Hollywood takes 5 of 6

The first place American League East Dallas Cougars head North East to take on the Mobsters of Chicago who currently hold down second place in the American League Central.

Marcus Stroman (1-0 0.82) is stellar for 6 innings allowing only 1 hit & 2 walks. Chicago’ offense is lead by Russell Martin who is 2 for 4 with 3 RBI’s.
Final Score: Chicago 9 – Dallas 0

Chris Sale (9-4 3.41) is shaky but picks the win. Dustin Pedroia as 2 RBI’s for Chicago.
Final Score: Chicago 7 – Dallas 4

Carter Capps (3-0 0.44) picks up the win in relief. Aroldis Chapman picks up his 23rd Save on the season.
Final Score: Chicago 4 – Dallas 3

Felix Hernandez (14-3 2.18) gets roughed up a bit, but manages to grab the win. Andrew McCutchen is 3 for 4 with 4 RBI’s including a Home Run.
Final Score: Chicago 9 – Dallas 4

Chase Anderson (3-3 4.48) manages to pick up Dallas lone win in the series. Jose Alvarez notches his 2nd Save on the season. Yangervis Solarte (who was a thorn in the side of the Mobsters this series) is 3 for 4. Jedd Gyorko is 2 for 4 with a Home Run & 3 RBI’s.
Final Score: Dallas 7 – Chicago 6

Chicago wins the series 5 games to 1, but Dallas plays tough along the way.

Patriots visit Valdosta as I await the Braves @ Dodgers on tv.

Triple Creek 1-0. Alex Wood (6-8) with a 2-hit CG.

Valdosta 9-2. Snappers with the easy win.

Triple Creek 6-4. Kimbrel blows his 1st save of the year as the Patriots score 3 off of him in the 9th.

Valdosta 4-2. Wisler (2-3) with a solid start for the Snappers and Kimbrel with the save.

Valdosta 10-1. Colby Lewis goes the distance and is backed up with 5 Snappers HR’s.

Triple Creek 4-2. Alex Wood left early with a sore shoulder but the Pats bullpen was up to the challenge as they win a close one.

Corktown wins 6-5(10) as Andres homers.

Corktown and Hellickson win 1-0 against wright,. Eaton hit a solo homer for the games only run,.

Morgan improves to 7-1 on a 9 hit shutout, Corktown 3 Selkirk 0

Andrus and Orlando homers wins 7-3 as Ray gets the win,

Hosmer gets five hits for COrktwon but no one else did much as Selkirk wins 3-2 (13)

Corktown wins 12-4 as Phegley homers

Not a got series for Selkirk as the team continues to play lackluster ball waiting for the 2017 draft.

Not a good outing for the Gators or Duffey. Bandicots all over the board

Much like game 1, Bethesda offense is too much for the Gators pitching.

Ramirez (BET) vs. Morton (GHG)
Bethesda gets on the board early in the 1st, plating 3 runs….Gators SP Morton comes off the field in the 4th with an elbow problem (just like real life!!) Bandicots continue their offensive roll, gathering 15 hits and scoring 7 runs. Rameriez pitches a near complete game, as they take him out in the 9th after giving up a base hit.

Arrieta (BET) vs. House (GHG)
Bethesda squeaks out the win in this one. Strong pitching performances from both starters. Bandicots C AJ Pierzynski extends his hitting streak to 21 games

For the 2nd time this series, a Gator SP is pulled from the game early with injury – Loshe is pulled in the 2nd inning. Sonny Gray pitches a great game:  Complete game shut-out, giving up

Ross (BET) vs. Chavez (GHG)
Bethesda offense continues to over power Grand Haven…

Bethesda get the sweep, winning all 6 games; they have now won 19 games in a row!!  The flip side to that, the Gators have now lost 15 in a row, and injuries taking their toll.

The Stalkers (44-40) host the Project (42-42) in an average match up of average teams.

Rick Porcello held the Stalkers to 5 measly singles. The Project got homers from Seager, Ramos and Hill.

MAN 5 – YSS 3

Joc Pedersons 3RHR was plenty of support for Shelby Miller.

