Lansing Capitals
Weekly Preview:
Lansing continues its drive for the playoffs this week while resting some tired players. Pat Maroon comes back from a week off while Rickard Rakell leaves to get his bad hip some therapy. The winning streak has ignited the fanbase of Lansing and ticket sales continue to climb in an effort to thwart the pending move to Toledo. The mayor of Lansing has gotten involved and is looking into additional ways to keep the team in town.
Game #1:
Lansing 4, Chicago 1
Lansing gets a stellar effort from Devan Dubnyk to hold Chicago scoreless for the first 50 minutes and build up a 4 goal lead on the way to victory. Ceci ruins the shutout for Dubnyk. Lansing gets a
balanced scoring effort with single goals from Alzner, Anisimov, Campbell and Barrie. Lansing wins the physical battle with 29 hits to 15 for Chicago. Both teams are perfect on the penalty kill.
Dubnyk with the first star Anisimov with the second star Barrie with the 3rd star

Teams combine for 72 hits.
Anisimov 1st star
Backstrom 2nd star

Game #3: Lansing 3, Jagr 1
A lot of noise in the 1st period but the lamp does not light. Jagr fights off one penalty. The drought continues with both teams fighting off a PK,until later in the 2nd when Kadri pumps one in for Jagr. Lansing responds a few minutes later when Bennett deflects one in. No more action in the 2nd and we go into the 3rd tied 1-1. Lansing scores one partway into the 3rd with Brouwer pumping one in. 2 penalties by Jagr keep them from doing very much the rest of the way, and then Lansing adds an empty netter to polish this one off.Dubnyk with another near perfact game saving 19 of 20.
Bennett 1st star
Barrie 2nd star
Brouwer 3rd star
Weekly Summary:
Lansing continues to ride great goaltending, allowing only 4 goals in 3 games. Offensively scoring is coming from all the lines with 12 goals from 10 players these 3 games.

Bathgate Rangers
Weekly Preview:
Rangers host three games – only goal at this point is Kane’s chances for scoring title.
Game #1:
Mar 13 vs. Brentwood – might be the 1st time we’ve had 2 of the 3 Stars and lost the game.
Bandits score 3 in final period to gain the comeback win. 3 goal Bathgate 2nd made it look hopeful and then regaining the lead 4-3 early in the 3rd kept hopes up, but Stewart scores the tying goal
with a minute and a half to go and then with 13 seconds left Marleau slips in the game winner! And both the last 2 goals were even strength.
FINAL 5-4 Brentwood
STARS:
1. Crosby 1 goal, 2 points (BWB)
2. Staal 2 G (BRG)
3. Kane 1 goal, 3 Points
Game #2:
Jagr comes to town and we couldn’t find a barber – and couldn’t find the net enough. Rangers skate to 2-0 lead after 1, but 4 unanswered Mullets goals in the 2nd were to much. But they had to add 3 more in the 3rd for a 7-3 win.
STARS – all the JAGR types
1. Staal – Hat Trick and 4 points total
2. Pavelski – 2 Goals
3. Abdelkeder 1 goal, 2 points
Kane watch – he gets an assist on a Benn goal.
Game #3:
Flying Tigers fly in – score 2 in the 1st, then after a scoreless 2nd, they let the Rangers score 3 unanswered goals in the 3rd. – BUT remember, Rangers have no defense when it counts so Lakeland socres 3 of their own after that for a 5-2 win.
STARS (all Lakeland)
1. Spezza 2 goals
2. Henrique 1 goal, 2 points
3. Ladd 1 goal
Kane watch – he scores 1.
Weekly Summary:
Oh if defense was a good as the offense we might be a contender but instead we drop three at home.

Indiana Sycamores
Weekly Preview:
Indiana’s last-ever home game is a big one – vs. rival New Jersey
Game #1: Not an empty seat in the house as Indy bids farewell to their loyal fans..and the emotion showed; the Sycamores came out tentative and jittery. NJ controlled play early on, but backup G Reto Berra held the fort for Indy.In the second, Indy found their legs and scored first – as he has so often, the Captain led the charge as Toews netted his 22nd of the season.

Sycamore-killer Weber evened things up with his 20th (and 3rd in the past 2 against Indy), but 17 seconds into the third Mr. Selke himself, Patrice Bergeron, put the Sycamores ahead to stay. NJ had a couple looks, but overall Indy defended the narrow lead beautifully.

Pretty even game – shots, PP time, attack time very close.

3 stars: Berra (25 sv), Bergeron, Toews.

Afterward the players circled the rink saluting the fans for 35 minutes. Not a dry eye in the house.

Weekly Summary:
Big win keeps the playoff door SLIGHTLY cracked for Indy.
