Series Preview
The Tempers are looking to gain ground on Columbus in a tight NL Central race via the somewhat hapless Patriots.
Game #1:
Iwakuma (7-4) vs De La Rosa (3-9)
Tempe tunes-up Rubby back of the Casino style. Top of the 3rd has the Tempers up 7-0 with 4 XBs already on the books and they cruise to an easy win. Votto and Cespedes lead the charge.

Santiago (9-4) vs. Graveman (0-9)
Graveman is winless despite a respectable ERA of around 4. Triple Creek jumps out to a 3-0 lead after 2 innings but Tempe hangs a 4-spot in the 3rd. Tempe scores single runs in the 5th, 6th and 7th but the Patriots battle back with 3 in the 8th. Ends up being a moral victory for the home squad but a real victory for Tempe. Bogaerts bangs out 5 hits.

New York  Outlaws @ Long Beach  Dirt  Bags
Series Summary
New York and Long Beach split the 6 game series

Bethesda  Bandicoots @ Columbus  Explorers
Series Preview
Division leaders clash as Bethesda (63-33, 1st place NL East) comes to Columbus to play the Explorers (74-22, 1st place NL Central). The season continues to be dream for the Explorers but as we reach the 100 game point this week, they still have a long way to go, and they know the Tempers are just waiting to pounce. Bethesda is maintaining a solid lead over 2nd place Pittsburgh in the East – but still want to add some more distance.
Game #1:
Gordon drives in 2 in a 4 run 4th to give McCullers some serious run support. Lance goes 6 giving up 4 hits and no runs. Game remains 4-0 until the 9th when Drew hits a 2 run homer (11) to make it look real close.
BET 2-6-1 LP Banuelos (his 4 walks didn’t help him).
COL 4-5-1 WP McCullers (4-1)
Game #2:
This game features Jake Arrieta vs. Josh Tomlin – at least until the 2nd inning. That’s when Jake walks off the mound (and suffers a 13 day injury). Explorers got one in the 1st and then picked apart reliever Salas for 3 in the 2nd. Then got singles runs off Cishek in the 3rd and 4th to get out to a 6-0 lead. They added another to win 7-0. Desmond homered (6) for the good guys.
BET 0- 5-1 LP Arrieta (10-6)
COL 7-12-1 WP Tomlin (4-0)
Game #3:
Gray vs. Dickey – Columbus plates 1 in the 1st. Jay doubles in the tying run in the 2nd and then Gordon drives in 2 in a 3 run 2nd for Columbus and that was all the scoring. Gray goes 7 giving up 6 hits, Dickey goes 7 giving up 4 hits.
BET 1-4-1 LP Gray (11-7)
COL 4-6-0 WP Dickey (7-8) S O’Day (15)
Game #4:
Ross vs. Milone and Milone has a field day. He goes 7 giving up 4 hits, fanning 7, no walks and no runs. He even singles. Blackmon goes 3 for 4 and drives in 2 and scores twice, as does Carpenter and Choo goes 4 for 4. Cain gets 2 of the 7 total Bandicoots hits, Miller hits a solo shot (5) to spoil the team shutout in the 8th.
BET 1- 7-2 LP Ross (7-7)
COL 7-14-0 WP Milone (7-3)
Game #5:
Doug Fister comes to square off againt J.A. Happ and the Coots work some opening inning magic to plate a run. Happ’s boys however counter with a 3 spot in the bottom half. Another Coot runs scores in the 3rd, but Happ’s boys get it back in the 4th. Then the Explorers tag on 2 more in the 6th and 8th to run away with this one. Some sloppy play by both teams caused 3 of the games runs to be unearned. Iglesias gets 2 hits.
BET 2- 6-2 LP Fister (2-1)
COL 8-12-2 WP Happ (13-2)
Game #6:

Local stores faced runs on brooms as the hometown fans wanted to see what it was like to cheer for a big sweep. Banuelos came out against McCullers again and the Coots scored twice in the 1st as Columbus made some errors (3 total in the game). They added a 3rd run in the 6th when McCullers walked in a run. Meanwhile, Banuelos did not have much stuff. He gives up 4 in the 2nd and 3 more in the 4th. The real moment that hushed the crowd however was when he hit McCullers in the back. He was OK after a bit and ended up staying in and scoring a run and a Blackmon triple (4 rbis in the game). Nolan Reimold got into
the act with 3 hits including a 2 run HR (1) in the 7th.
BET 3- 6-0 LP Banuelos (1-2)
COL 9-12-3 WP McCullers (5-1)

Series Summary
Explorers are able to get the sweep, the crowd was wild. The Coots were down trodden as the packed up. They get to go home and host the wild and crazy bunch from Sacramento – another division leader. Columbus will go on the road to the Lumber Company in Pittsburgh – an Ohio River showdown.
Explorers happy to maintain their margin over Tempe, who also swept this week.