YSS 4 – MAN 2

Only in recapping the game here, did I realize that YSS somehow scored 5 runs on 1 hit. Anyhow…the Project doubled that run total behind Hill & Ramos. They each doubled and homered and combined to plate 8.

MAN 10 – YSS 5

Kris Bryants 16th HR led the way. Pineda pitched nicely.

YSS 2 – MAN 1

Porcellos 2nd win of the series. Zuninos 3RHR accounted for all the home teams runs.

MAN 6 – YSS 3

The Stalkers closed with a flurry. Ten of their 13 hits went for extra bases.

YSS 10 – MAN 3

The average-ness continues. The teams alternated wins through the series. MAN continues their road trip to DET next week, while YSS packs up for a trip to SWD.

Two teams with similar records,…and going nowhere.

TIJ 8-4
4 homers from the Bottle Rockets, including 2 by Encarnacion (18, 19), gives A.Sanchez (6-5) the win. O’Sullivan (0-9) still winless.

VIR 11-7
G.Springer hits a grand slam, and Rizzo and Bradley join the long ball parade to make a winner of C.Archer (6-4).

TIJ 6-2
Encarnacion goes deep again and J.Upton gets 2 RBI on 2 hits. H.Bailey (3-9) is the winner, de la Rosa (2-7) the loser.

VIR 4-3
Tied in the 9th, TIJ goes ahead in the 10th only to see A.Ramirez hit a 2-run walk-off. Ferrell (0-1) losses, Riv ero (3-2) wins.

VIR 8-3
Even though Upton (17) and Mauer (5) homer, N.Walker doubles twice to knock in 4 runs and R.Flaherty chips in 2 to give VIR the win and put M.Gonzalez at 6-5. B.Zito (3-6) takes the loss.

VIR 9-6
Leading 9-2 thanks to homers by N.Walker (13), A.Ramirez (14) and a 3-run double by A.Rizzo, the Sluggers withstand a 4 run 8th by the Hammers and hold on to win. O’Sullivan (1-9) finally wins. A.Sanchez (6-6) gets the loss.

VIR takes the series 4-2.

Columbus wins via a 3 run HR in the top 9th.

McCullers goes 9 innings of no hit ball before giving up a single in 10th. Columbus wins via 2 run HR by Carpenter in top 12th.

Outlaws win 1-0. Dickey throws 9 shutout innings before a Beltran SAC fly in bottom of 9th marks the game’s only run.

Explorers take this one.

Columbus shuts out Outlaws in the finale.  INJURY ALERT for Explorers:Hernandez 3 days  Cuddyer 5 days

Expecting to get beat down are the Crushers.

All Degrom in a 4-1 MCM win.

Gray out duels Karns in a 2-0 MCM win.

Ahmed with a late HR to lift MCM to a 4-3 win.

All MCM in an easy 8-1 win.

Grichuk and Feldman come through and prevent the sweep.  CCC wins 5-3.

CCC scores a run in the 8th and another in the 10th to pull out a 5-4 win.

MCM wins the first 4 games before CCC saves a little face by taking the final 2.

Mesa gets two in the first, Fremont gets two in the ninth. Kiermaier walks, steals second, steals third, then scores on a wild pitch to give the Solar Sox the 3-2 win in 11.

Homers from Frazier (12) and Van Slyke (2) aren’t enough as Fremont takes it 4-3. Rodon improves to 3-11.

Fremont leaves 14 on base in an 8-5 loss to Mesa. Paulsen (9) homers for Mesa, and Correa (13) and Davis (11) homer for Fremont. Kennedy moves to 8-4 for the Solar Sox.

Detwiler (5-11) limits Mesa to two runs in eight innings as the Cannons win 5-2. Yan Gomes (1) homers in the loss.

Carlos Gomez goes 3-4 with a homer (6), 2 runs, and 2 RBI to pace Fremont to the 3-2 victory.

Dozier ties it with a home run (18) in the bottom of the ninth, and doubles home Kiermaier in the 11th for the winning run. Paulsen gives Mesa some insurance with his second home run of the game (10, 11) as the Solar Sox win 7-4 in 11. Schoop (11) and McCann (4) go deep for Fremont.

3-3 series split.

The Clovis Wheat Kings and the Tempe Tempers battle for six games and the privilege of hosting the Wild Card game.
