Hollywood Werewolves @ Virginia Sluggers

Series Summary: Hollywood splits with Virginia. Kershaw now 0-3 probably for the first time in his life.

Sacramento Capitals @ Long Beach Dirt Bags

Game #1: Sacramento pounded Long Beach 11-1. Matz gave up 2 hits in 7 2/3 shutout innings for his first win of the season. Jones opened the scoring in the first inning with a 2-run HR. The Capitals put the game away in the 7th when Garcia had a bases-loaded 2B and Leon hit a 3-run HR. DeShields, Jones, and Flores each had 3 hits.
Game #2: This was a very good game. Sacramento took an early 3-0 lead in the 1st behind a Dickerson 2-run HR. Long Beach tied it in the 2nd on an Andrus 3-run HR. The Dirt Bags took a 4-3 lead in the 6th when Severino singled in Grossman. The Capitals tied it in the 7th on a Lindor SF. In the 9th Andrus hit his second HR of the game as Long Beach walked off with a 5-4 win.
Series Summary: A split between these 2 rivals.

Corktown Cycle @ Jersey Nor’easters

Series Summary: A very depleted Jersey team manages to sweep the 2 games series by scores of 4-2 and 9-8 in 10 innings.

Tempe Tempers @ Columbus Explorers

Series Preview: Defending NL Champs – Columbus – off to a surprising start hosts the Tempe Tempers, who is shooting for an undefeated season (and they can probably do it with their squad this year) – yikes!!!!
Game #1: Homer Bailey gets the nod to face Kenta Maeda and Alex Dickerson stakes him to a 1-0 lead with a leadoff homer (3) in the 2nd. Xander Bogaerts singles 2 batters later and that’s all the hits the Tempers got in this game. But they still had Maeda on the mound! He fans 10, gives up but 3 hits in his 6.1 innings – but he gives up solo homers to Salvador Perez (2) and Asdrubal Cabrera (2). Columbus adds an insurance run in the 8th and Tempe loses its 1st game of the season.
TEM 1-2-0 LP Maeda (1-1)
COL 3-4-0 WP Bailey (2-0) S Liam Hendriks (6)
Game #2: However, just because the Tempers lost the previous game doesn’t mean they will start a long losing streak. In fact, Freddie Freeman unloads in the 1st for a 2 run homer (3). Anthony Rendon goes 4 for 5 with 2 runs, 2 RBIs, and a solo homer (3) and starter Adam Wainwright continues to pitch well through old age as he goes 6.1 innings, 3 hits, 1 run, and 5 Ks. The Tempe bullpen yields 1 hit in 2.2 innings and Tempe starts their next winning streak with a big 5-1 win!
TEM 5-9-0 WP Wainwright (2-0)
COL 1-4-0 LP Happ (1-1)
Series Summary: Columbus is excited to get 1 win against the evil empire considering they were quite outmatched. Not expecting much more the rest of the way, but it’s been a fun start.

Southbend Lynx @ Coconut Creek Crushers

Series Preview: Looking forward to 2022.
Game #1: A Muncy HR gives SBL a 2-0 lead after four. Will Myers then takes over the game.
He hits a 3-run HR in the 5th and then a 2-run HR in the 6th. That chases Pivetta and gives CCC a cushion they wouldn’t give up. CCC wins 6-2.
Game #2: Oviedo and Morejon both pitch well. Oviedo is cruising along with a 2 run lead when that guy Myers comes up. Boom, another 2-run HR, and the game is tied 2-2 after six. Escobar hits a solo shot in the 7th to put SBL up 3-2. That would be the final score as the teams split the short series.
Series Summary: Split 1-1. Will Myers hits 3 HR’s with 7 RBI in the two games.

Cincinnati Skyliners @ Southwest Detroit Fighting Chihuahuas

Series Summary: SWD takes both games. Joey Lucchesi pitches 14 innings in game one.

Chicago Mobsters @ Yonge Street Stalkers

Series Preview: Chicago visits Yonge Street. The teams enter with matching 7-4 records. Yonge Street has won 5 in a row. Play Ball!
Game #1: As always, the Mobsters brought their pitching. Lance McCullers allowed a single hit and walked a pair in 7 innings. Three relievers were perfect to close it out for the visitors. Votto and Cruz homered. CHI 5 – YSS 0
Game #2: The Mobsters got to Brady Singer early. They scored 4 in the first and chased him with 3 more in the 4th. Urias was strong. Striking out 8 in his 6+. The home team scored a couple of cheap runs late, but it wasn’t close. CHI 7 – YSS 3
Series Summary: The Mobsters came in and smoked the home team. Brady Singer got pummeled AND hurt for 6 days. The Stalkers are fighting injuries and it’s starting to show.

