2016 – AMERICAN LEAGUE CHAMPIONSHIP SERIES

DetroitCrime2The Hollywood Werewolves looking to make it back to the World Series take on the up & coming Crime from Detroit.   Detroit won the most games in the American League in the 2016 Regular season with 123 victories.

Game #1: Clayton Kershaw (21-7 1.67) vs. Stephen Strasburg (13-3 2.62)
Kershaw is on fire in this one spinning a 2 hitter ( both hits coming from Ben Zobrist) only facing 29 batters striking out 10 with 0 walks and also has yet to give up any runs in this post season. A first inning single by Carlos Gonzalez then rbi dbl by Goldschmidt and that was all Hollywood would need as the game ends 1-0; Strasburg and 4 RPs pitched very well giving up 1 run on 7 hits.
Final Score:  Hollywood 1 – Detroit 0

Game #2: David Price (22-7 1.85) vs. Carlos Carrasco (14-9 3.29)
Hollywood jumps out to an early lead with an RBI single from Cargo in the 1st, In the bottom of the 2nd Det gets there first runs of the series with a 2 run HR off of David Price coming from Franklin Guitierez making it 2-1 it would stay that way till the bottom of the 4th when Morales scores on an RBI single from Prince; In the 6th a single and SB from Cargo gets Detroits bullpen warming up as Benoit takes the hill with one out in the 6th, he walks Miggy then gets Goldschmidt to roll over on a change up and hit into a 4-6-3 DP to get out of the inning. In the bottom of the 8th Adam Jones with 2 outs hits a solo HR to make it 4-1, Britton enters the 9th and Ks his 3 batters for the save.
Final Score:  Detroit 4 – Hollywood 1

Game #3: Madison Bumgarner (25-5 1.75) vs. Jason Hammel (18-4 3.21)
Britton16In the top of the 1st a walk to Zobrist then Machado’s first hit of the series has runners at first and second, back to back ground outs ends up scoring Zobrist from 3rd making it 1-0, itstayed that way till the 4th whenafter a Morales hit Adam Jones took a Hammel fastball to the ribs causing him to miss the rest of this series,Espinoza came into run and Prince delivered a big 2 RBI double making it 3-0; In the 5th inning the rains came in and had a slight delay but was enough to get Bumgarner pulled from the game with 1 out and a runner on first ; Kazmir came in and got Kinsler to ground out but then Ploueffe hit an opposite field blast making it 3-2 but Hollywood would only get 1 more hit the rest of the way and Britton would come on in the 9th to earn his second save.
Final Score:  Detroit 3 – Hollywood 2

Game #4: Stephen Strasburg (13-3 2.62) vs. Clayton Kershaw (21-7 1.67)
In the bottom of the first Hollywood jumps off to an early lead with back to back doubles from Cargo and Miguel Cabrera making it 1-0; In the top of the 3rd Guitierez blasted a Home Run to center making it 1-1, the first run Kershaw has given up this post season ; Strasburg and Kershaw pitched great giving nothing back and it stayed 1-1 until the top of the 8th when Harper facing J Lopez comes up with Zobrist at second and pinch runner Ichiro at first gets his first hit of the series with a 2-run double down the right field line which makes it 3-1, Harper said it was nice to finally get involved; four Detroit relievers closed out the last 6 outs.
Final Score:  Detroit 3 – Hollywood 1

Game #5: Carlos Carrasco (14-9 3.29) vs. David Price (22-7 1.85)
This was all Hollywood from the start middle and end, bottom 2nd with one out Prince made an error on a Gordon ground ball which would lead to 3 runs and an early exit by Carrasco , a single by Kinsler and another error from Harper, then singles by Marte and then Plouffe make it 3-0; In the 3rd Goldschmidt hits a moonshot over the fence making it 4-0; It would stay that way till the 7th as Price pitched great; After a Harper walk and single from Prince it was 4-1, in the bottom of the 7th Kazmir and Villanuava have  5 walks and a sac fly make it 7-1; the game ended 7-2.

Game #6: Jason Hammel (18-4 3.21) vs. Madison Bumgarner (25-5 1.75)
Alex Gordon got things going in the 2nd with a solo shot making it 1-0 then in the bottom of the frame Morales picked up his 3rd hit of the series with hi own solo shot Fielder then walked and Peralta walked and with 2 outs Maldanado hits a pea down the right field line which scores both runners making it 3-1, Hammel would get pulled only going 1 2/3 innings ; In the top of the 5th after a double by Cargo, Goldschmidt gets an RBI single making it 3-2, it would also be an early exit for Bumgarner as he goes 5 innings giving up 2 runs; Britton would come on in the 6th retiring 3 batters but in the 7th Plouffe gets to him with shot over the left field wall making it 3-3; in the bottom of the 7th Rodriguez leads off with a single then facing Givens, Guitierez hits an opposite field HR making it 5-3, Detroit would tack on 2 more in the 8th and both Benoit and Giles would close this one out as Detroit wins 7-3
Final Score:  Detroit 7 – Hollywood 2

The Detroit Crime take the series 4-2 & move on to the 2016 World Series & face the Bandicoots from Bethesda.
