Virginia Sluggers @ Chicago Mobsters

Series Preview: The Sluggers from Virginia head into the Windy City for a 3 game series. Chicago will send out two young lefties & their ace. Julio Urias, Jesus Luzardo & Trevor Bauer will be on the bump for Chicago.
Game #1: Julio Urias is solid for 6.2 Innings before he hands the ball off to the Chicago pen, who run our three relievers & shutdown the Virginia squad the rest of the way. Chicago gets Home Runs from Joey Votto & Nelson Cruz (2 RBI’s). The Sluggers are blanked on the scoreboard.

Final Score: Chicago 4 – Virginia 0

Win: Julio Urias 1-0 (0.00)
Loss: Elieser Hernandez 0-1 (3.60)
Save: Aroldis Chapman #1

Game #2: Adam Plutko was awesome for the Sluggers. 7.1 Innings allowing only 2 Earned Runs. Jesus Luzardo was even better for 7 full Innings allowing 0 Runs. Alex Bregman & Nelson Cruz provide the scoring for Chicago, each with an RBI. Chicago’s pen goes 2 more innings without allowing a run.

Final Score: Chicago 2 – Virginia 0

Win: Jesus Luzardo 1-0 (0.00)
Loss: Adam Plutko 0-1 (2.45)

Game #3: An early 2-0 lead for the Sluggers was quickly undone by the Mobsters. In the 9th Chicago held a 4-2 lead, with a runner on second and Aroldis Chapman on the mound with two outs. 2 Runs later, it was tied. So they headed to extra innings where Austin Brice is downgraded to a 2, Chicago loads the bases with two outs. That’s when the rains came. They waited, and waited as the rains kept coming down. When it ended Brice was a grade 3 (Never seen a pitcher go up). Didn’t matter as Andrew McCutchen blasted the 1st pitch he saw from Brice over the leftfield wall for a Grand Slam, walk-off win for Chicago.

Southbend Lynx @ Detroit Crime

Series Summary: Detroit wins series 2-1 over Southbend.

Rosemere Renegades @ Selkirk Steelers

Series Preview: Selkirk thought we were contenders. What a disaster now 0-6 as Rosemere sweeps up despite Anderson and Fried starting. though we were an 85 win team clearly we aren’t as our pitching and hitting sucks.
Game #1: 6-4 Rosemere in 13 innings.
Game #2: 8-4 Rosemere -Tatis 5 RBIs.
Game #3: 7-2 Rosemere Max Fried gets hammered again.
Series Summary: Rosemere easily sweeps Selkirk now 0-6. Tatis for player of the week,

Valdosta Snappers @ Bethesda Bandicoots

Series Summary: Valdosta takes 2/3. hurrah. It was close as the two teams are almost equally inept. Lots of homers of course but then again I could hit a HR in the majors in 2020.

Sacramento Capitals @ Tempe Tempers

Series Preview: Sacramento comes to town playing for one of the last wild card spots as they also retool the roster for deeper playoff runs in future years. Tempe’s collection of one-year wonders in the pen hope to continue their dominant ways.

L – Matz 0-1
S – Crighton 1st
Game #2: Glasnow recorded 13 SO in 7 innings and only gave up 2 hits, but left the game in the 8th with the score 0-0. Boagerts was injured for two days sliding hard into second in the eighth but it caused Galvis to be pulled off the bag and miss Lindor’s throw. The costly error allowed the only run of the game to score in the bottom of the 8th. Hahn tossed a perfect 9th inning for the save.
Tempe 1-0
W – Bass 1-0
L – Baez 0-1
S – Hahn 3rd

Another first, the Skyliner’s first-ever win. Wong and Iglesias have back-to-back doubles in the first for the first-ever lead. Tommy Edman smacks a two-run homer in the sixth to provide the winning margin. Spencer Turnbull goes the distance, scattering five hits and fanning eight.

Tijuana Bottle Rockets @ Fremont Cannons

Series Preview: Teams are still feeling out where they fit into the league hierarchy in this strange, shortened season. The visitors of Tijuana began season 1-2, while Fremont hosts its second series after opening 3-0 at home.
Game #1: Ryan Weber of Tijuana faces the oft-injured Carlos Rodon for Fremont. Carlos Correa gets things going for Fremont by doubling home Manuel Margot to take a 1-0 lead in the 1st. Ke’Bryan Hayes puts Tijuana on the board with a solo homer in the top of the 4th, but Tijuana misses out on a chance for more as a 9-2-6 double play end the inning. Mike Yastrzemski puts the Cannons back on top with a solo homer of his own in the bottom of the frame.

Rafael Montero comes on for Fremont in the sixth and opens with an out, but an error and a shin-burner single set the stage for Isaiah Kiner-Falefa to double home two. Fremont takes back the lead with two in the bottom of the inning, but loses Yoan Moncada for six days to a HBP.

Fremont tacks on an insurance run by Carlos Correa in the seventh, which is needed with Ian Happ’s solo homer in the eighth. Giovanni Gallegos comes on to close out the game, and Fremont wins 5-4!

L: Joely Hernandez (0-1)
BS: TIJ- Joely Hernandez (1); FRE- Rafael Montero (1)

Game #2: Tanner Roark of Tijuana and Sandy Alcantara of Fremont face off in game 2, though neither will pick up a decision.

Fremont opens the scoring in the first again, as Austin Hays scores from third on a bobble and putout at second. Ke’Bryan Hayes triples in two in the third to make it a 2-1 lead for the Bottle Rockets. In the bottom of the 4th, Yulieski Gurriel knocks it into LF, and another TIJ bobble helps the Cannons score 2 and take the lead back 3-2.

In the sixth inning, Isaiah Kiner-Falefa brings home Garrett Hampson for the tying run. Fremont tries to take the lead in the bottom of the inning, but their first attempt is denied as Happ nails Max Kepler at the plate. The Cannons would continue to work, and Yulieski Gurriel delivers Travis Shaw for the 4-3 lead for Fremont.

Genesis Cabrera comes in after Alcantara allows a double in the seventh, and allows Tijuana to single in a run, but Fremont answers right back with a Byron Buxton solo HR to bring it back to 5-4 Fremont.

Shane Greene comes in to close it out for Fremont but gives up back-to-back doubles in the top of the ninth to allow Tijuana to tie it. That brings us to the bottom of the ninth, where Anthony Slegers allows a single, a HBP, and another single by James McCann to bring home the winning run. Fremont wins 6-5! Max Kepler goes 4-4 in the victory. Tijuana commits three errors in the loss, with some costly unearned runs.

W: Shane Greene (2-0)

HR: TIJ-non; FRE- Byron Buxton (1)

Game #3: Tijuana’s Huascar Ynoa faces off against highly touted rookie Tarik Skubal for Fremont.

The first two games were decided by one run. This one, not so much. Fremont romps with two in the first, two in the second, and one in the third. Ynoa is chased in the fourth. Yulieski Gurriel blasts a homer in the fifth to make it a 6-0 Fremont lead.

Jake Lamb gets back a run with a solo homer, but that would be it for the Tijuana scoring. Michael Brosseau sac flies in the last run in the 6th, and Fremont wins 7-1.

W: Tarik Skubal (1-0)
L: Huascar Ynoa (0-1)
HR: TIJ- Jake Lamb (1); FRE-Carlos Correa (2), Mike Yastrzemski (2), Yulieski Gurriel (1)
