First place Titans vs last place Goldeyes.. Well atleast the away fans were happy with the results in this series.

Game #1:

Guerrero, Mattingly and Mumphry homer in this 12-6 thumping. Downs improves to 10-2

Game #2:

Rhoden was on his game 1 in 6.1, and Mulliniks hits a big homer in a 7 -1 Titan win. Power drops to 2-14!

Game #3:

Moyer was decent for Winnipeg with 2 in 5 then the Goldeye pen took over going 7 shutout innings as Winnipeg finally wins in 12 innings 3-2

Game #4:

Titans score 5 in the 9th off the cooked Goldeye pen. Mattingly big homer in the game. Titans 7 Goldeyes 4

Game #5:

Viola was solid in the 4-2 Titan win

Game #6:

Long beach scored 7 runs in the 12th inning.. LBT 12 Winning 5

Game #7:

Longbeach 2 Rhoden another good game 1 in 7 another good Mattingly game with 2 rbis doubles. Power drops to 2-15 he may have to go to the pen to avoid 20 losses soon.

Series Summary *

LBT takes 6 of 7 as Winnipeg’s pen was just over worked and exposed in this one. Rhoden might get pitcher of the week consideration with 2 runs in 13.1 innings and 2 wins.

·         Manhattan Gas Hornets @ Germantown Grays

Series Preview

The Manhatten Gas Hornets come to town to play a five game set with the Grays. Among the Hornets are a lot of familiar faces from just a year ago. They receive a very warm greeting from the home crowd for all the successful years of service which has carried over to the first place Hornets. We wish the good luck, but not necessarily this week. It’s a nice day for June at a cool 77 degrees and clear skies. Sit back and enjoy.

Game #1:

Jimmy Key (15-3) rolls over the Grays pitching a 3 hit 1 run gem. Hornets Williams was 2-5 w/ R 4RBI 2b and HR. Felder and Reynolds also added a couple of hits. Hornets 7-2.

Game #2:

Flanagan (9-4) out does himself as well as Key pitching a complete game 3 hit shutout. Grays 3-0.

Game #3:

Mark McGwire (.290 2-4 3RBI 2R 2HR) and the Grays kept threatening, but could not overcome the Hornets. The first five batters in the Hornets lineup compiled 11 hits 2RBI and 4 runs on their way to a 5-4 victory.

Game #4:

Grays even up the series as Guzman (11-6) allowed 1run on 3 hits over 5 innings and Dedmon, Lefferts, Maddux and Frohwith pitched scoreless relief to secure the win. McGuire provided the offense with a 2-4 R 3RBI HR day. Grays; 5-1

Game #5:

Tragedy hits the Hornets by way of a three-way collision in short right field sending Sax, Joyner and Dawson to the locker room at a crucial part of the game. The Hornets made two comebacks in this one, but fell short with the second in the 9th. Hornets Williams (.290) was 3-4 R 2b and PH Reynolds knocked in a couple. Grays got 5.1 solid innings from Reuss (2R 6H 2W v4K). Ray (.261) and Brower (.261) banged 6 hits and scored 2 runs at the top of the order and Schofield knocked a couple with 2RBI attached at the bottom. Grays 6-4.

Series Summary *

Grays win series 3-2. Best performance was Flanagan’s shutout. Hornet’s K. Williams batted an ineffectual .400 in the series.

Series Preview

Missouri, 4th in the N.L. East, comes to Michigan to play the 2nd place team.

Game #1:

jack morris takes the hill for the Black Bears against mark Langston. Both fireballers pitch well and give up 1 run. Langston stays in until the 10th inning, which is a mistake for Michigan. Missouri capitalizes with 3 runs in the 10th to win the game. Jim Morrison is the star for Missouri and knocks in 3 runs.

Charlie leibrandt vs. walt Terrell in game 2.
Both starters would not get a decision as this game also goes to the 10th inning. Palmeiro and Mel Hall hit homers for Michigan – with Hall being the game winner.

Dennis Rasmussen vs. frank Tanana
This game got ugly quick. Michigan scores 7 early and goes on to a 12-0 win over Missouri. Maldonado, Gaetti, and Ripken hit homers for Michigan. Tanana tosses a 2-hitter.

Game #4:

Bruce Ruffin vs. Teddy Higuera.
Missouri throws their 3rd straight lefty against Michigan. Teddy Higuera is the better lefty in this clash. Glenn Davis has 3 hits to lead the Marauders to the victory.

Bill Long vs. Jim Deshaies.
Ruben Sierra has a nice 3 hit game for Missouri to lead the Black Bears to the victory. Bill Long has a solid start.

Heaton, former Marauder twirler, struggles in this game. Cal Ripken has 3 hits to lead Michigan to the victory.

Game #7:

Jack Morris vs. Walt Terrell
Morris pitches real well for Missouri, but gets pulled after giving up 1 hit and 2 runs. Scott Bailes comes in relief and gives up 3 homers in one inning. Denny Walling with a pinch hit homer and Matt Nokes adds 2 taters for Michigan. Benito Santiago adds a homer for Missouri.
Maldonado gets injured for Michigan.

Series Preview

A battle of the two AL divisional last place teams. Cedar Park visits Montana who holds the league’s worst home record.

Game #1:

The first game of the series starts with some offensive fireworks as the two teams trade 6-run innings. The Bears score 6 in the 1st only to see the Cutthroats come back with 6 of their own in the 2nd. The Bears get solo HRs from Puckett and Pasqua to take a 8-6 lead. However, Montana tie it in the 8th on Castillo’s 2-run blast. The game goes to extras and the Bears win it in the 11th with 2-runs. Luis Polonia for the Bears and Willie Randolph for the Cutthroats each have 4-hit games. FINAL – CPB 10 MCT 8

Game #2:

Montana evens the series as Greg Mathews throws a complete game 5-hitter. The Bears score in the 1st, but it is all Mathews and Montana from that point. Wynne and Gedman get rare solo HRs to pace Montana offense. FINAL – MCT 4 CPB 1

Game #3:

Behind an 11-hit attack, the Cutthroats score early and often to run away with the third game of the series. Montana pitching, behind starter Mark Grant, holds Cedar Park to 6 hits, but Polonia gets 3 of them. FINAL – MCT 8 CPB 2

Game #4:

Cedar Park bats awaken as they score in every inning from the 3rd on. Puckett goes 5 for 6 and Pagliarulo gets 2 HR and 5 RBI in the blow win for the Bears. Bears collect 22 hits in win. FINAL – CPB 16 MCT 3

Game #5:

The final game of the series sees Montana pull it out and win the series 3 games to 2. Montana gets HRs from Seitzer and Strawberry as the middle of the order carries the offense. Mike Krukow and 4 relievers get it done on the mound. FINAL – MCT 5 CPB 2

Montana wins a rare series with a 3 games to 2 win. Fun and entertaining series to play.
