With two outs CCC calls on Babe Ruth, I mean Jared Walsh, to pinch-hit. He continues to mash with a game-winning double. CCC wins 5-4.

Game #2: Valdosta 5-3. Miguel Sano (6) and Wily Adames (3) homered for the Snappers as they got some very solid pitching and the win.
Game #3: Valdosta 2-1. Lane Thomas walked it off in the 9th with a game-ending HR.
Series Summary: Valdosta wins 2 of 3.

Southbend Lynx @ Yonge Street Stalkers

Series Preview: Coming home after a 2 game mini sweep at Mesa, Yonge Street hosts the Lynx. Both teams already treading water, early in the season.
Game #1: Scoring wasn’t a problem in this one. The game was knotted at 6, as both teams scored in 3 of the first 5 innings. SBL tallied 2 runs in the 6th to take an 8-6 lead. The home squad rallied in the 9th and Adam Frazier ended it with a walk-off 3 run shot. Taijuan Walker was tossed for hittin’ guys. Kyle Tucker homered and doubled in the losing effort. The injuries continued for YSS as Soler was lost for 5 days. SBL lost Mayfield for 2 days as well. YSS 9 – SBL 8
Game #2: Another explosion of offense. This time the YSS pen coughed up the lead in the 9th, as SBL scored twice to tie the game at 8. The magic continued though, as YSS walked off the 2nd game in a row. 4 Stalkers homered in the second straight 9-8 nail biter. YSS 9 – SBL 8
Game #3: The series closed with a “my grade 3 is better than yours” battle. YSS kept up their end of the bargain, scoring 9 runs for the 3rd game in a row. Alas, SBL tallied only 6 in the finale. YSS 9 – SBL 6
Series Summary: SBL really deserved better. They’ll continue their trip with a visit to CCC next week. The games were exciting, though none of them were pretty. The Stalkers have quietly won 5 straight and will host CHI next week.

4Pittsburgh Lumber Kings @ Long Beach Dirtbags

Series Summary:  The home team (Long Beach) takes 2 of 3 from the Lumber Kings.

Rosemere Renegades @ Columbus Explorers

Series Preview: Rosemere comes to Columbus, both teams off to OK starts – Columbus 5-3, Rosemere 4-3. Both teams have solid hitting, pitching will be the difference. And Fernando Tatis Jr. – can anyone stop him????
Game #1: Columbus gets up 1-0 in the first as Tony Gonsolin struggles with his control (walk and HPB). Then Fernando Tatis, Jr. homers (5) in the 4th to tie it up. Columbus squeaks one through in the 5th and Matt Shoemaker takes the rest of the day off. But Jimmy Herget can’t get his three batters out (2 hits and a walk) in the 6th and J.B. Wendelken is called on. He walks in the tying run but then gets the next 3 out to hold it to 2-2. Trevor Story connects (4) and the Explorers are back up by 1, but in the 7th Rosemere again ties it up. In the bottom of the 7th Columbus again works a runner across the plate for the 4-3 lead and the bullpen anchored by Liam Hendriks keeps the Renegades in check for a Columbus win.
RRG 3-8-0 LP Gonsolin (0-1)
COL 4-7-0 WP Wendelken (2-0) S Hendriks (4)
Game #2: Columbus uses a 3 run homer by Asdrubal Cabrera (1) in the 1st and a three-run shot by Shin-Soo Choo (1) in a 4 run 2nd to build a lead that even Fernando Tatis could not match. But he tried as he clubs 2 more homers (7) and drives in 3 in a 7-3 Columbus win. Jordan Lyles goes 7 big innings and smiles as he heads to the clubhouse as the improbable winner. Columbus suffers a big loss to Kiki Hernandez as he gets hit by Gonsolin – a feat he did twice in this game.
RRG 3-6-0 LP Chad Kuhl (0-1)
COL 7-8-0 WP Lyles (2-0)
Game #3: Columbus again gets a 3 run homer in the 1st – this time from Trevor Story (5) and it’s followed by a solo shot from Charlie Blackmon (2) as Columbus opens the game up 4-0. Doesn’t last long – and this time Fernando Tatis is not hitting homers – in fact, he hitless in this game, but gets 2 walks and scored twice. Rosemere gets 3 in the 2nd and 2 in the 3rd as David Fletcher gets the timely bat. His two singles lead to 4 Renegades scoring. Columbus seems to remember Gonsolin crunching a few Explorers last game and Julio Teheran and Steve Cishek do the beanball trick on a couple of Renegades (including Tatis) – no injuries though.
So, now down 5-4 in the 3rd, Columbus attacks start Alec Mills in their half of the 3rd, and Blackmon doubles in 2 more runs in a 3 run third to regain the lead 7-5. Chad Pinder then tees off (1) on Steve Cishek in the 6th to cut it to 7-6, but then the Columbus bullpen stops all further Renegades action and Liam Hendriks gets his 5th save.
Big plays come in the top of the 7th when Renegades load the bases with NO outs. J.B. Wendelken is brought in. He fans Fletcher for the 1st out then gets Pinder to bounce into the 6-4-3 DP to end the threat. Top of the 8th, Evan White leads off with a double. Magneuris Sierra comes into PR and is sacrificed to 3rd. Andrew Knapp then flies to LF, not deep, Eli White takes it in, Sierra tags and he’s out on a close play at the plate to cut off the tying run and end the inning! No more threats!
RRG 6-10-1 LP Mills (1-1)
COL 7- 8-0 WP Herget (1-0) S Hendriks (5)
Series Summary: Columbus gets the sweep – don’t know how – but we will take it. Now the steamroller comes to town for two – TEMPE the Evil Empire!!!!!
