Yonge Street visits Soutbend

YSS gets on the board in the T4 on a Heyward 2-run HR. YSS R.Tejeda makes it 3-0 with an rbi-1b in the 5th. SBL Altuve hits a 2-run HR in the B6 (the 1st of 5 for him in the series) to cut the lead to one. But Shields gets out of the inning and Bastardo and Papelbon close out the game.
YSS 3, SBL 2

YSS scores first in the T1 on a Bour rbi-1b. SBL plate 3 in the B1 on a Altuve solo-HR, Jaso rbi-2b, and Gomes rbi-2b. SBL Altuve adds another solo-HR in the B2 and Canha hits a solo-HR in the B3 for a 5-1 SBL lead. In the YSS T5 Ackley hits a solo-HR, Gomez 2bs, and Prado rips an rbi-1b. YSS ties the game in the T6 on a Blanco rbi-1b and a Calhoun rbi-2b. SBL regain the lead ona Altuve rbi-2b and a Kang rbi-1b in the B6. SBL Jaso adds a solo-HR in the B7 and Familia
would come on and get a 5 out save. SBL break the drought and finally win a game at home!
SBL 8, YSS 5

YSS T.Walker goes 5.2 strong innings giving up only 1 run, an Altuve solo-HR in the 3rd, and get 5 runs of offense for the win. The big hits for YSS were a Conger 2-run HR in the T2 and a Bour 2-run 2b in the T8.
YSS 5, SBL 1

YSS M.Estrada does even better for YSS in this start going 7IP giving up only 2 hits and 1 run. YSS smacks SBL Foltynewicz and Barnes around the park to the tune of 10 runs on 14 hits. Big games for YSS come from Prado 3-5, 2 runs and rbi, Bryant 3-5 run & rbi, and Bour 2-3, 3 runs. Calhoun has 3 rbi and a HR. “Nuff said.
YSS 10, SBL 1

SBL manage to win a second game behind a strong performance from C.Kelly. SBL C.Kelly tosses the CG giving up 1 run on 6 hits. YSS lone run comes off an rbi-1b by Bour in the T1. Altuve hits a 2-run HR in the B5 to pace the SBL offense.
SBL 5, YSS 1

YSS takes their revenge on the SBL as they pummel them 16-0 to end the series. YSS G.Cole is dominant giving up only 3 hits as he tosses the shutout, fanning 7. Every YSS player gets at least 1 hit as YSS scores 16 runs on 20 hits. Tejeda 4-6, Rogers 3-5 w/5 rbi, A.Hicks 3-6, and Zunino is 3-5. Interesting note is that YSS does not hit a single HR in their hit barrage.
YSS 16, SBL 0

Despite Altuve’s big series the YSS take the series 4-2 over the SBL.

Hollywood takes 4 of 6.
Cargo has 3 more homers and is up to 7 HRs/19 RBIs in 16 games since arriving in Hollywood.

Manhattan comes into the Windy City for a six game set. The Mobsters have playoff adjurations while the Project are just that, a project.

Aaron Sanchez (5-3 4.07) comes within one of of a No-Hitter before he loses it to Chris Denorfia. The Project put up 4 in the 9th, but Aroldi Chapman comes on & closes out the game for his 36th Save on the season. J.D. Martinez is big for Chicago with 2 Home Runs & 3 RBI’s.

C.C. Sabathia (4-6 5.78) picks up another win (#230) in his quest to pass Tom Glavine (#238) for the Mid-West Baseball League All Time Wins Leader.
Dustin Pedroia is 3 for 4 with 2 RBI’s. J.D. Martinez Homers again for the Mobsters.

Felix Hernandez (19-4 1.94) gets the win. Ryan Raburn Homers & drives in 3 RBI’s. Andrew McCutchen is 2 for 2 with 2 walks & 3 RBI’s. Curt Casali is 2 for 5 with a Home Run & 5 RBI’s.

Drew Pomeranz (7-2 2.15) shows some skill going 7 Innings allowing only 2 Earned Runs. Tony Sipp closes it out for Save # 24 on the season. Wilson Ramos is 2 for 4 with a Double, Home Run & 3 RBI’s.

Manhattan plays well in 4 of the 6 games. Two blowouts by the Mobsters. Series goes 4 games to 2 for Chicago.

Bethesda has their way with Pittsburgh pitching. Thankfully no video evidence exists. Lumber Company takes the final game to keep a tiny shred of dignity intact.

The Crushers had a chance to win one game when they led 2-0 through 8 innings in the third game, but Dallas scored 3 times in the bottom of the ninth.
In game one Keuchel threw no hit ball for 7 innings.

Chen tossed his 8th complete game of the year. Tempe 2-0

Tempe jumped out to a 10-1 lead on a Crush Davis grandslam. Cashner came on to get some usage and nearly gave it all back. Tempe 10-9

Bourjos has the game of his career slugging three homeruns and Lamb recorded 13 strikeouts. Cashner (ejected) intentionally plunked Bourjos so he couldn’t get a 4th homerun. Selkirk 15-5

Cespedes powered Tempe with two, three run home runs. Tempe 7-2

Longoria 8th inning solo broke up a 2-2 game. Tempe 3-2

Votto and Davis homer early and Tempe hangs on for the win. Tempe 7-4

Tempe takes 5 of 6, but needs help from Grand Haven if they are going to gain any ground on Columbus. Selkirk heads to Jersery next week, while Tempe travels to Sacramento for a pivotal series.

Division mates Virginia and Mesa square off. Much hitting expected as the pitching staffs are not quite there, yet.

Virginias’ Jackie Bradley Jr. tripled home 2 8th inning runs to win the game 6-5.

Ian Kennedy twirls a three hit shutout at Virginia. Mesa gets homers from Rosario and Kiermaeier and wins 8-0.

Trevor Bauer matches Kennedy with his own 3 hit shutout. Brian Dozier drives in 4 with a double and two homers. The Solar Sox smack 4 triples in the game.

Dozier blasts a 1st inning grand slam and Mesa gets other homers from Odubel Herrera and Ryan Howard in thier 9-7 win.

Virginia bats come alive, scoring 11 times against Mesa starter Eddie Butler. Homers from Neil Walker, Jean Segura, and Ivan Dejesus Jr. fuel the 11-3 win.

A fitting cap to a great series, Brian Dozier blasts a two run game winning homer in the 9th. Mesa 5-4.

Dozier has a monster series: 9-22, 7 runs, 14 RBI, 3 doubles and 4 homers!!!!
