·         East Pointe Marlins @ Detroit Stars

Series Summary *

EPM takes series over Det

·         Long Beach Titans @ Winnipeg Goldeyes

Series Preview

Long Beach came into this series in second place, the Goldeyes were in last. This was a seven game series so Long Beach fans were expecting 5 wins vs the youthful team from Winnipeg.

Game #1:

Downs was great for Long Beach as he allowed just two solo shots to Calderon and Eisenreich as he got the complete game win. Mumphrey had 3 hits and a homer in the 5-3 Long Beach win.

Game #2:

Rhoden went 7 shutout for Long Beach and Pedro got two homers off Whitson. Long Beach waltzed to an 11-0 win.

Game #3:

Jamie Moyer was great again for Winnipeg dropping his era to 2.85 as a 4L starter. Fraser took his first loss as Incaviglia grove in 3. WPG 5 LB 1

Game #4:

Winnipeg’s Bosio got the complete game win as he allowed just 2 in 9 innings. Pedro got hurt so that helped Winnipegs chances. Wilson got a 2 run homer as Berenguer wasn’t really on so Winnipeg won 4-2

Game #5:

This was expected to be an easy win for Sweet Music as he faced Winnipeg’s Ted Power (0-9). Viola was very good 2 runs in 8 innings allowing just an Inky homer and a walk to Power which lead to a run. Power was amazing vs the Pedroless Titans, with 1 run in 8 innings a rbi single to Bragg. WPG 2 LBT 1

Game #6:

Downs was very good again allowing just 1 run in 7 innings, and Mattingly drove in 2 without a hit. The Titan bullpen normally awesome made it interesting as Winnipeg got 2 off of Bedrock in the 8th as pinch hitter Bergman hit a 2 run shot. But Worrell pitched the 9th and got his 5th save of the year in the 3-2 LBT win.

Game #7:

SO series was tied 3-3 going into the final game. It was a rematch of Rhoden and Whitson. Whitson and his M did not allow a homer, as a result Long Beach only scored 2 off him. I’m not quite sure how Winning scored 3 runs off Rhoden in 5.2 innings as he allowed just 5 singles a triple and a walk. But Havens throw 2 shutout innings to get the 1 run save for Winnipeg 3-2

Series Summary *

Well Long Beach just didn’t hit the Winnipeg pitchers consistently in this series and as a result Winnipeg takes 4 of the 7 games. There was no real series star although the Titans Downs did go 2-0 allowing just 7 hits in 14 innings.

Cedar Park 10 Fort Worth 0

Game #4:

After a day off, the teams resumed play, and Will Clark his torrid pace. Clark HRd (14th) again and scored twice, but it was a 3 run HR in the 6 run 7th that did the most damage, as the Panthers had a 4-1 lead to start the inning. Mike Jackson (0-2, 7.97) blew the save, Mike Boddicker (5-5, 6.34) evened his record, with BP help from Ritchie and Pena. Crim came in to record his 11th save. McGriff (6) HRd twice for the Panthers.

Cedar Park 4 Fort Worth 2
