picks up his 2nd save of the year.
Game #3:
Winnipeg 3-1. Erik Hanson(4-2) and 3 relievers shut down the Bombers.
Game #4:
Valdosta 5-2. Bombers edge the Goldeyes behind Scott Terry (2-2).  Tom Glavine took the loss for Winnipeg.
Game #5:
Valdosta 1-0. Tom Browning (4-1) with the CG 4 hitter.

Bombers win the series 4-1 with some very solid pitching.

In the N.L. East, its the 4th place Sugar Land Skeeters taking on
3rd place Michigan.

Bannister at Sutcliffe
Great game. Tied 3-3 until the 10th. Then, the Skeeters score 2 runs to defeat Michigan. Skeeters win despite committing 4 errors. Darren Daulton hits his 1st homer of the year for Sugar Land. Greg Harris gets the win in relief. He is 5-2.

Reuss vs. MilackiSkeeters lead 2-0 until the 7th when Michigan scores 2 runs to tie the game. Then, in the 8th, Michigan gets 2 more to win the game. Bo Jackson and Tom Brunansky each get 2 hits for Michigan. Milacki is now 3-2.

Bautista vs. Deshaies.Deshaies keeps up his great pitching for Michigan. He goes 7.1 and gives up 1 run. He is now 5-2 with a ERA of 1.04. Cal Ripken goes long for Michigan.

Pete Smith vs. Tanana.Well pitched game, but Tanana is victorious. Matt Nokes hits a homer for Michigan. Tanana is 5-2 and Smith drops to 0-5.

Three run homer in the third by Carlos Martinez breaks a 1-1 tie and the Cats cruise from there.

The 3,4,5 hitters in the Panther lineup each drive home a run while Brown and the bullpen dominate the Taco Bell dogs.

Game #3:
The home run derby game. All the runs were scored on dingers. Ft. Worth starter Anderson struggled again, but the Panther bullpen shuts the door over the last 3 innings.

Game #4:
This time the Panther pen implodes as the Chihuahuas run away with the game in the 8th.

Game #5:
McGriff hits a 2 run homer in the bottom of the 11th to give Ft. Worth the victory.

Series Summary
Panther’s move past the Quake into 2nd place in the AL East, but are still two games behind Chicago. Pending the Cedar Park series  Mexico City sees their division lead in the West shrink to 1/2 game in front of Detroit.

 

Cedar Park Bears @ Janesville Juggernauts
Series Preview
It’s a seven game match up between AL West rivals the Cedar Park Bears, who come in at 19-15, and the home team Janesville Juggernauts, sitting in at 15-22. Play ball!
Game #1:
Game one goes to Janesville, as Storm Davis wins his 3rd game of the season, 4-2.
Game #2:
The Juggernauts power their way to a 9-5 win, getting 8 runs on 7 hits in a somewhat sloppily played game with 1 error by the Bears and 3 by the Juggernauts. Bob Knepper goes the distance evening his record at 3-3.
Game #3:
Janesville wins another tight game, 4-2, as the bullpen helps Clancy out. Parrett comes in with 2.1 innings of relief picking up his 4th win of the season.
Game #4:
In a slugfest, the Bears come through with their first win of the series, winning 11-9. The game sees 19 total hits and 6 homers, 4 by the Bears. Cummings out of the Bears bullpen picks up his first win of the season.
Game #5:
Game 5 is all Cedar Park, as Boddicker goes the distance scattering 5 hits in a 9-0 win. The Bears rap out 15 hits, with Polonia going 4 for 5 in the lead off spot.
Game #6:
In an extra inning affair, the Bears come out on top in 13 innings 9-8. Series now tied up 3-3.
Game #7:
In the rubber game, the Bears win going away 9-5. Janesville scored all 5 of their runs in the bottom of the 9th, but it was not enough.
Cerutti goes the distance in improving his record to 4-3.
Series Summary
A series that saw 3 straight opening wins by Janesville go for naught, as the Bears wake up and take the next 4 games to win the series 4-3. Cedar Park goes home to play Stockton in the next series, while the Juggernauts hit the road against Fort Worth.

Stockton Wings welcome Traverse City Tigers to town for five games.

Eric King goes the distance, giving up only two hits, both singles. In addition to Brock’s bomb, Harold Baines added two RBI. TCT lose Claudell Washington for 11 games.
Game #2:
STO 5 – TCT 4 (11 inn.)
WP: Nelson LP: Dayley
HR: Hrbek
Both teams score three in the 4th inning, Hrbek gives STO the lead with his solo shot in the sixth. Ray ties it up with an RBI single in the ninth and Pagliarulo walks it off with an RBI single in the 11th. TCT’s four errors did them in.

WP: Ojeda LP: A. Hawkins
HR: J. King, C. Davis
Stockton uses a six-run seventh inning to run away from Traverse City. Thompson and Davis had three RBI each in the inning. TCT scored four in the eighth to make it interesting.

HR: Thompson, Cotto, Leonard
Slugfest featured a little bit of everything, including an RBI HBP. There were only two innings in the game where a run didn’t score: the 5th and the 9th. Both starters struggled, but Leiter was able to hold on for the win.

WP: E. King
LP: Dunne SV: D. Jones
HR: none
King was masterful again, pitching seven innings of 2-hit, shutout ball. Dunne almost matched him for a while but TCT got to him and a weary bullpen for five runs in the last two innings.
Series Summary
STO takes the series 3 games to 2.Hard fought series featured lots of offense for both teams, and a great performance by TCT’s Eric King, who pitched 16 innings, giving up only 6 hits and no runs, and striking out 10.Hitting stars for the series were Hrbek, Leonard, and Larkin for STO, and Brock and Baines for TCT
