Continuing what Swindell started, Mike Moore tossed 7& 2/3 of 4-hit shutout ball before being ejected from the game for hitting Greg Brock with a pitch, seriously injuring the Tiger’s slugger, who will miss 3 weeks. The Bears used 6 hits efficiently to outscore TC.

John Cerutti has his 2d CG victory in the series giving up only 3 hits and 2 unearned runs. Kirby Puckett had a 3-run HR in the 1st to erase a 2-0 deficit. Luis Polonia contributed a 2-run HR to give Cerutti enough cushion to complete the game. The Bear now have a 4-2 series lead.

Bobby Witt failed again to provide the Bears with a good start, lasted only 1 inning and, after the game, was demoted to the farm team. The Bears could not overcome the early 4-0 lead by the Tigers. Stan Jefferson’s (4th) HR off Mark Portugal proved to be the winner as the Bears rallied late with a run in the 8th and 2 in the 9th, but they stranded the tying and the Tigers edge the Bears in the final game