Selkirk Steelers @ Valdosta Snappers

Series Preview: Last place Selkirk pays a visit to Valdosta.
Series Summary: Selkirk wins both games by 1 run. Not sure how they are in last place with the great pitching they have. And last place is where Valdosta is headed in a hurry!

Rosemere Renegades @ Portland Lumber Jax

Series Preview: The 4-6 Rosemere Renegades head to Portland to visit the LumberJax 5-4.
Game #1: This game was a barnburner. Both teams are tied after 9. In the 10th inning, perhaps the rarest of plays occurred:

D. Fletcher facing C. Stratton, T 10th, 2 Outs, bases loaded, tied 3-3:
…and Tatis’s stealing home! here’s the pitch, strike called headfirst slide and Tatis’s… SAFE!… the hand got in and he’s stolen home! TRIPLE STEAL! And they take the lead! What a play! The daring pays off! Oh, those RENEGADES, his teammates are out to congratulate him, that his 2nd steal of the season, for ROSEMERE, their 5th stolen base in this game and the Lord say hey, [blank space that I think BBW was supposed to put something here], that was quite a move!

Unfortunately, Portland would counter with a 2-run Valaika home run in the bottom of the inning to steal the win.
POR 5 RRG 4

Game #2: Portland Marquez completely shuts Rosemere down. Going into the 9th inning, Portland leads 6-0, but the luck runs out for Marquez and he gives up a three-run homer to Hoskins. Underwood and Hunter come on to get the save for Portland.
POR 6 RRG 3
Series Summary: Portland takes the series 2-0.

Motor City Muscle @ Fremont Cannons

Series Preview: AL East rivals match up for a two-game set.
Game #1: A mismatch on paper, it turned to be a low-scoring affair between Jacob deGrom and rookie Tarik Skubal.

Three straight hits open the scoring in the first for Motor City, but Max Kepler nails Mike Trout at the plate to keep it 2-0 and end the inning. Motor City threatens but goes scoreless for the next seven innings. Tarik Skubal departs with 12 K’s but behind 2-0.

deGrom cruises against the Cannons, allowing only one hit through 7 innings, notching 10 strikeouts. Motor City scores an insurance run in the ninth and takes it 3-0.

W: Jacob deGrom (2-0)
L: Tarik Skubal (1-1)
S: Jesus Tinoco (1)

HR: none

Game #2: The wind was blowing out in this one, with Luis Garcia of Motor City facing Zac Gallen of Fremont.

Yoan Moncada gets excited about some baserunners and sends a 3-run homer over the fence in the bottom of the 1st. Motor City gets right back in it in the top of the second with solo homers by Nick Castellanos and Orlando Arcia.

Teoscar Hernandez singled home Austin Hays in the 5th for Fremont, but Motor City answers in the 6th with a Mike Trout solo HR. Fremont responds with another run in the bottom of the sixth with a Joshua Rojas sac fly, then a few walks, and a Michael Brosseau PH-single give Fremont another three runs.

Motor City gets back in business, as Mike Trout homers again in the eight to bring in two, and Nick Castellanos does the same. Down by one run in the ninth, Orlando Arcia sends one deep to right, but not deep enough. Neil Walker doubles to put the tying run in scoring position, but Shane Greene strikes out Dylan Moore to close out the game.

W: Zac Gallen (2-1)
L: Luis Garcia (0-2)
S: Shane Greene (1)

HR: MCM-Mike Trout 2 (4), Nick Castellanos 2 (5), Orlando Arcia (1); FRE-Yoan Mocada (1)

Series Summary: The Muscle and the Cannons split 1-1.

Detroit Crime @ Tijuana Bottle Rockets

Series Preview: Tijuana hosts Detroit for a quick 2-game set.
Series Summary: Detroit too much for the hometown Bottle Rockets. They sweep the 2 game series by out-scoring Tijuana 21-3 in the 2 games.
