Game #1: This game is pretty much the Verlander show as he gives up only 1 hit and no runs in 7 innings of work for his 14th win. MCM get a Trout 2-run HR in the T1and that’s all they would need. But MCM Kendrick and Arcia also hit HRs. SBL only bright spot is a Mayfield solo-HR in the B8.
MCM 5, SBL 1
Game #2: SBL gets out front with 2 in the B3 on a Joyce 2-run 2b. MCM ties it in the T6 on a Kendrick 2-run HR. The game goes into extra frames where SBL R.Martin wins it with a solo-HR in the B10.
SBL 3, MCM 2
Game #3: Another close game. MCM gets out to a 3-0 lead with a Trout rbi-1b in the T1, a Choo sac fly in the T4, and a Hamilton rbi-1b in the T5. In the B6 SBL gets a Forsythe 1b, an Altuve 1b, a Meadows rbi-1b, and a Muncy 3-run HR to take the lead. That’s the way it would end as the SBL pen of Bradley, Duffy, and Osuna close it out.
SBL 4, MCM 3
Game #4: The SBL would use 4 pitchers; Peralta, Walden, Bradley, and Osuna to notch a 4 hit shut out.
SBL Owings hits a 2-run HR in his first at-bat back from an injury in the B2 for the big hit of the game.
SBL 3, MCM 0
Game #5: Things look good for SBL with a 3 spot in the B1, but MCM answer with 7 in the T2. Pivetta walks in two runs and Castellanos hits a 3-run HR for most of the runs in the inning. From there its an offense laden game as its 8-5 after 4, 8-8 after 5, 9-8 MCM after 6, and tied again 9-9 after 8. MCM finally puts it away in the T10 when with 2 outs, Barnhart 1bs, Candelario bbs, Kendrick rips a 2-run 2B and a Trout rbi-1b.
MCM 12, SBL 9
Game #6: SBL puts this game away early with 5 runs in the B1 with an Escobar rbi-1b, Tucker 2-run 2b, and a Canha 2-run HR. SBL adds 5 more along the way as light hitting Tilson and Owings go yard. Holland with the big run support is able to pitch around 4 hits and 6 walks for the CG win.
SBL 10, MCM 1
Series Summary: Southbend takes the series 4-2 over Motor City as the offense comes back after last week’s series.
