injuries galore at the worst time.
Flossmoor gets 3 back in the 5th to make it a one run deficit. Single runs in the 6th and 7th extend the lead for Chicago.
Chicago wins it 8-5
Summary
Flossmoor limps to the finish losing two of three to the Demolition and suffers a slew of injuries along the way. Playoffs on the horizon but the outlook is bleak.