Hollywood  Werewolves @ Yonge Street  Stalkers
Game #1:
Hey…a pitchers duel. D. Price held YSS hitless until a 1 out double in the 7th inning. The SP’s were strong in this one.
HOL 2 – YSS 0
Game #2:
YSS tallied a lone run in the 8th to tie the score at 1, but HOL tacked on the winner in the top of the 9th. A second straight game of strong SP.
HOL 2 – YSS 1
Game #3:
Big Game James Shields tossed 8 scoreless while The Jay Hey kid went 5-5 and plated 3.
YSS 9 – HOL 0
Game #4:
YSS scored 3 in the first and Marco Estrada made it stand up.
YSS 5 – HOL 2
Game #5:
A fluke double with 2 out in the 8th is YSS first hit. We touched up Jake McGeee to make the “Kershaw Effect” a bit less obvious. He was dominant, in case you were wondering.
HOL 12 – YSS 3
Game #6:
A great close to the series if you’re a YSS fan. The Jay Hey Kid salvaged a split for the home squad with a walk off 3R HR.
YSS 6 – HOL 3
Series Summary
A pretty entertaining series…just enough great SP, and some late inning heroics. But still…A split is a split.

Southwest Detroit  Fighting Chihuahuas @ Southbend  Lynx
Series Preview
Two teams looking to the future and better days.
Game #1:
SWD takes G1 behind a solid start from Zimmerman. SWD comes from a 2-0 deficit and ties it 2-2 in the T4 on a 2-run 1b by Lawrie. SWD break a 3-3 tie in the T8 on a Duffy H&R rbi-2b and Bethancourt rbi-1b. Wilson comes on for a save for SWD.SBL lose Kang for the series (7 days) to add to not having Canha and Forsythe from last week’s injury bug.SWD 5, SBL 3
Game #2:
This one’s a laugher as SWD plates 5 in the 1st with the big hit being a Lawrie 3-run HR. SBL cut it to 5-3 in the B6 on a Gomes 2-run HR. But SWD puts the game away in the T7 with 2 runs and the T8 scoring 4 runs.SWD M.Moore gets his 1st win of the season.
SWD 11, SBL 3
Game #3:
SWD comes out swinging again with 3 in the T1 on a Duffy rbi-1b and a Schafer 2-run 1b. SBL tie it back up in the B1 with a Trumbo 2-run HR and a Escobar solo-HR. But SWD is not to be denied as they score 3 more in the T2 on back-to-back solo-HRs by Burns and Ellsbury and a Duffy rbi-2b. Trumbo hits his 2nd HR, a solo-HR in the B3. Its 6-4 in the T8 when SWD puts the game away on an Alvarez 3-run HR. The SBL get a token run in the 9th on a Gomes solo-HR.
SWD 9, SBL 5
Game #4:
This game is all about SBL Altuve as he goes 4-5 with 5 rbi and 3 HRs. I’d have to double check but I’m pretty sure its the 1st SBL 3 HR game in franchise history. SWD had an early 3-0 lead, then 3-2, before SBL erupted for 6 runs in the B6 keyed by HRs from McGehee, Escobar and Soto and a 2-run 2b by Altuve. Alvarez has a 2-run 3b and solo-HR for SWD.
SBL 10, SWD 4
Game #5:
Once again SWD puts up a 3 spot in the T1 on a Alvarez 2-run HR, a Duffy 2b, and Lawrie rbi-1b. But just like G3 the SBL tie it in the B1 on a Jason rbi-2b and a Gomes 2-run HR. The pitching takes over from here on and the SWD plate a run in the T7 when Ellsbury 1bs and steals 2nd and Alvarez drives him in with an rbi-1b. Thats the ball game as Wilson and Robertson shut the door for SWD.
SWD 4, SBL 3
Game #6:
SBL get an early lead in the B1 on an Altuve solo-HR. SWD takes the lead in the T3on a Burns rbi-1b and Lawrie rbi-groundout. SWD has a 4-2 lead in the B5 when SBL Morse ties the game with a 2-run HR. But in the T7 Burns hits a solo-Hr for a 5-4 SWD lead. Hochevar and Robertson close out the game for SWD.
SWD 5, SBL 4
Series Summary
SWD proves to be the better team in this series as they pull off a 5-1 series win. Those Chihuahuas are some tough pups!
