Coconut Creek  Crushers @ Fremont  Cannons

Game #1: Zack Godley kicked off the shutouts, blanking Fremont over 8 innings for the 5-0 Crushers win.
Game #2: Dylan Bundy allows only two hits and no walks in the CGSO, and Fremont sends Blake Snell to 0-2 with the 6-0 victory. Homers by Khris Davis, Mac Williamson, and Victor Caratini did the damage for the Cannons.

Game #4: Coconut Creek’s scoreless innings streak comes to an end at 29, but Fremont still takes this one 5-1. Kolby Allard goes the distance, striking out 16 for the Cannons. Teoscar Hernandez goes 3-4 with a homer, and Khris Davis also leaves the yard for Fremont.

Game #6: Crushers bats come alive against Daniel Norris, and Coconut Creek takes the finale 9-1. Two homers by Wil Myers (for 5 RBI) and one by Mookie Betts were plenty good.
Series Summary: Fremont takes the series 4-2 at home!

Detroit  Crime @ Yonge Street  Stalkers

Series Preview: As you approached the stadium, the YSS tailgating fans could be heard chanting “BRING ON THE CRIME!” (Wait, what?)
Game #1: All in all, this was a fun game. Shelby Miller allowed just 3H but issued 6BB and allowed 3ER in his 6.2IP. Carlos Carrasco pitched well for the Crime (6IP, 5H, 1BB, 2ER). Adam Jones doubled and plated 2 for DET. Scooter Gennett doubled, homered and knocked in 2 for YSS. DET 4 – YSS 3
Game #2: Yonny Chirinos was solid (7IP, 3ER). He pitched just a bit better than Stephen Strasburg (who fell to 0-3). Aaron Hicks and Justin Bour homered for YSS. YSS 5 – DET 3
Game #3: Bumgarner was brilliant. 7.2 shutout IP, 5H, 0BB, 10K. YSS immediately attacked Blake Parker to make the score look closer. Cameron Maybin homered for the Crime. DET 5 – YSS 3
Game #4: Caleb Ferguson debuted nicely. Jorge Soler smacked 3 doubles while Kris Bryant homered and doubled to lead the Stalkers. Kendrys Morales (5) and Chris Davis (1) homered for the visitors. YSS 6 – DET 4
Game #5: Game 5 was the showdown of the aces. Neither Aaron Nola nor Gerrit Cole pitched as well as they could. Each team committed an error that led to unearned runs. DET’s error led to 2 unearned and added to Nolas surprising 0-4 early season record. There were no homers in this one. YSS 5 – DET 3
Game #6: Carrasco was studly. Yasmani Grandal doubled and homered to pace the Crime. DET 4 – YSS 2
Game #7: Strasburg chalked up his first win behind a dominant 12K/1BB outing. Manny Machado homered as well. *Shelby Miller injured for 8 days. DET 5 – YSS 1
Series Summary: A pretty tough, back and forth series. A one run game to open the action, then five straight 2 run games, finishing with the only thing resembling a lopsided game. DET took 4 of the 7 games.

Mesa  Solar Sox @ Southbend  Lynx

Series Preview: Mesa travels into Southbend for a 7 game series.
Will Mesa’s offense continue to dominate? Will Southbend’s offense bounce back after a tough series against Virginia? We shall see.
Game #1: SBL Foltynewicz dominates this game going 7 IP, giving up 1 hit, along with 11 Ks. The only hit allowed is a 6th inning single by MSS Garver. SBL get all the runs they would need on a M.Joyce 2-run HR in the B4. SBL Meadows hit 1st HR for the SBL,  a solo-HR in the B6. SBL lift Folty in the T8 to preserve his IP/MBF  and Osuna eventually gets his 5th save.

