Roger Clemens improves to 18-2 (2.95) with a 2 hit, 11 Strike-out performance.

Game #5:

Stockton Rallies for 2 in the 9th, but comes up a run short. Final score Chicago 5 – Stockton 4.

Game #6:

In a rare start Dennis Eckersley (4-2 3.57) and 5 relievers hold down the Wings for a 5-1 Victory.

Game #7:

Stockton scores the most runs (8) that it has all series, but Kal Daniels has 2 HR’s and 5 RBI, as Chicago scores 12 runs behind Orel Hershiser (12-5 3.38) to hold Stockton in a 12-8 final.

Series Summary *

Chicago took it to the Wings and hard. A 7 game sweep and Chicago is on a 13 game winning streak.

Game #1:

Long Beach knocked Bankhead out in the 2nd and rolled to a 10-5 win. Ashby and D. James had 3 hits each and Guerrero had 3 RBI.

Game #2:

Law opened the scoring for Long Beach in the 2nd with a grand slam. Viola took over and pitched a 6 hit, 9 K shutout as the Titans won 10-0.

Game #3:

Law started the scoring again with a solo HR in the 2nd. Mattingly and C. James added HRs to make the final 5-2. Downs pitched 7 strong innings and improved to 9-2.

Game #4:

Rhoden, Bedrosian & Worrell combined on a 5 hit shutout in the Titan’s 4-0 win. D. James broke up a scoreless tie with a 2 run 2B in the 7th. Braggs added a 2 run HR to close the scoring.

Game #5:

This game was 2-2 until D. James drove in Fletcher in the bottom of the 10th to give Long Beach a 3-2 win.

Game #6:

Long Beach again jumped on Bankhead early and knocked him out after 2 innings. Mumphrey’s 5 RBI led the offense in the Titans 9-2 win.

Game #7:

Clovis broke a 2-2 tie with 3 runs in the 8th and 2 in the 9th and won 7-3. Easler had a key 2 run PH 1B and Sutcliffe gave up just 3 hits over 7 innings to pick up the win.

Series Summary *

Pretty competitive series between the two AL East cellar dwellers. Helped by two extra inning victories the Cutthroats take 5 of 7 in Ft. Worth.

Series Preview

Germantown tries to stay in playoff contention in a series against fading Missouri.

Game #1:

Santiago (.304) and Gywnn (.378) bang in 7 runs and Morris (10-5) allows only 2 runs over 6 innings as the Bears cruise pass the Grays, 8-4.

Game #2:

Aguilera (5-3) gives up 2 in 5.2 pitched and DeCinces (.244) bangs in 2 on 2 hits as the Grays hold on 4-3. Bears Liebrandt (5-9) only allowed 2ER in 6IP.

Game #3:

Bears claw the Grays 12-2. Greenwell (.368) was the big gun at 3-5 5RBI double and homer. Wilkerson (.255) also banged 3 hits and Rasmussen (4-5) gave up 1ER over 6.1IP.

Game #4:

Grays come up with 5 in the 7th to trump the Bears 9-4. Martinez (.296) had 4RBI on 2-5 hitting with a triple and homer. DeCinces (.254) went 3-4 plating 2 and a double. Cruz (.262) banged 2 homers for 3RBI on 2-4 hitting. Bears Santiago was 4-5.

Game #5:

Grays hold on and win the rubber match 4-3. McGuire provided the big hurt with a 3 run homer on 3-4 hitting. Bears Pendelton was also 3-4 with 3RBI a double and homer. Guzman allowed 1ER in 5.1IP.

Series Summary *

Bears Gwynn and Santiago combined to bat over .400, but to no avail.

·         Detroit Stars @ California Quakes

Series Preview

California plays host to Detroit.

Game #1:

Game was decided in the 8th & 9th innings, with Detroit scoring 6 runs & California scoring 4 runs. Dave Parker does the damage for Detroit, going 2-4 with 2 HR and 4 RBI. DET 7 – CAL 5

Game #2:

California jumps out to a big lead with a 7-run 2nd, and that’s all they would need. DET 5 – CAL 9

Game #3:

California squeaks one out behind 7 strong inning by Nolan Ryan. Det 2 – CAL 3

Game #4:

California once again chases Detroit pitching early in the game, this time by plating 6 runs in the bottom of the 3rd with help from a Carlton Fisk 3-run HR. Detroit would score 4 runs in the contest, but came up short. DET 4 – CAL 6

Game #5:

A lovely game for those who like home runs. 3 for Detroit, 2 for California. The grand finale, a walk off grand slam by Lloyd Moseby. DET 8 – CAL 10
