Steel City routs, 13-4. Former Skeeter Lloyd McClendon with a homer, four hits and six RBI. Thon with 2 HR.

Steel City routs, 17-4. Esasky with 2 HR and 4 RBI. Bannister, scheduled to pitch game 4, allows 5 runs (4 earned) in 1 relief IP when bullpen runs thin. . .

. . .but then, after one day of rest, he pitches a 3-hit shutout to win his start, 1-0. He is now 3-4 with a 2.39 ERA in 101.2 IP. Again, this is a grade 4 pitcher! Interestingly, neither team hits an extra-base hit in this game.

Steel City routs, 9-1. Sabo: 4 RBI. Saberhagen: 8 IP.

Steel City outscores the Skeeters, 49-10, yet doesn’t sweep because of the incredible Floyd Bannister.

Battle for 4th

Not much to see in this series as Long Beach wins 4 of the 7 games as they got the clutch homers. Ex Goldeye Pete Incaviglia did alot of damage.

Chicago fighting with the Panthers of Fort Worth for 1st place in the American League Central take on 3rd place California for a seven game home set.

Dave Stieb (12-3 2.51) goes 7 strong allowing only 1 ER. Eckersely gets his 27th save on the season.

Final Score: Chicago 3 – California 1

Doug Drabek (12-4 2.02) get the complete game shut-out. Eric Davis hits a solo Home Run in the 4th inning for the only run in the game.

Mike Jeffcoat (2-3 2.99) picks up the win for California.

Rick Mahler (4-1 3.73) goes 8.2 innings, but gets pulled without getting the complete game shutout.

Nolan Ryan (8-7 3.46) out pitches Roger Clemens. Ken Griffey Sr. goes 3 for 5 with 2 Triples & 5 RBI’s.

Final Score: California 9 – Chicago 4

This one goes 12 full innings, and Zane Smith (4-6 4.10) comes out of the pen to pick up the win. Dennis Eckersley (2-1 1.34) takes his
first loss on the season.

Zane Smith (5-6 3.77) who finished game 6, starts game 7 and picks up the win by going 7 shutout innings. Jose Canseco hits 2 Solo HR’s. Paul O’Neil goes down with a 5 game injury for the Quakes.

Chicago only wins 2 and is very glad to see California head home and get out of the Windy City of Chicago.

Germantown strikes early and holds on as Acker gets hold #16 and Montgomery save 26. Hoffman doubles twice for 2 RBI and McGwire homers

Gas Hornets plate 4 in the 9th to win 5-1.

Germantown loses another lead and Gas Hornets plate 5 in the 9th this time.

Germantown again has the early lead and gives it up. Garrelts is now 12-1. Finley 15-3.

Yet again, Germantown gives up 4 runs in the later innings to lose 5-3.

Michigan comes off a disappointing road trip by dropping 5 of 7 against Valdosta.Missouri had a nice road series against Germantown by taking 4 of 5.

Bailes vs. Tanana – battle of leftysBailes gets hit early and exits the game. Tanana pitches 7.1 innings and gives up 1 run. Juan Samuel is the star for Michigan as he hits a homer and drives in 2 runs.

Key vs. Deshaies (more leftys)In the 8th inning, Michigan breaks it open with 4 runs. Missouri gets homers from Bonds and Wynne. Michigan with homers by Gaetti and Palmeiro. Deshaies goes to 11-4 with the Michigan win.
