Series Preview
The two bottom teams in the NL East butt heads.
Game #1:
Despite Devon White’s 4 hits, Missouri prevails 9-5. Key with a good performance for the Bears.
Game #2:
Bonds, Williams, and Sierra homer for the Black Bears as cagey veteran Jack Morris shuts down the Skeeter offense. 8-2 Missouri.
Game #3:
Bears make four errors leading to five unearned runs. Devon White stays hot with two triples. Skeeters win, 9-5.
Game #4:
It takes 13 innings but the Skeeters win their second straight, 6-5. White stays hot with another three hits including a HR and two steals (five so far versus one caught). Floyd Bannister sees his ERA raise to 2.48 in a decent performance.
Game #5:
Jerry Reuss, grade 3, pitches a CG with no earned runs. White has two hits, three RBI, and two steals. 6-1 Skeeters.
Game #6:
White goes hitless but Skeeters win their third straight, 6-3, as Maldonado hits a 3-run HR to cap a four-run seventh.
Game #7:
Bonds and Gallaraga homer as Missouri wins the finale, 7-2. Key with his second win of the series. Devon White goes 0-4 again, removing the luster from his earlier hot streak, but is still 13-31 in the series with seven steals, three triples, and a homer.
Series Summary
Sugar Land wins four of seven but remains in last place.

Manhattan Gas Hornets @ Clovis Cougars
Series Preview
First place Manhattan cruises into Clovis for a five gamer.
Game #1:
Clovis takes the opener 3-1 behind Ken Howell.
Game #2:
Gas Hornets return the favor with a 3-1 win of their own behind the strong arm of Jeff Ballard who improves to 9-5 on the season.
Game #3:
Scott Bankhead is superb in a 2-0 shutout for the Cougars.
Game #4:
Scott Garrelts returns the favor in a 2-0 shutout of his own for Manhattan. Garrelts improves to 13-1 and looks like he will need to clear some space on the trophy shelf after the season ends.
Game #5:
Clovis takes the rubber game 4-0 behind another strong performance from Kirk McCaskill.
Series Summary
Clovis takes a well played and superbly pitched 3-2 series win. Despite series loss Gas Hornets look like the class of the NL.

 

Germantown Grays @ Winnipeg Goldeyes
Series Preview
Winnipeg is having their best season and are not far from reaching .500 but Germantown is a much better team with playoff dreams.
Game #1:
The real John Smoltz did not show up and Winnipeg hammered him for 7 in 3 innings. Glavine allowed just 1 homer and won his 7th for Winnipeg.

Game #2:
Finley gave up 3 runs and the game went into extra where Winnipeg squeaked out a 4-3 win as Jefferies got 3 doubles.
Game #3:
Benes final start of the year was a gem K’s 10 allowing no earned runs in 8 innings.

Aquilera blew the game giving up 6 runs as the Winnipeg pen was great and got the win.

Game #5:
Calderon and Devereaux homered as Stottlemyer was great again as the grade 7 lowered his era to 2.30, WPG 4 3 Amazing Winnipeg was up 5-0 vs a much better team now the doubleheader.
Game #6:
Glavine had long ball troubles again as Ger got 3 homers and 4 runs off him that was enough for Smoltz.

Finley the 1`6 wasn’t great again but this time the Germantown bullpen was great.

Series Summary
Winnipeg is thrilled to have won 5 of the 7 and are now just 5 games under .500 at 50 and 55. Not a happy series for Germantown who had to expect to have won 4 for 5 games vs 4th place Winnipeg.

Series Preview
The Janesville Juggernauts host the league leading Fort Worth Panthers in a 5 game match up. Fort Worth comes to Janesville with a league best 67-28 record.

Game one was close until the 8th inning, when Fort Worth come up with six runs to win the game 7-2.

The Panthers score 7 runs early and the bullpen holds it up as they win 8-6.
