SPACE NEEDLE DRAFTED FOR SECOND TIME BY CHICAGO MOBSTERS

For Immediate Release
February 5, 2000

Draft Central —  Detroit, Michigan    After having to release the “Space Needle” and expose him to the MWBL 2000 Draft, the Chicago Mobsters today re-drafted Ryan Anderson, with the fifth overall selection in the MWBL 2000 Draft.   Anderson who was drafted by the Mobsters in 1997 (Pick #214) while the Mobsters were in the Iowa Baseball Confederacy, was just a tall gangly kid out of Devine Child High School in Dearborn Michigan.  Three years later he goes 5th overall, and the Mobsters felt very lucky to get him back.  Chicago Mobster General Manager John (Stray) Corrado, for weeks was upset that they lost Anderson on the 3 year carded/uncarded rule. “The thought of us investing so much time in Anderson and then watching some other Mid-West Baseball League team reap the benefits was so hard to take.   So we worked the trade routes through the Winter and ended up with the 5th selection.   We sweated it out for a while, but were happy the way picks 1 through 4 went”.   Anderson who has a great fastball and wicked slider as his number one and two pitches, also has a change up that he can throw with the best of them.   Pedro Martinez dominates hitters with his fastball and change up, Anderson could be the same type of impact pitcher.   Plus to top it all off, he has that wicked slider.   Just moving the ball down a inch in the strike zone will do wonders for him.   Look for Anderson to be in a Mobsters uniform by the end of the 2001 Mid-West Baseball League Season.