SBL 3, MSS 0

Game #2: MSS must’ve been a little angry as they drop a 7 spot on the SBL in the T1. MSS sends 12 batters to the plate in the T1 and get 7 runs on 6 hits. Suarez hits a 3-run HR, Aguilar hits a solo-HR, and Grichuk hits a solo-HR as the MSS get back-to-back-to-back HRs. Garver adds a 2-run 3b in the inning. Koch is allowed to toss 2 more innings, then SBL Pivetta comes on for 6 innings of Shutout relief. But MSS Paxton is tough through 6.1 giving up only 5 hits and 2 runs while fanning  10. MSS Dyson and H.Rondon are a little shaky but Jeffress would nail the game down with a 2 inning save. SBL chipped away in the game and got 4 runs on a Escobar 2-run 2b in the B3, a Martin solo-HR in the B7, and Lowrie’s 1st HR of the season, a solo-HR in the B8. But the game was pretty much decided after the 1st inning.

MSS 7, SBL 4

Game #3: SBL score first in the B3 on a Muncy bases loaded walk off Chen. In the SBL B6 Muncy adds a solo-HR for a 2-0 SBL lead. SBL Holland goes 7 strong innings giving up only 2 hits, 0 runs, and fanning 7. SBL go to Moronta in the T8 and he gives up a run o a Kipnis rbi-1b after a Anderson 1b and Rosario bb. SBL get the run back in the B8 on a
Escobar sac fly. SBL Osuna would come on in the T9 and get his 6th save of the year. Chen pitches well for the MSS giving up only 2 hits in 6.1 innings. SBL only gets 3 hits but makes the most of them.
SBL 3, MSS 1
Game #4: This game is all the T.Bauer show as he goes 7 IP giving up 3 hits and 0 runs. Jeffress again comes on for a 2 inning save, his 4th of the year. SBL again only get 3 hits but unlike in the previous game they are unable to score any runs. MSS gets both their runs in the T6 on a Kipnis rbi-2b and a Aguilar rbi-groundout. SBL E.Jackson, Familia, Miller, and Bradley were solid but just not good enough.

MSS 2, SBL 0

Game #5: MSS get a Aguilar rbi-2b to open the scoring in the T1. SBL ties the game in the B1 with a Muncy solo-HR. SBL take the lead in the B4 on Forsythe’s solo-HR, his 1st of the year. In the SBL B5 Lowrie bbs and Muncy swats a 2-run HR, his 2nd of the game, for a 4-1 SBL lead. Thats how the game would end. F.Peralta is solid through 5 IP giving up a run on 5 hits, tho he did walk 4. SBL pen solid with Barnes, Moronta, Familia, and Osuna to close for his 7th save.

SBL 4, MSS 1

Game #6: SBL get 2 in the B1 on a Altuve 1b, Trumbo rbi-2b, and A.Jackson rbi-1b.  MSS get an T.Anderson rbi-2b in the T2 to cut the lead in half. SBL get the run back in the B3 on a Trumbo rbi-1b. SBL would blow the game open with 3 runs in the B5 and B6. MSS would get 5 runs over the last 3 innings but the game was never really in any doubt. Foltynewicz has another big outing going 6IP giving up only 2 hits,1 run, and fanning 8 for his 2nd win of the series. Pivetta comes out of the pen for a 3 inning save, but he wasn’t nearly as effective as in Game 1, giving up 5 runs in 3IP. MSS C.Richard is left in the game a little too long as he gives up 9 runs on 13 hits in 5.2IP
of work.
SBL 10, MSS 6
Game #7: Lowrie gets the SBL on top in the B1 with a solo-HR. Paxton and Koch then match zeros through 5 innings. In the MSS T6 after back-to-back walks to Kipnis and Aguilar, Suarez ties the game with an rbi-2b. SBL Miller comes on and gets Mazara to hit a fly to RF. SBL A.Jackson makes the catch and throws out Aguilar at the plate to end the inning and snuff the MSS rally. It would be the key play of the game. SBL take the lead in the B7 on A.Jackson’s solo-HR, his 1st of the year. SBL gets a little scare in the T8 when Kipnis and Aguilar walk, but Moronta is able to get Suarez on groundout to short to end the inning. SBL Osuna gets the last 2 outs for his 8th save. SBL A. Jackson is the hero with his defensive play and solo-HR.

SBL 2, MSS 1

Series Summary: The SBL win this series 5-2 behind some very good pitching, unlike the opening series where they won it with their bats. The SBL pitchers were able to hold the powerful MSS offense in check.

SBL hosts a strong Motor City team next week and the MSS travel to Detroit.
