Game #2: David Peterson gave up 3 hits and 2 runs with 11 strikeouts in 8 innings to pick up the win in a Long Beach 6-2 victory. The Dirt Bag offense had 12 hits with Justin Turner leading the way with 3 hits and Elvis Andrus with 2 RBI. Andrus and Varsho had solo HR’s.

Game #1: Bieber dominates and the home town needed it as they can barely hit Fiers.

CE 0 TCP 2W – Bieber (2-0)
L – Fiers (0-1)
S – Soria (1)
Game #2: Happ allows just 2 hits over 5+ and leaves the game tied 2-2. Explorers win the battle of the bullpens 3-0 thus the game. Story 2-3 w/ 3 RBI and 2 HRs.

CE 5 TCP 2

Pittsburgh Lumber Company @ Portland Lumber Jax

Series Preview: The 5-3 Portland Lumber Jax host the 4-4 Pittsburg Lumber Company in the battle of the… they… only two teams with Lumber in their names. This series is sponsored by Axe Body Spray)
Game #1: Portland gets 4 runs in the second inning… with Ryan Jeffers hitting a 3-run dinger, and Tyler Mahle pitchers a gem on the mound for Portland closing down the Lumber Company. Mahle gets the CG shutout 4-hitter.

POR 6 PIT 0

Game #2: This time it is the Pittsburg showing the Jax up, as Hudson and Bummer spin a 2-hitter for the Lumber Company. Pittsburg scores all three of their runs on solo homers.

PIT 3 POR 1

Series Summary: This series has been logged as a 1-1 split.

Sacramento Capitals @ Bethesda Bandicoots

Series Preview: A meaty 2-game series between the Caps and the Craps.
Game #1: Giancarlo Stanton had one at-bat in this game but made it count as he pinch-hit homer off Lucky Luis Cessa in the top of the 9th propelled the Sacramento Capitals to a 4-3 win over Bethesda.
The Player of the game was the guy who turned out to be the actual game-winner – Ryne Stanek. Usually, I think reliever wins are just a matter of being in the right place at the right time but in this case, Stanek earned his W. He pitched 2-1/3 innings and struck out all seven batters he got out while allowing no hits and a walk. Not bad for a Grade 3.
Win-Stanek (1-0)
Save-O. Perez (3)
Loss-Cessa (0-1)
HR-SAC: Stanton (2); BET: none
Game #2: A selective gale was blowing out of Bethesda Stadium tonight as the Bandicoots smacked five homers – including three in a row by Jonathan Schoop, Kyle Seager, and Carlos Santana off Stephen Matz in the 5th as Bethesda outslugged the Caps 9-6.
Supposed closer Mike Mayers continued to have tons of problems handling the stress of being the closer on a team that probably does not need one as he lasted 2/3 of an inning in the 9th and was yanked after giving up a run on two hits and two walks and leaving the bases loaded for Codi Heuer (who got a ground out to end the game). With two homers in the game, Seager is on a pace for an 81 homer season (well, in a real MLB season it would have been).
Win-Keller (1-0)
Save-Heuer (1)
Loss-Matz (0-2)
HR-SAC: Flores (1); BET:McNeil (1),Schoop (3), K.Seager 2 (4), Santana (1)
Series Summary: Sacramento and Bethesda split the soup.

Detroit Crime @ Cincinnati Skyliners

Series Preview: The Detroit Crime comes to Cincinnati for their first-ever visit at Glenn Sample Field.

Manny Machado and Yasmani Grandal both go yard on two-run homers.
Game #2: CIN 3-7-1, DET 2-8-0
Michael A. Taylor blasted a pair of solo homers.
Series Summary: Another first for Cincinnati, a series split.

Rosemere Renegades @ Jersey Nor’easters

Game #1: Jose Ramirez hits a 2-run homer in the 1st inning and that’s all the scoring in the game. John Means throws a 2-hit complete game shutout and the Nor’esters win for only the second time this season.
Game #2: Jose Ramirez hits a 1st inning homer again and the Noreasters go on to an 8-3 win. Matt Wisler has a no-hitter thru 4 innings for Jersey but goes down with an injury in the 5th. Rhys Hoskins hits a pair of homers for Rosemere to account for all 3 of their runs.
Series Summary: The Nor’easters sweep the 2 game series

Dallas Cougars @ Coconut Creek Crushers

Series Preview: DAL looking to make the playoffs. CCC looking to get close to the middle of the pack this year.
Game #1: A HR by Betts helps CCC keep up with DAL SP Plesac and his 18 Grade. The game is tied 4-4 and goes into extras. CCC finally runs out of RP depth and has to put in an itchy grade-3. That is all DAL needed to push across 2 runs and win 6-4.
Game #2: Walsh hits his 5th HR of the young season to give CCC a 3-2 lead after two innings. DAL says enough is enough and goes on a tear. The final score is 15-3 DAL. Abreu goes 4 for 5 with 5 RBI.

Series Summary: 1 win apiece.

Virginia Sluggers @ Fremont Cannons

Series Preview: Fremont has their third straight series at home looking to stay unbeaten, Virginia comes in at 2-3.
Game #1: Fremont starter Zac Gallen only allows 5 hits, but 3 of them clear the fence (two from George Springer). Fremont hits some hard too, but they are caught at the wall. Luis Castillo goes the distance for Virginia, striking out 10 in the CGSO. Virginia wins 4-0.

W: Luis Castillo (2-0)
L: Zac Gallen (1-1)

HR: VIR- George Springer 2 (5), Sean Murphy (2); FRE- none

Javier Baez hits a 2-run HR in the 6th to give Fremont the 6-4 lead.
The score stays the same into the ninth. After getting one out, Tanner Scott hands the ball to Giovanni Gallegos for the save. Gallegos gives up a walk and a single, but strikes out Jackie Bradley Jr. Virginia’s last hope is Anthony Rizzo, who blasts one over the right field fence for a 7-6 Virginia lead! Fremont can’t muster anything in the bottom of the inning, so it ends up 7-6 Sluggers.W: Kyle Finnegan (1-0)
